These animals are very prevelant in NH and if your cat/dog gets loose, you will never see it again -thanks to these viscous horrible creatures.

I would suggest a harness that has snaps. If you have your ferret on a harness that has velcro, and no snaps or buckles, it is very easy for for your ferret to slip out of it. I would also not use a harness that is made specifically for ferrets, but if you want to you can, but for my ferrets I used a sorta generic harness for small critters.

No, unless you are talking about the black footed ferret (a native to the southwestern region of the United States), ferrets are domesticated animals.

My suggestion would be to use nothing - ferrets are not simply small humans and can react very differently to medications and doseages that are safe in humans. Particularly for a viral infection (such as a stomach flu), it is best to keep a close eye on your ferret for signs of severe disease or dehydration but otherwise let him work it through his system himself.

Ferrets are suited to eating meat only, with very occasional and very small amounts of vegetable matter such as raisins - any other substance is bad for their health. If you've been using a clumping litter - which shouldn't be used for ferrets at all - then stop using it immediately as it will form clumps in his digestive tract which could kill him. As he was crossing the trail approximately 100 yards in front of us, we startled him. Instead of scampering into the underbrush, he waddled down the trail for several minutes. We were riding at about 5 mph and closing in on him, while maintaining a safe distance. Soon, he turned, giving us a magnificent profile (as if to say, Yes, I am a badger), then jumped into the tall grass and brush. We stopped to investigate, but he was gone. I have been trying to find more information on badgers in Iowa, but have come up empty handed in my internet search.
