What if your shepherd is female and 7 years old should you breed her?

If she still has her menstrual cycle you could but if she had never had them before I don't suggest it. Chances are she would have an unhealthy litter and wouldn't know how to care for them.

Also she is in the prime of her life which could put strain on her.

What Brands of Puppy Food are best for German Shepherd Puppiesand how much do they cost?

Well I can't say for sure on the puppy food but I do have a recommendation for adult food. I would suggest the "Pinnacle" brand and any formula.

I have an 18 month old German Shepard, Dutch Shepard mix and he has been on this food since 8 months old when is supposed to be the earliest you can put them on adult food. When I got him he was on Purina puppy chow. I started him in protection training with a local trainer who loves GSD's and does all sorts of training. He does police dogs, personal protection, guide dogs etc, etc. I have known this trainer for over 15 years and he knows what he is talking about. When I asked him about food he said it has to be Pinnacle.

Since I put him on it he started eating better, has more energy, put on healthy muscle weight, and has been eliminating less amounts. He is now huge too. He was supposed to be the runt of the litter and no one wanted him which is how i ended up with him. Also his coat is almost blinding in the sun. kinda like those vampires in that twilight movie my fiance made me go see and i am not exaggerating. At 18 months he now weighs around 100lbs and has a 28 inch neck and is showing no signs of stopping. When he sits the top of his ears are almost at chest level to my fiance. she is like 5'4 inches tall. I know the food can't make him turn into a giant but he has remained healthy, happy and energetic through all of his growing. Also I had a roommate at the time that had a pit bull puppy the same age that constantly had diarrhea (he was also on the Purina puppy food). In less than a week he had no more problems and hasn't since.

I did some research on the food and it says that most formulas are for puppies as well as adults.

Now the drawback......price. I feed my dog the chicken and oats formula it is $53 for a 30lb bag and that is the cheapest formula.

First off I would stay away from the Nutro brand. I have friends that feed it to their pitbulls and was recommend by their vet who is a noted and trustworhty vet in our area and has saved 2 of my cats lives. However I had my GSD for 2 months when I tried to put him on a different food. I bought the Nutro and gave him some and left for work. At work I started looking up reviews on the food and found a 200 page website (here is the link http:/wwwzperiodzconsumeraffairszperiodzcom/pets/nutrozperiodzhtml ) that I didn't like at all.

A lot of the complaints were to dogs having to be put down or died because of vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration ,and neurological disorders. Needless to say I got home that morning and found my dog throwing up ever where and had horrible diarrhea. I know this is common when you change their food but i did mix it with the old food like I was supposed too. It does not change the fact that in the two months i had him he was never sick EVER! I do feed him the Nutro bones for healthy teeth and good breath (the ones in the blue box) all reviews were good on them.

Is a German shepherds bit stronger than an akita?

Definatley not.

An Akita is a fighting dog whearas a GSD is a Herder.

An Akita has a higher pain threshold and could ruin a GSD witrhin a few minutes if it really had its mind set.

They are a much more powerful breed over all.

Nope. Some breeds, like the GSD, have to grow into their paws... But you can never rely on the size then.

What is behavioral patterns for a shepherd chow mix?

Probably the most common behaviour would be food aggressive bud also a good family pet. chow shepherds tend to be very friendly to kids but still gets a little aggressive. They are very friendly towards other people and animals so it really depends on the gender of the bred parents. If the mom was a Shepherd then it would be a little kinder then a chow but still a little aggressive. If the mom is a chow, it would most likely have the behaviour of a chow. but it would look a little more like a shepherd.

I actually owned a pure Chow and Loved her. She was Wonderful with Children. Chows were bred to protect, In China they were used to watch over Children. However they are loyal and Love their pack or family. Anyway, They tend to want to be Dominate However, if trained properly will be Great with other pets as well.

I now own two Shepherd/Chow mix Dogs. They are Both Beautiful. They are Great with Children, Cats and Other Dogs. The Shepherd in them makes them a bit more high strung then a Chow. They are very smart and Love to Play. A bit suspicious of New people, but never aggressive. They should show signs of interest in new items. They need a lot of attention and will become bored if left alone for to long. So should be in a home were there is always someone there. They also Love to go for walks and rides in the Car. Every Animal is different and they all have their own personality. A Chow/Shepherd Mix is a Great Family Pet and seems to be easy to train.
