Jet fighters are called JET fighter because they all have jet engines. Most jet engines, like the ones used on all modern jet fighters, do not have propellers. The jet engine pretty much does the job of conventional propellers.

While propeller would generate a huge amount of thrust for the fighters (some jet engines on non-fighter aircrafts have propellers), propellers are not very effective at higher speeds. Once you hit higher speeds, there's a whole other level of complications with stability and fluid flow that gets added to the problem that propellers are simply not meant for. So if you want a fast, supersonic jet, propellers are not an option. Jet engines (like turbojets and turbofans) is currently the way to go for fighter aircrafts.

The A-10 is a ground attack aircraft, it can carry air to air missiles, however its far too slow, and underpowered to be of any real use in a dog fight, and thus it's limited to ground attack and troop support roles only

There were about 26 models of the Spitfire, most with different Rolls Royce Merlin engines. Early models were 1,030 hp and the final version, 5 years later had a 2,025 hp improvement of the Merlin called Griffon.
