Why a 7 month old fetus has more chance to survive after premature delivery than an 8 months old fetus?

well since i been doing research on fetuses, my girlfriend is pregnant i believe that a 7 month old fetus can survive preterm birth because of development, so does the 8 month old fetus, but i believe the 8 month old fetus can't survive because it was almost born, i guess. Personally, I haven't heard of this, and can't find it in any of the medical textbooks I have.

An 8 month fetus has more chance of survival than a 7 month old fetus because it is more developed. The weeks just before full term birth, the baby is working on lung development. Neither than 7 month old nor the 8 month old has full lung capacity development... and actually the 7 month old hasn't even started much on this one.

It really depends on any other complications that arise. If the 8 month fetus has more complications, say because of genetics or trauma besides the pre-term delivery, it would have a lesser chance of survival compared to a 7 month fetus that has little or no complications, either genetics or trauma. Both fetus are at risk for pre-mature illnesses and the normal complications that stem from being delivered early.

In either case, medical technology has advanced quite far in these times. Both fetus have a chance for survival with various treatments, medications, machines, and procedures, depending on the needs of the preemie and the stage of development, as well as post-partum circumstances that arise. It is still true, however, that the further along you can carry the baby, the better chance of survival it has because it has been able to be more developed. This is why, if you are too early, and you have true labor pains, the doctor will give you medication to stop the labor and thus give the baby more time to develop in utero.

What is Uterus size at 31 weeks?

At 31 weeks the top of the uterus is approximately mid-way between the belly button and the bottom of the breast bone. How big you look depends on a lot of things, how good your abdominal muscles are, how tall you are, how slim or big you are/were etc. I have looked after several women who hardly appear to be pregnant at all, and a couple of young girls who have concealed their pregnancies even from their families until they have delivered full-term babies.

How big is a fetus at nineteen weeks?

6 inches crown to rump 10 inches if streched head to toe

Can you hear babys heart beat at 7 weeks?

Yes, I went in for an ultrasound on 09/24/09 and they told me I was 6 weeks and 4 days along. the baby's heart rate was 138bpm and I could hear it with the abdominal ultrasound and the transvaginal.

However, every pregnancy is different. Godd luck!

How soon can an ultrasound see a pregnancy sac?

== You can see the hearbeat at your FIRST ultrasound appointment.....it won't look like much, just a bright, very fast flutter on the screen, but alas that is your "little one"! My wife and I saw our baby's heart beat with a transvaginal probe a little less than 4 weeks after conception, which is considered 5-6 weeks gestation.

The gestation period of a developing human fetus is about?

A normal pregnancy lasts 41 weeks from fertilization to term. Therefore; gestation days would calculate to 287.

How many months fetus develope in the mothers womb?

9 months well a fully completed baby would take 9 months but however some babies are born prematurly early.

Answer Depends on what is meant by 'complete'. Human gestation normally lasts 9 months, but lots of people would say it is human before it is born. For example, is a fetus not completely human at 8.5 months or a week before the due date? Also after it is bornthe baby is totally dependent on the mother - and some people would say that it is not complete until it is able to think for itself and live on its own. Of course that would mean that those who are mentally handicapped are not completely human - and that's Nazi thinking. So - gestation is usually 9 months but the expression completely human is open to argument.

Why would baby's heart beat be 177 at 38 weeks?

yess my babies heartbeat was 176 at my first ultrasound. It slows down the farther along you get until its ready to beat on its own without your help after you have the baby.

Should you feel a baby move at 22 weeks?

oh yes you definitely can. at this point the babys movement should become more tense

What does it mean if you are eight weeks pregnant and the fetus measured at five weeks six days and had no heartbeat but the sac was present?

No, honey. Your baby is way to teeny for that! You can't even remotley hear a baby's heartbeat with a good Doppler before 9 or 10 weeks! So don't worry! Besides if the Dr. thought anything was wrong he would have told you! Look at it this way.... if you were 5 weeks along at your last Dr. appt. than your next appointment should be scheduled 4 weeks later which will make you 9 weeks. The doctor might not try to get the baby's heartbeat but ASK HIM TO anyhow! The doctor didn't try mine and he said 9 weeks could be too early to hear it but he tried and got it with not to much difficulty. So tell them a friend heard her baby at 9wks and 5 days and you would like him to try! OK? Good luck on your pregnancy!Pam

What is the earlyest you can feel your baby move in your second pregnancy?

You probably won't feel your baby kick until around week 16 and 22, even though the baby has been moving since week 7 or 8. You may have already witnessed these movements during an ultrasound. This is often felt as a fluttering feeling or a grasshopper walking across your belly during the first movements.

Can you feel your baby move at 1-2 weeka of pregnancy?

No at 6weeks your baby is still an embryo and it's arms and legs are still forming and would just be small buds at this point. You probably will start to feel your baby's movements shortly after the second trimester. I was able to feel my baby's flutters around 16weeks, so something for you to look forward to soon. Best of luck with your pregnancy.

How long can a dead fetus remain in the womb?

Some fetus' need to be removed, but most will come out (if before 12 weeks) usually after 12 weeks it will be removed, it is very dangerous that the fetus is still in the mother, this can cause blood poisoning which can lead to death of the mother if not treated fast. Although, in rare cases fetuses have been known to remain for years and even decades.

Why can a woman not feel her fetus move before the 5th month of pregnany?

I certainly could. I was feeling movement in this pregnancy shortly before 20 weeks, which is 4.5 months. Not everyone starts feeling movement at the same time, though, so not every woman will feel movement that early with every pregnancy, although the vast majority will feel it soon after that.

When does a baby have normal brain waves?

Generally speaking, the first measurable brain waves can be captured on an electroencephalogram (EEG) around the 12th week of pregnancy.

Prior to that, the central nervous system of an embryo begins to develop in a sequence from "tail" to head. The brain tissue and the creation of a spinal cord are some of the early structures that begin the development process of the nervous system, but it will be longer before they are fully functioning.

In the fifth week after conception the first synapses begin forming in an embryo's spinal cord. Conception is traditionally defined as when the egg and sperm unite to form a new human being, initially called a zygote, however several years ago the American Association of Obstetrics and Gynecology decided to change the definition to a week later when the embryo implants in the uterus. To add to the confusion, obstetricians typically date pregnancy from about 3 weeks earlier at the time of the last menstrual period. Thus, it is very important to know what definitions are being used when studying prenatal (before birth) human development. Synapses are what connections of nerves are called. By the seventh week after the embryo begins development, these early neural connections permit the first movements of an embryo. The woman will not feel these movements but researchers can detect the movement through ultrasound imaging. These first movements do not involve fine motor movement but are trunk movements caused by the muscle and central nervous system development.

Other movements will follow--of the limbs (around eight weeks) and fingers (ten weeks), as well as some reflex movements such as hiccuping, stretching, yawning, sucking, swallowing, grasping, and thumb-sucking. By the end of the first trimester (first 3 months), a fetus's movement repertoire is remarkably rich, even though most pregnant women still feel none of it. Many women sense or feel the first fetal movements in the 5th and 6th months of the pregnancy; some may feel something as early as eighteen weeks of pregnancy.

Terminology:

A zygote is the first step in development of an embryo. The zygote formed from the union of 2 haploid cells (sperm and egg) to form one diploid cell. It is the first stage of the embryo. As the embryo is transported don the Fallopian tube to the uterus, further development occurs. At about one week, the blastocyst (name for that stage of embryonic development) implants in the uterine wall. 8 weeks after fertilization, when all organ systems have formed, the embryo is called a fetus up until birth, and then for the first 28 days after birth the medical term is neonate. These are the proper medical terms, but in English the term "baby" or "child" is used from the day the zygote is formed until a year - or several years - after birth. "Infant" can also be used for the first year after birth.
