A sign that your question lacked some of the information necessary to convert the 5.237 from its original scale to a 4.0 GPA scale.

There is no such grade as F minus. When someone gets an F on a test or their report card, they have failed the test or class, and they cannot get any lower than this failure.
What is the lowest GPA the university of Chicago will allow for admission?
Most highly selective colleges (the Ivy Leagues, Stanford, UChicago, etc.) do not have cutoff test scores or cutoff GPAs that they use in admissions. Unlike large state schools, which use formulas to factor in GPA/scores, admissions at more selective schools are generally very holistic.
UChicago specifically states that even though the majority of their applicant pool has great numerical credentials, non-numerical components of the application are JUST AS IMPORTANT and admitted students have a wide variation of scores and GPAs.
For example, a student with a 2.0 GPA and a 1050/1600 SAT score could very well be admitted to UChicago IF he writes an absolutely amazing essay, gets terrific recommendations, and has oustanding extracurricular activities. Of course, with lower grades comes the need to balance with truly amazing accomplishments outside of the classroom- raising millions of dollars for charities, founding the next Microsoft, writing a bestseller, getting your plays recognized by Broadway. Yes, you're in high school, so it's very difficult to do these things, but it happens!
However the easiest way to get into UChicago or the school of your dreams IS to focus on your GPA. Though there's no official cutoff, admissions officers DO LOOK AT YOUR TRANSCRIPT EXTREMELY CAREFULLY. Challenge yourself with Honors/AP courses to get it up; most schools offer weighting and quality points for these harder classes.
In fact, UChicago publishes a list, in descending order of importance to them, of what they're looking for in the admissions office.
Very important admission factors:

Thus, GPA is not even a "very important factor" to them.
Also, a lot of kids who are admitted to Harvard/Yale/Princeton/Stanford are rejected by UChicago. Why? UChicago is unique because they're really scouring your essay for passion and most of all CREATIVITY. With a school motto as "the life of the mind," they want unique thinkers who will add new dimension to their campus. Thinking outside of the box for your essay will score you points in the application process. STAND OUT!! Don't just answer their essay questions, ask a question back or take a new spin to them! With strange topics like "How did you get caught?" they are looking for essays that are really different.
Yes
An A average (90-100) is a 4.0
a B average (80-89) is a 3.0,
a C average (70-79) is a 2.0.
a D average (60-69) is a 1.0
and a F average (0-59) is 0.0
Assuming that each of those classes is of equal value (none get extra credit for honors or less credit as a lab etc...) -
A=4
B=3
C=2
D=1
F=0
For example, you have an equation that looks like:
(1A+4B+1C)/6
6 is the number of grades or classes in the equation
So it's:
(4+12+2)/6
18/6
3.00
Your GPA is 3.0 or B
Do people ever get a GPA of 0.0?
Yes, people can get a GPA of 0.0, but it's uncommon. Many people who achieve such a distinction do so by not going to class and/or completing the work. Very few actually get a 0.0 GPA with good attendance and completion of all assignments/exams, but some people don't know when to withdraw or drop out. If you're only taking one or two classes and fail them, it's bad, but nothing like failing four/five classes.
9.0/(topper's cgpa)*4 = ur GPA
What is the grade out of 23 out of 37?
43/70 is 61%. How that translates into the grading system of your particular school or country may differ. In most parts of the United States, this is an F grade, since F consists of all values between 0.0%-64.9%. In Spain, by contrast, this is a 6 grade, which is just above failure, but not quite failure (like a "D" in the United States).
Will the Citadel accept a 2.5 GPA?
They might.
Some ways a person with a low GPA can improve their chances at joining the Citadel is
Yes, it is extremely good. In theory, it's impossible to get a 6.0 at most schools, because you can't take all AP or advanced classes. Even an A-honor roll student in as many advanced classes as possible only gets anywhere from 5.1-5.7 GPA, though the upper range is almost unheard of. However, some schools are on different scales. In some schools, 5.0 is the best possible GPA, or even 4.0. Though I've never heard of a school that's on a 7.0 grading system (Which would make a 6.0 a fairly good GPA), there might be one.
