What do you do about thinning of denture plate and small holes?

Dentures are made to last between five to seven years. Perhaps your denture is way above and beyond this measurement of time, and if so you've gotten your money's worth. The denture plate can be rebased, but can only be done by a dental lab or a public denture repair business. Rebase means, to get rid of all the denture acrylic that is at the bottom of the denture that connects to your gums and put new denture acrylic on that area. Once the denture material is taken off, a dental model of your mouth must be provided in order for the denture acrylic to fit snugly around your current gums. To make a dental model of your mouth, a dentist must make an impression of your mouth with the denture in the impression material. Once the denture is sent to a denture repair business, the re-base process can begin, giving you a possible thicker gum line. Some precautions though, you see what you are trying to do is use your old denture to make a new denture. The acrylic gum area may or may not be thin, this is because you are getting the new denture acrylic on an old denture. Small holes, along with a thinning plate sounds like your mouth has changed so much that you may be better off at getting a new denture rather than re basing the old one. Small holes do form when your mouth changes shape, meaning the position of your gum tissue has changed making your mouth wear the dentures into holes. Re-basing is sometimes not the right solution as a new denture is. You can send your dentures to a business that solely focuses on denturerepairservice.com.

Your two year old have a cavity should you fill it or take it out?

That question really needs to answered by a dentist, preferably a pediatric dentist (pedodontist). Age two is too young to lose a tooth, and depending on which one it is, it could have long-term consequences for the child's adult teeth. This is serious. Get to a dentist as soon as possible and discuss which options are best for the child.

What are the chemicals and materials dentures are made out of?

Its important to make sure that correct special tray is used for the chosen impression material i.e. the spacing is accurate

Can you use household glue to repair broken dentures?

Look down below for permanent repair options.

There are at least two brands of adhesives that are designed for repairing dentures. When my mother-in-law knocked her dentures on to the floor, I used the brand that was available at my local drug store. It was the D.O.C. (Dentist On Call) Emergency Denture Repair Kit ($6.49+tax). However, I suspect that the Sea-Bond Emergency Denture Repair Kit would have worked fine, if my drug store stocked it. Likewise for any similar products.

The repair kits have enough materials for a second try if you bond the broken dentures together at the wrong angle or make some other mistake.

My mother-in-law broke her dentures on Monday evening while the drugstore was open, so I was able to repair them that night. She wore the dentures on Tuesday without a problem. I was lucky and had a dentist appointment on Wednesday morning. While I was getting my teeth cleaned, my dentist checked my work.

I knew I had missed a little spot with the glue resulting in a tiny hole in the repair. She said it was too small to be a problem, as long as the dentures were brushed carefully. On the other hand, she felt a little sharp bump. She removed it with her tools. I didn't see the problem. If it happens again, I know to both look and feel for problems. I could have easily removed it with the sandpaper in the kit. I did manage to remove all of the other rough spots.

Now that my dentist has touched up the repair, she said it is safe to use for an extended period. She didn't charge me for the inspection. I brought the kit with me to the dentist, in case she needed the instructions for undoing the gluing.

The instructions say it takes 2 hours of soaking in rubbing alcohol plus cleaning to undo a repair after it has set.

Always have a dentist inspect the repair if you aren't going to get the dentures professionally repaired or replaced in the near future. Even a small bump can lead to irritation which can lead to permanent damage and bone loss. If you need more evidence, a google image search will turn up some rather scary pictures. Rather than attempt to gross you out, I'll just say really bad things have happened due to botched home repairs.

If the proper type of glue isn't available, don't even think of using a glue that isn't safe for use around food. Note that while many epoxy or super glue formulations will set into a form safe to have in your mouth, other formulations will not. If it doesn't say it is safe, assume it is not.

If you get the repair wrong with epoxy or super glue, they are very hard to remove. A botched repair may make it impossible for a professional denture repair technician to do the job right. Also, few, if any, household adhesives are colored to match dentures.

Most glues are not made to survive the hostile environment of a continuous warm and moist mouth. Overtime, the glues that are used to repair dentures will break away from your denture caused from the constant rubbing of food and saliva. This is one of the reasons why using any kind of glue just won't last. If you have repaired your denture with glue, in most cases it can be easily removed by a denture repair professional for a small cost. Perhaps after understanding why using any glues can be harmful, you may be interested in getting your denture repair professionally done by a dentist. Most Dentist's send their work to a dental lab from which a denture lab professional will correct the issue, but in our case we suggest you visit www.BrokenDentureRepair.net where all dentures are inspected by a experienced dentist and also repaired properly by an experienced dentist.

Can you have all your teeth removed and replaced with denture?

hmm well i am in no way clued up on this subject but after a quick look around the net it becomes apparent that yes you can have all your teeth replaced with full dental implants this is something i have just started to look at myself. but with not much mentioned about cost , this is probably one of the better alternatives to replacement teeth if ur looking for fixed teeth. it can be done as long as you have enough jaw bone left, this may be determend by if u still have teeth at the time of getting implantes or indeed how long u have been without teeth, as i mentioned before i am in no way a dentist but i think that the longer u have been without teeth then the bone that once held your tooth or teeth will have drasticly reduced in size as it has not ben used and thinks it is fine to shrink down, all this along with what other work your chosen dentist may have to carry out prior to the work being done like removal of old decayed teeth i can only imagine can make the cost run sky high as we all know dentistry is in no way cheap in the first place.an obvious alternative to cost would be to go abroad for treatment i think this way you may even be able to cut the cost by more than half. i hope this helped a little.

Why do cavities hurt?

For a cavity to cause pain, it must touch a nerve. Since the only nerves in teeth are deep inside it, you don't notice any pain until the cavity actually gets near the nerve.

Is denture cleaner poisonous?

No, denture cleaner is not safe to eat. It is not a food item. Because it is a cleaning material, even though it is for a mouth related item, it should not be ingested in any way.

If you have ingested denture cleaner, please call poison control or go to your nearest emergency room for treatment.

Does it hurt to have a dental filling?

Well I'm 10 and five days ago I got two cavities filled on the right side of my mouth. iT WAS THE EASIEST THING EVER!!! The only thing I was afraid of was getting the novacain shot, and I shouldn't have been. Before your dentist gives you the injection, ask him to put a little bit of numbing cream or gel, on your gum. When he actually gives you the shot, you WILL NOT FEEL A THING!!! The only thing you will feel is a little bit of water on your mouth.... The only thing that may be a little achey is keepin your mouth open while the dentist "drills" Ps. It's not actually a drill, it's a little tube that blows really strong air and cold water onto your teeth... The only thing to watch out for would be not to eat for a little bit after you get it filled. It's not bad for your tooth, it's just that you might bite your lip REALLY hard and not notice it ( I did it a million times and now my mouth still really hurts) GOOD LUCK. :)

Which is better dental bridge or implant?

There are advantages and disadvantages to each treatment. For instance, an implant does not require the prepping of adjacent teeth. On the other hand, a bridge can be completed usually in a couple of weeks, whereas an implant takes several months.

Every individual situation is unique and different. You will be best served by discussing your specific case with one or more qualified dentists. Seek a second opinion until you are confident you have enough information to make an informed decision on how to proceed and which treatment to pursue.

Are acrylic denture teeth better than plastic denture teeth?

Do you mean the teeth made of acrylic or the plate which holds the teeth made of it?

Of the alternatives which I know, you can have individual teeth or even all your teeth replaced by teeth which are screwed into your upper and lower jaws, but it's extremely expensive.

What does it feel like when getting a cavity filled with no numbing medicine?

No. When I was a child, fillings were routinely done without anaesthesia or numbing. It did hurt, but you could take it. Sometimes the Novocaine shot can be just as brutal.

Of course, those were also the days when you got a sugar candy treat on your way out as a reward for being good. We hadn't really made the connection between sugar and cavities yet. Things are better now on both scores.

Can you use sea bond denture wafers with another adhesive?

Yes, you can use Sea Bond denture wafers alongside another adhesive, but it's important to follow the manufacturer's instructions for both products. The wafers are designed to provide a secure fit on their own, so adding another adhesive may not be necessary and could potentially affect adhesion or comfort. If you choose to combine them, apply the wafer first and then the adhesive, testing for any potential irritation or discomfort. Always consult with a dental professional if you have concerns about your denture care routine.

What is a dentures?

A modular denture is a pre-made denture (like a modular house that needs to be put together) it usually comes in sizes like small, medium, and large. It needs to be adapted and fitted to an individual patient by a dentist using a relining material. These dentures are usually used only for emergencies as the quality, fit, and bite are compromised, compared to a custom made denture. They are rarely used and have limited availability and usage.

What's the best way to clean my dentures?

The Best Way to Clean Your Dentures

As a Dental Technician for the past 44 years, I have made thousands of dentures and this is what I recommend:

First, look to see if your denture has a soft liner. This will be a soft surface on the denture side that fits against your mouth. If you are not sure, press the surface with you fingernail. If it makes a mark then you likely have a soft liner in you appliance. Second, if you see any silver metal on your denture either clasp or silver palate DO NOT use step 6 below. Doing so will make your soft liner turn hard and any metal will get a tarnished color.

1- Always brush your denture over a sink full of water. The most likely place you will damage your denture is dropping it in the sink while it is being brushed. It takes just a few seconds to fill the sink and you will be glad your did when you drop it.

2-Brush your denture with a denture brushavailable at any drug store. Never use a standard tooth brush. The bristles in a normal tooth brush are made of nylon and will cut groves in your denture acrylic.

3-NEVER brush your denture back and forth like you were scrubbing the kitchen floor, Brush you denture from the top to the biting edge of the tooth like you would natural teeth.

4- Baking soda is an excellent cleaner for your denture. You can also use regular tooth paste is you prefer.

5-Soak your denture in a glass of plain water or you may add a little baking soda to the water to soak overnight.

6-About once a month you may soak your denture in a glass of half water and half Clorox over night This will remove any stains that have attached to your denture. Once a month only, you do not want to bleach the color out of your denture.

It is not necessary to use any commercial cleaner on your denture and many may actually harm your denture. If you have had to avoid step six above do not use commercial cleaners. Most use oxidizing agents the same as a Clorox solution. They will in time damage the soft liner and tarnish any metal on your appliance.
