They call the farming areas black lands beacause the soil when the nile floods (whitch is like a natrual ferilizer for the crops) is black. Pyramids were build in Egypt as tombs for pharaohs and other important figures. Along with the bodies they also buried treasures, jewelery and food etc. because they believed in life after death. They also suspected that their graves would be disturbed by grave robbers that is why they made passageways with ends blocked with stone.

Their president Mubarak has used corrupt methods to keep himself in power, so he's been their president for 30 years, and he's at a point where he really isn't doing anything about stuff that needs to be taken care of. It all boils down to the citizens being sick of their lazy president.
