Is the toy fox terrier a good lapdog?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

toy fox terriers are not very good lap dogs. they are meant to be active and alert, so they will only set as lap dogs when tired and bored. it also depends on how you train or raise it. for example, if you train it to jump onto your lap, it will become a lap dog. but even when trained, the toy fox terrier cannot live without exercise and plying. it is necessary to them, and mandatory.

Why do Jack Russells bring rodents in the house?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Jack Russell terriers are bred to ground small rodents such as rabbits, gophers, rats etc. They kill and bring them to you because it is in their nature to do so. The dog is well bred apparently

It is in their nature because farmers in the past and probably present day use terriers to clean their barns of rats.

They were originally bred to fox hunt and so they have very strong hunting instincts. All these traits provide them with the ability to dig and chase rodents, rabbits, and foxes.

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

A toy fox terrier reaches maturity at 9months to 1 year bu t a female dog (bitch) could be in her first heat (when you can mate) when she is 18 months old toy fox terrier goes into this 28 days to 6month period twice a year. You need two find a good stud dog to breed your female stud dog is a male dog to breed with a female. i personal prefer to spay or nurture your amery toy (toy fox terrier). And don't breed for fun we don't want to increase the unwanted dog population.
