How much does it cost to remove vct tile?

It varies greatly from product to product and from market

to market. The best way to get an answer is to put an ad on Craigslist

telling what you want installed, the more detail you can give the better the quote will be... ie..

"3/4 inch, unfinished oak hardwood over wood subfloor,

new construction, 400 sq feet, need it done this week, paying cash.".

The lesson here is that the more detail you put in the ad, the better the quote.. You will have to understand that not every installer has Golden Hands, some are thieves & butchers, so you may not always want the low bidder..

By using the clean water this time mop the floor again thoroughly.

Allow the floor to dry naturally.

How you removed bad stain from your bamboo flooring?

I'm afraid there are no good solutions. The best option would probably be to very precisely use wood bleach on the stain. Now the stain will be a bleached out spot - then using sample pieces of bleached bamboo find the correct stain or mixture of stains to replicate the color of the rest of the floor. Using a fine grade of sandpaper, you would then sand the area and attempt to blend the top-coat finish. Unless you are very patient, meticulous, and skilled, there will always be a blemish.

Can you use floor tile on the wall on top of old 4x4 tile?

I wouldn't recommend it. Most wall tiles are very smooth and wouldn't have any grit for the thin-set to adhere to.

What is the average cost per square foot for installation of hardwood flooring?

Unfortunately, this answer is directly related to 'what city' you are wanting your installation of 'what wood'. Bamboo is one of the latest popular types, and ebony would be more expensive.

What is the average price per sq-ft for tile installation around Chicago Illinois?

It varies from contractor to contractor. Size and type of tile. Design. Cuttings, edges, corners, doors, closets, islands, etc. Location. It is best to get a bid (at least 3-4). Make sure your bids have references and pictures. Remember you get what you pay for. The lowest bid may not be the good and may have hidden costs and sloppy work. A quality tiler is worth the price you pay and you are pleased with the work.

I have bid on many tile jobs and I wasn't the low bidder, but I was honest and thorough in what needed to be done and how much it would cost. I got the job and the homeowner was very pleased with the work

Can epoxy based flooring be installed over plywood flooring?

In a word, no.

In may words: Yes, it can, but you must understand what epoxy-based flooring actually is. If you are referring to products typically used to coat concrete garage floors, epoxy-based flooring is essentially a very resilient, thick paint (but actually not very thick at all compared to vinyl-sheet flooring or hardwood boards). Because it resists chemical staining and things like scuffing, it is ideal for a quick cosmetic improvement on hard surfaces like concrete. Concrete doesn't shift very much from temperature and moisture changes, so despite an occasional crack wherever the concrete cracks, epoxy stays where it is put when applied over concrete, if applied properly.

Plywood, on the other hand, shift dramatically due to temperature and moisture changes. Even if it is impervious to moisture from above, say if vinyl is placed over it, it will absorb moisture from underneath and on the sides. Nothing can be practically done to prevent wood from seasonal shifting. With that in mind, no matter how thick epoxy is applied to a large plywood subsurface, within a year as the seasons change, every sheet of plywood will become visible and the epoxy will crack at each seam. As general rule, one shouldn't apply a hard surface to a soft (wood surface).

If you are trying to cover a plywood floor inexpensively, your best options are vinyl-sheet flooring (sometimes incorrectly referred to as "linoleum"), carpet, or maybe even vinyl tiles. If you are determined to use some type of painting solution, just use acrylic-latex paint designed for outdoor decks, which are widely available at home improvement stores. It will be less expensive and will be able to shift with the seasonal changes in the wood, and also cover the grain of the wood in a more aesthetically pleasing manner. Good luck.

How many square feet is a 16x11 tile?

It depends on the units used for 16x11. There will be a different answer depending on whether they are feet, inches, yards, metres, centimetres or some other measure of length.

How many 20in by 20in tiles to tile a 25ft by 17 ft room?

25ft * 17ft = 425 sq ft = 61200 sq in

So, number of tiles required = 61200/(20*20) = 153

That is as far as mathematics is concerned. It is assumed that each and every bit of offcut is utilised. An assumption that is neither realistic nor likely to resust in a "neat" finish. It is also assumed that there are no breakages. In real life, get 5-10% more tiles - depending on your skill level and the number of tiles in a box or pack.

Can you install a new hardwood floor over existing hardwood floor?

Nope, you need to take out the old one, i believe.

Edit - No, I disagree with this. This depends on the situation. If you have a hardwood floor installed on top of plywood, it is generally better to remove the hardwood and replace it. But, if there is no subfloor (and this is sometimes the case in the older homes in our area), then sometimes it is actually fine to install on top of the hardwood. The hardwood (or often pine if it's older) then becomes the subfloor and then you can nail on top of that. It is important, though, that the hardwood is installed perpendicular (or diagonal to that) for better installation.

Oh, and it's important to look at heights and make sure there is enough clearance for the wood and that doors can be opened (or shaved).

How many 18 x 18 tiles to cover 440 square foot floor?

It depends on whether the tiles are 18 cm * 18 cm, or 18 in * 18 in or any other units of linear measurement which the question does not specify.

Is it safe to mop laminate flooring?

Yes, but maybe not with too much water. Its the best way to clean laminate flooring actually.

How much is new flooring?

Determining which type of flooring to use depends upon the purpose of the room.

For a bathroom or kitchen, ceramic tile would be a good choice since it's durable and easy to clean. For the living areas, hardwoods or carpet can make a room really attractive.

Any type of flooring can be practical and long lasting so it's up to your and your personal choice.
