To fax to an extension number, you need to insert a pause into the number you fax to. This is done in different ways on different fax machines, and can be found in the manual. I have a Lexmark X7350 All In One. To fax, you put you sheets on top face up, make sure the "Fax Mode" button is lit up, key in the fax#, then press either the "Start Colour" button or the "Start Black" button, depending on where you want the image sent in colour on the other end.

Put the message you're sending into the send tray at top, Face UP. On the keypad, enter the area code and fax number. Press either the b&w or color fax button at lower right front of the machine.
