Where can you eat German food in La Grange Texas?
did put a large list down but someone took it off.
Just type in 'restaurants in La Grange, Texas' into google. That's where I found them.
If you do decide to get a German Shepherd puppy, you need to make sure you have the time for one. A German Shepherd is one of the world's best companions, so it is a great family dog.
A female German Shepherd will be more protective of children because of their motherly instincts. A female is less likely to stray than a male. But, when it comes to protection, a female fights more in a "scappy" way.
A male German Shepherd will be more protective....as they are normally used as police dogs. (I guess it must be in the hormones) Males will "fight to the death" if something is threatening you or your family. Although, even if you get the males fixed, they are likely to stray if they sense a female in heat.
But, whatever gender you choose, you are getting a great dog. And, you should get them fixed to give them a longer life.
I have had both females and males in my lifetime and they are both great.
I think a female would be best if you have young children. But, it is you choice.
I hope you enjoy your new German Shepherd puppy.

There are several possibilities, but a vet should be consulted for a diagnosis. It is possible it is from degenerative myelitis, a disease that effects GSDs and their ability to use their hind quarters.
Who would win a trianed German shepherd or a pitbull?
A shepherd will not stand a chance against a pit that comes out of bloodlines that produce fighting dogs. The shepherd simply lacks "gameness" and the pit has it in spades. Also, the police use shepherds, who by the way, really do bite and hold a suspect, unlike what someone else said, because they used to be a very versatile breed before they stuck their heads in the confirmation toilet. The police do not use the pit, who although would make a great police dog and he will out, because of the stigma associated with the breed.

What do wild German Shepherds eat?
There are brands of food that are specially formulated for German Shepherds. However, these are usually filled with corn or other grains which offer very little nutrition. There are plenty of brands out there that will work just fine. With dog food, you usually get the quality you pay for. Staying away from foods that have a lot of cereals and other grain in would be best. Pick a food that has a high meat content. I have five German Shepherds and I feed my dogs Canidae which has more than enough fat and protein for them. A puppy or a pregnant/lactating needs to have a food that is at least 17% fat and 28% protein.
There are also many people who feed their dogs strictly a raw diet which consists of meat, bones, organs and sometimes with a small amount of vegetables, fruits and vitamins. While there are people who do a mix of kibble and raw.
It is up to you how you feed your dog. But the bottom line is do your homework and feed them a quality food.

Can you break a German Shepherd from chasing and sometimes killing other animals?
If you are truly serious and want to save this dog's life (or some other owner will force you to have it put down) then find a good trainer for this dog. There is a chance "first blood" and it's too late, but I believe in giving the dog a chance. Please keep this dog away from other people and especially children. Although the dog may appear docile to you, you're the owner and you have no idea what your dog is capable of. German Shepherds were using during the 2nd World War, and also as attack dogs for the Germans, as well as for property protection in the U.S. and Canada and also police officers will use them. They have been so imbred by breeders the bloodlines have become weak and thus, that is why the poodle is being introduced into so many other breeds such as labs, beagles, cocker spaniels, etc. My father had a friend who was a police officer. He was trained with his dog "Blast" and he would bring the dog home with him after shift to become part of the family. This dog had been in the family home for over 4 years and they had no problems with it. One evening he and his wife were expecting company for dinner, so without giving it a thought, the wife went to the dining room table to remove her husbands leather gloves and the dog charged her and literally tore her arm off! There ya go! This is a sighn of serious agression trying to fix this on your own maybe very dangerous so read everything dont just stop reading!BUT before you do let me tell you this it may seem like it may not work but try it. 1)always be calm/submissive around your dog 2)get your dog and take it on atleasta 45 - 60minute walk 3)while on your walk you will have to face alot of obstacles dont get scared never while doing this or it will transfer right to your dog and then turn him nervous and attack!never say (good boy, its okay, you want a treat!)never i mean never or you will just tell him its okay, go ahead keep doing what your doing. 4)the dog will throw a bit of fights and start throwing himself every where dont panic stay calm.there is also another thing i learned theres a part of his body that just makes him stop and focus back at you i think it is between the rib cage area. there is probably other problems triggering this reaction he/she probably does not get enough excersise(letting him run around in a yard does not countbecause if you got your dog from a kennel he feels like hes coming from on kennel to another and that just builds up more tension.if this is a serious case i prefer you not to do this by yourself.

Is raw chicken bad for a German Shepherd?
There has been a movement in recent years to feed household pets what they would eat in nature. Several companies make grain-free food and even some make raw food for cats and dogs. Raw chicken theoretically isn't bad for your German shephard...as long as it's Salmonella free. That's not a given when you buy it from the grocery store. It's assumed you will cook it past a given temperature where Salmonella couldn't survive.
If you check the FDA or USDA websites for recalls you will see that one very large manufacturer of dog and cat food had a large recall. The food being produced was somehow contaminated by Salmonella. Most of what I read indicated that the PEOPLE feeding their dogs became infected. I'm not certain if any animals became ill or died.
If you want to feed your animal raw chicken you might look into some of the companies making raw foods. They are usually supplemented with ground bone (because if your dog ate a chicken the bones would be eaten as well), vitamins and minerals.
