Ender Series

Ender's mother was Mormon, which means she was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

By Ender destroying all the aliens on their homeworld and every where else. He thought it was a game.

The ultimate problem -- Ender's guilt in destroying the alien race -- was resolved at the end of the novel and in its sequel, Speaker for the Dead. In order for Ender to really know his enemies well enough to defeat them, he inevitably had to come to love them. For this reason, he understands the buggers' intentions better than anyone else on Earth and is left with immense guilt in for destroying them (despite the fact that he didn't realize it was real). He becomes the anonymous Speaker for the Dead and reveals the true nature of the buggers to humanity (ironically damning himself as "Ender the Xenocide" in the eyes of the human race), and he's given a chance to rebuild the alien race he thought he had wiped out entirely when he finds a last hive queen egg.

Peter Wiggins flops onto his bed and laughs because he realizes the gravity of the situation has passed and that he successfully executed his plan. The relief and release of tension lead to his spontaneous laughter.

Eros, but it is not a planet, it is an asteroid that the Buggers originally colonized on their way towards Earth for the First Invasison. However after the Second Invasion the I.F. took control of the asteroid and made it their headquarters. The reason for this choice as headquarters was because the buggers were very much like ants and so dug into the center of the asteroid when they temportarily colonized it, and so the HQ could be very secret and hidden in the the middle of an asteroid.

"Graff" is a fictional character created by Orson Scott Card in the novel "Ender's Game." In the story, Graff is portrayed as someone willing to manipulate situations and use questionable tactics to achieve his goals, which may be interpreted as blasphemous by some due to his questionable morality and actions.

To destroy the Buggers

Yes. Stilson taunts Ender by saying, "Hey, Third, hey, turd, you flunked out, huh? Thought you were better than us, but you lost your little birdie, Thirdie, got a bandaid on your neck."

Ah, in Ender's Game, the color code for Rat Army is brown. It's like the warm, earthy tones you might see in a cozy cabin painting. Just imagine those brave soldiers marching together, united under the color of rich, comforting brown.

Ender first enters Salamander Army, and then gets traded to rat army, and then Graff sends him to an army that ender commands Dragon Army. In Dragon Army Ender meets a kid named Bean.

The theme of humanity in "Ender's Game" focuses on the moral dilemmas surrounding power, empathy, and the consequences of war on individuals. Through Ender's journey, the novel explores how humanity's instinct for survival can sometimes lead to sacrificing our values and understanding of others.

THEMES-

Friendship- The Gladers are all very close, and count on each other when things get tough. When Thomas joins the group, he is welcomed by most and makes strong friendships. Chuck in particular shows the true meaning of friendship. He is kind to Thomas from the moment Thomas entered the Glade, and a strong bond was made between them. Then, near the end of the book, Chuck sacrifices himself for Thomas, jumping in front of him and taking the knife. He dies out of love for his friend.

Persistence- After two whole years of living in the Glade, the Gladers have not given up. They continue to search the maze, determined that there is a way out. They have a great system set up with jobs for everyone, and they keep it going through all the difficulties. They never sit around doing nothing, waiting for something to happen.

Environment- In this novel, the world has been destroyed and is in horrible shape. The reader will learn the importance of keeping the world healthy and safe, to avoid such a disaster!

Bravery- The Gladers are all incredibly brave, having gone through many, many scary and strange things. By the end of the book, the Gladers who are left are all extremely courageous to make it so far, although many boys who did not make it to the end were equally as brave. Chuck, for example, demonstrated a heroic act by sacrificing himself for Thomas. All the boys who were killed in the battle with the Grievers were also very courageous to fight the evil creatures.

The Necessity of Structure in Society- From the beginning, the original Gladers immediately set up an organized, structured society, everyone assigned a job in order to get things done. This shows that even when humans are forced to start from scratch, our need for order is strong.

As a "third", Ender faced permanent disgrace and has brought shame to his family. "Thirds" were not very respected because there was a strict two child policy: one boy and one girl. But in some special cases, the government granted a family to have a third child. The reason Ender's family was allowed to have him is because their two other children, Peter and Valentine, lacked the qualities the I.F. needed in their soldiers and they wanted to see if he would possess them.

The human conflict in Ender's Game is that Ender learns that what he thought was a simulation or video game was real war. His actions killed millions. He almost wiped out an entire civilization.

Ender kills off all the buggers and regrets it. Becomes the Speaker for the Dead in response.

Mazer Rackham

The book opens in the Netherlands, in Rotterdam, and a street urchin named Poke sees what she thinks is a two year old who is starving, but who hasn't given in to death. She can tell he is thinking, and trying to figure things out. She has a crew that she is trying to keep alive, and doesn't want him... says he isn't worth a bean.

The starving child has been observing the streets, trying to figure out why people are doing the things they are doing, and letting himself starve until he figures it out. He makes his move now, and comes up with an idea of how to keep her crew alive and safe without having to pay tributes of food to other starvelings that come along. She realizes that it might be a good idea, and actually give her crew a chance to survive long term, so she feeds him a few peanuts, and her crew decide he is worth one bean, which then becomes his name.

The crew tries his idea and they attack a bully, but the bully is really smart and it works out differently than they expected. The bully, Achilles, takes over the group by getting to know them and sharing some food with them. The chapter ends there, with Bean worried about whether the new crew boss will kill him.

Valentine kept safe from Peter by leaving Earth. She and Ender went to a colony planet called Shakespeare.

The average reading level for 5th grade is 5.0-5.9 But if they are having a problem reading they might be below where they are suppose to be. Or if they are overachievers and are ahead of the rest of the students then they would be set to a higher level.
