How far are the stars at the center of the milky way compared to points on the spiral arms?
About 50,000 light years.
What galaxy was discovered in 1845?
It is wildly believed that the Whirlpool Galaxy (Messier 51a) was discovered in 1845.
However, it was actually discovered in 1773. It was only recognised as a spiral galaxy in 1845.
Does different galaxies have different planets?
That is very likely, although for obvious reasons, all planets discovered so far (or most of them?) are in our own galaxy.
Is spiral the same thing as oval?
No. A spiral looks more like stairs or a spring. While an oval is closer to a semi round shape.
Is it true the universe is not bigger than the world?
No. Of course not. The universe is big enough to hold earth and all the other planets in the Milky Way Galaxy and all other galaxies and the sun and the moon and the stars. There is no way that the universe could be smaller that Earth. =)
What does 'on a downward spiral' mean?
The term word on a downward spiral means a great deal of depression which can worsen if not treated by the proper medications, you will have good and bad days.
That possibility has been considered before. The basic idea is that the Universe collapses due to gravity, and then expands again in the next Big Bang. However, there are several problems with that. For one, the Second Law of Thermodynamics would still apply. In other words, the next universe would be different from the current one, and the cycle could not continue forever. (Note: If you want to understand astronomy, a basic understanding of the Second Law is a must.) Also, this is not supported by observational evidence. For this to happen, the expansion of the Universe would have to slow down over time. The opposite is actually happening: the expansion of the Universe is accelerating.
How many stars are in our galaxy approximately?
There are approximately 200 to 400 billion stars in our galaxy. Milky Way is one of the biggest known galaxies.
Is the mikey way galaxy bigger than any other galaxy?
Definetaly not. The are billions upon billions of other galaxies in the universe that are muc bigger than the milky way
What would stars be like if carbon had the smallest mass per nuclear particle?
Supernovae would be more common
What is the temperature of the little dipper?
It doesn't have a temperature. It's a group of individual stars.
What famous stars are in the big dipper?
Probaly none. The only possible "famous" star is Alioth.
The main stars are:-
What did Harlow Shapley discover?
Harlow Shapley studied globular clusters and used the position of the clusters to locate the sun in the middle of our galaxy. He found out he was wrong but figured out that the sun was in one of the spiral arms in our galaxy
What discovery did the optical telescopes make?
the optical telescope has discovered objects on earth and in space
The Hubble Deep Field was an image taken by the Hubble Space Telescope over a period of about ten days, of a particularly dark patch of sky. If you looked in this area for a minute you would see nothing. Stray photons of light were captured and collected, and stacked and filtered, and the result revealed the light from thousands of distant galaxies. By measuring the number of degrees across the photo, and counting the galaxies, it became possible to estimate the number of galaxies in our universe.
There are about one hundred billion of them, or 100,000,000,000. That is a one followed by eleven zeroes, or 1 x 10^11 in scientific notation. Any way you say it, it is still a lot.
Its possible that their could be another world with a living thing thats living just like us but according to reaserch no on has found it out yet.so their really is no right answer to this qeustion
A blue spiral flower typically refers to a flower exhibiting a spiral arrangement of petals or structures, often in a vibrant blue color. One well-known example is the blue morning glory, which features a distinct spiral form as it blooms. These flowers are often admired for their striking appearance and are commonly found in gardens and natural settings. The spiral formation can also symbolize growth and the cyclical nature of life in various cultures.
What kind of galaxy is Betelgeuse in?
Our own galaxy, the Milky Way. In general, most stars that have a proper name (as opposed to just a catalog number), and definitely all stars you can see with the naked eye (except for an occasional supernova) are part of our own galaxy.
