What do the numbers on a golf wedge mean?
It is the order number of the clubs. Ordered by the angle of the club. With smaller number, the ball will raise lower when hit. Usually smaller number clubs are used for longer shots, which is mostly achieved by longer shaft of the club thus giving more speed for the ball. Bigger number clubs are used for more precise shots. Ball will stop faster after hitting the ground, because dropping velocity will be greater when the height of the shot is higher.

How do you play Texas Scramble if teams of three?
Texas Scramble Rules
1. Each team will consist of four players. 2. All players can tee off at each hole.
3. The nominated team captain then selects the best drive and marks the position (within 6 inches) with a tee peg (not nearer the hole). A minimum of four tee shots per player to be used. The remaining two drives can be used by any of the players.
4. The other players then retrieve their balls.
5. The player whose ball has been chosen then plays his next shot first.
6. The remaining players then play within six inches of the tee peg (not nearer the hole). Note! Golf balls shall be placed on closely mown areas and dropped if the chosen ball in play is in the rough or a hazard.
7. The above method of play is followed until the green is reached.
8. On the green the same method applies. The ball chosen is marked by a putter head length and players putt from the same spot in turn.
9. Each player must mark the ball after putting. Play continues from each chosen position until the ball is holed.
10. The score is the total number of shots from the chosen spots (including the tee shot). Note! If a player putts and misses but then inadvertently knocks the ball into the hole, then that score counts.
At the end of the round the total for each hole is added together and the strokes received subtracted to give the total net medal score for the round. The winning team will be the one with the lowest medal score.
All other rules of golf apply to the "Ball in Play" In particular please be aware of Rule 14.2. Team members are not allowed to position themselves on or close to an extension of the line of play or the line of putt behind the ball.
A lot has changed over the past 100 years or so in professional and amateur golf. One of the newest developments in the game is the advent of what's known as The Starter Coin. The Starter Coin has effectively changed the way that honors is selected on the first tee box. Where the archaic method required flipping a tee several times to decide golfing order, the Starter Coin determines golfing order in one flip. If you haven't seen one in use yet, it probably won't be long if you golf regularly. It's a much more accurate and fair method of starting the game, which is important considering golf has always depended heavily on etiquette and integrity.
In golf are you allowed to hit the ball with a putter in the rough?
Yes, of course. You can use the putter for every shot if you wish, though it would not be to your advantage to do so. Still, it is allowed.
What is the volume of a golf ball?
The smallest ball permitted by USGA rules is 1.68 inches in diameter, which would yield a minimum volume of about 2.48 cubic inches (40.68 cm3) -- the dimples vary in number and depth, so the displaced volume would be slightly smaller. Historically, there was a smaller "British" ball that yielded some advantage in distance.
How to compute
V = 4/3 (pi) r3 (4 x 3.1416 x radius cubed)
How to measure
The easiest way to check would be to put a golf ball in a beaker of water. Fill a 200 ml beaker with water, and place the ball in. Catch the overflow in another measured beaker. Since water is almost exactly 1 ml = 1 cc, the liquid displaced by the completely submerged ball will provide a close estimate of its volume in cm3.
How much does a golf course superintendent make?
First, you must have a formal education in agronomy, turfgrass management. Next years of experience are needed to be able to handle managing the entire golf course (many different types of turf varieties, and their problems such as diseases, insects, and weeds that grow within their environment.) on top of this all the trees and shubs as well, not to mention dealing with mother nature. This career is often considered by the ill-informed to be "landscaping", mowing the turf is just one of the many aspects of this job and even this is very involved and takes a great deal of knowledge. As a superintendent you are responsible for an entire crew as well. You must be able to motivate people to work hard long hours for little compensation. You also would have to be able to understand, create, and follow a budget. Depending on the type of golf facility this can range from 250,000 to well over a million. whatever the budget a superintedent most often earns up to ten percent, and at a course 250,000 to 400,000 probably earns about 40k. This career requires a great deal of hard work, experience, and intelligence. Less than 15 percent of supers are compensated with six figures or more. For budgets of 400K and up, the Superintendent is usually paid 10% of the budget. 700k budget, paid 70k, 1.2 million budget, 120K and so forth. Average work hours for a Superintendent range from 55 - 80 hours per week. A Certified Golf Course Superintendent averages 85k per year. There are only 1600 Certified Superintendents in the world.
