Turn on unit. (adjust squelch to mute, to silence if you want) Press MANUAL button. Press MANUAL button again to select the channel you want to program. Note the channel in the display. If there is a hyphenated symbol in the upper left corner the channel has been locked out. Press the LOCKOUT button once to remove the symbol or press the LOCKOUT button to lock a channel out. To find out if there is a frequency programed into that channel, press the PREVIEW button. Each digit of the frequency that is stored in memory will be displayed in the LED display. To program a new frequency into that channel, simply press the digits of the frequency you want, including the decimal point. Press the "E" keypad key to enter it into memory. If you get a "E" displayed in the LED display, the frequency was entered wrong, is not a valid frequency or is out of range for the scanner. Last but least, the scanner is not working properly. If the channel is active, (communications going over it) set SQUELCH to higher number, until you hear the communications or just noise. To set the SQUELCH, select a channel that has only noise and turn it down to the point the noise disappears. You make have to readjust it to your liking. Once you have the channels programed you can select the SCAN button to listen to all the channels or select the MANUAL button to listen to just one channel. If there are channels that you don't want to hear during the scan mode, go to MANUAL and select the channel you don't want to hear and press LOCKOUT button. Then press SCAN again it will only scan channels you want to hear.

you cant. doing so requires special equipment more advanced than a police scanner. police in some areas use cell phones over their radio for privacy issues. for example if police are busting a party for underage drinking, they use cell phones to communicate so that anyone who has a scanner cant warn everyone to run or not answer the door. police scanners use radio waves, cell phones are on a different frequency. cell phones now also use encryption.

With radio on, press manual, enter the group you want the new freq to be on. 1-5. enter the channel, enter the freq by pressing the number keys, press enter. The desired freq should remain on that channel until changed. Press manual for the next channel to be progrqmmed.

Signals are sent from a police officer's radio to a "Repeater" located on a building somewhere. That repeater will have a signal code. for example... 159.900 is a signal frequency code. When your scanner is set on that code, or any other code, it will receive the transmissions from that code where ever you are that the signal will reach.

First make sure that there is a live battery in the scanner. The battery is located under the plate on the rear of the scanner, you can remove the plate with a philips screwdriver and put a fresh 9v battery in.

Step 1. Turn on the scanner and put it in manual mode.

Step 2. Flick the Manual switch downward until you find the channel you wish to program.

Step 3. Push the "Program Button" on the right hand side keypad.

Step 4. Input your frequency and hit the "enter" key on the right hand side keypad.

Repeat process until all of your desired frequencies are programmed into the 16 channels.

There are scanners that can allow the average person to listen to police calls, but they may be somewhat hard to find. Many years ago, the "police band" was 1650 to 1750 kHz, and large home radio sets were able to tune those frequencies - people sat at home on dull evenings and listened to police calls - I'm old enough to remember that!

To unlock a Uniden 148XLT scanner, you typically need to enter a specific unlock code. This code can usually be found in the user manual or obtained from Uniden's customer support. Additionally, some scanners may have a physical lock switch that needs to be flipped to unlock the device. Ensure the scanner is powered on while performing these steps.

No. I saw nothing about it being able to decode APCO codes. I also was not able to locate anything in the manual about it being able to handle trunked systems.

Press the "band" button

Keep pressing the "band" button until you come within the parameters of the frequency that you want

Let the radio scan until it gets close to the actual frequency that you're looking for

Press the "hold" button and use the arrow "up" or "down" button till you lock in the correct frequency

Once you have the frequency locked in, press the "program" button

Press the "private" button

The unused channel will be flashing

Press the "program" button, this locks the frequency into that channel

Continue this process until all of the frequencies are loaded into the radio

One should program a Regency Scanner with the model number r1077 by first turning the device's power on. Then press the manual button until the channel wanted is shown. Once the channel number is shown hit enter, which will make the frequency channel that number. Then one can go to the next channel number and hit hold, or delay, to hold the number for dispatch.
