high-speed, computerized communications network that connects all 12 Federal Reserve Banks, their 24 branches, the Federal Reserve Board office in Washington, D.C., U.S. Treasury offices in Washington, D.C., and Chicago, and the Washington, D.C. office of the Commodity Credit Corporation; also spelled FedWire and Fedwire.
The Fed wire has been called the central nervous system of money transfer in the United States. It enables banks to transfer reserve balances from one to another for immediate available credit and to transfer balances for business customers. Using the Fed wire, Federal Reserve Banks can settle interdistrict transfers resulting from check collections, and the Treasury can shift balances from its accounts in different reserve banks quickly and without cost. It is also possible to transfer bearer short-term government securities within an hour at no cost. This is done through a procedure called CPD (Commissioner of Public Debt of the Treasury) transfers, whereby one Federal Reserve Bank "retires" a seller's security, while another reserve bank makes delivery of a like amount of the same security from its unissued stock to the buyer.

How long does fedex ground take?
Ground can take anywhere from 1 to 7 business days depending on where the package is going to and from.
Fedex ground typically takes 10 to 12 days to get to me in central illinois from Salt Lake City, Utah. Why, you ask? Because they sit on it. When I monitor the tracking, I notice that it gets to Missouri and then circles the wagons for another 3 or 4 days. Is it to get you to opt for the 2nd Day delivery? I suppose it depends on where you live, but everything that comes to me via UPS Ground, gets here in 2 or 3 days, so I don't opt for speedy delivery. But some retailers only use FedEx, and I'm FedUp.

The main difference is how you get your package.
When FedEx delivers, they require a signature. If you're not home they leave a note. They will try again or you can go to the nearest office and pick your package up.
UPS just rings the doorbell and leaves your package on the doorstep, unless someone specifically requested your signature.
UPS is very Authoritarian Fedex is more of a Franchise.
