Can Guinea pigs eat smoked ham?

I have owned guinea pigs for that past 10 years, I have smoked around them for years now and they have all lived a full life.

The last answer someone posted to this was total crap man.

I deleted it because it had no relevance.

Now, they said it would get Tar into their lungs. Now let me just add, Tar comes directly from the source (cigarette, cigar, pipe).

They won't get tar in their lungs, they WILL get a little short of breath in a smoky room, BUT, they will be fine once the room clears. If its only you smoking in a room then the guinea pig will be fine, depending on the size of the room obviously.

Carbon Monoxide causes them to lose breath a little, and it WILL affect them on the long run if you smoke a lot. Just, remember to have an air conditioner on. Also, I run a desk fan to blow my smoke away from the cage, also, remember its Best to smoke when its inside its house sleeping, that way its harder for the smoke to get at the guinea pig.

I am very cautious on this though, that's why I run multiple electronics to keep the air around the cage clean such as:

Air Purifier

Air Conditioner

A desk fan

Air Ioniser with a Carbon Filter

Now, all this might cost you a little but whats better, the health of your guinea pig or your pocket?

What noises do hamsters make?

Hamsters do not generally make noise, but sometimes they will react in extreme situations.

  • Screaming - when the hamster is in extreme pain or fear, for example if it's paw get's stuck. This will sound more like a squeak to humans, but will be an expression of great distress to hamsters.
  • Sneezing - often mistaken for general noise, hamster sneezes are tiny and usually harmless. They only sneeze when ill or when they have dust in their noses.
  • Snoring - it might sound strange, but I have had several hamsters who snore. It is very quiet and sounds just like them breathing heavily, but it is in fact snoring.

They don't make a lot a nosie, but they might make a squeek nosie sometimes.

Do Guinea Pigs watch TV?

From what I have heard, you shouldn't bring your piggy into the same room as the telly when it is on for too long. This is because when it is on, there is a very high pitched noise that you can only just about hear if you mute your telly, but guinea pigs can hear it much louder than we can. I believe this may hurt their ears?

My guinea pig fell and lost a tooth she seems fine and can eat grass and hay but is having trouble eating solid food will the tooth ever grow back and will my guinea pig die without it's tooth?

You need to give her crushed food. (put carrots, nuts, cucamber etc in the blender)
or you can put hamster food in water to make it soft.

oh babe dont wory he/her will be fine i dropped my guinea pig timone on the decking once and it grew back almost instantly, just make sure he has plenty of cucumber, danylions grass etc to keep him eating and then once the broken tooth is as long as the other he will start eating normal food again , just make sure he did not swallow the broken off tooth cus sometimes it can get lodged in the throat or stomach so make sure he/her has plenty of water to flush it out of its system .. xxxxx

By toering98, Yes the tooth will grow and probably in less than six months. And no your guinea pig won't die as long as it is eating and drinking something she will be just fine. Take extra good care of it though.

But i would check up on him/her like every 30 minutes to 40 minutes . Sorry i love my quinea pig nothing bad ever happended to her Bye thanks.

Do guinea pig give birth in the day or night?

Dogs are mammals and they give birth the same as all mammals. They have live natural births vaginally.

Length of Canine Gestation
  • The duration of a canine pregnancy usually lasts 63 days. However, it is not unusual for smaller breeds to deliver early and larger breeds to deliver later. If you know the time of conception, it should be easy to determine when your dog will deliver the pups. If you are not sure on the date of conception, a veterinarian can help you determine the date.

Prepping for Labor
  • It is advised to make up a whelping box for your dog a few weeks before she is due. The box should be low enough for the mother to get in and out of easily while still keeping the pups contained. It should also be large enough to fit her comfortably at her stretched out length. By making the box a few weeks ahead of delivery, this gives you time to get the mother comfortable with using the box. But be warned, dogs will not always have the puppies in the predetermined location. Sometimes they decide they are more comfortable in an unplanned location.

Signs of Labor
  • There are several signs to watch for to determine if the dog is preparing for labor. One way to determine this is by taking the rectal temperature. A dog will usually maintain a temperature of around 101 and 102 degrees. If the dog's temperature dips below 100 degrees, this is a sign that she will start the labor process in the next 24 hours. Other signs to watch for are restlessness, whining, lack of appetite, vomiting and nesting behavior. Also watch for a straw-colored discharge from the vagina that may signal a break in the placenta. This is when the dog's cervix begins to dilate and the contractions begin.

The Birth
  • When the contraction begin to get stronger, the mother dog will start to birth the puppies. She will usually be laying on her side in a fairly comfortable position with her head towards her back end. As the puppies begin to emerge, she will help pull them out using her mouth. She will break the amniotic sac that the puppy was in and lick it clean. Then she will chew off the umbilical cord that was attached to the puppy. This allows for bonding between the mother and the puppy. It usually takes about thirty minutes between the birth of each puppy.

The Aftermath
  • After the puppy has been cleaned it will usually start nursing immediately. Once all the puppies have been birthed, the mother's uterus will usually contract more to fully expel any placenta and fluid still remaining in the uterus. It is also normal for a dog who has just given birth to run a low-grade fever for a day or two.

What to Watch For
  • It is common for the mother dog to take long rests between each puppy. However, if it has been several hours since the birth of a puppy and it is believed that there are more puppies yet to be birthed, call a veterinarian. The veterinarian can advise on what to do or he may recommend bringing the dog in to the office. Also, if the mother does not rip the amniotic sac herself, you may need to do it yourself to save the puppy. Call your veterinarian if you are unsure of what to do.

What to Avoid
  • Remember that birthing puppies is a natural process for dogs. It is usually something that can be done without human interference. Allow nature to take its course and only intervene if there is obviously something wrong with the mother or the puppies.

Through the vagina like every other animal, including humans. And they come out in a silk-like bag and the unbilial cord. The dog has to bite those stuff.
By pushing with their womb muscles etc like all other animals. Some dogs might need assistance though.
Dogs have birth on their own when their about 3 to 5 months the some of the girls have puppies and you can tell. If you don't want them to have puppies by the first time you go to the vet with your dog they will take care of it.
well, all dogs have a mating seson so the male has to mate mith the female dog and after about a few months they have puppys but some times it does not work
If neather of your dogs are fixed the boy dog will hump the girl dog. Just let the boy dog hump her inless she is geting agressiv then take him off of her but if not tlet thme hum for lik 1-5 ,inutes after the five minutes is up take the boy dog off the girl dog. If the boy dog goes back and does it again just let him do that means she likes them and they are making puppies togher. It is just like haveing sex ect with dogs.

I was thinking of mating my two guinea pigs but i don't know how long i should wait because the female is quite young about 2 months When should i mate them?

It is best to wait until the female guinea pig is at least 4-6 months old before breeding to ensure she is fully mature and ready for pregnancy. Breeding too early can lead to health issues for the female and her offspring. Make sure both guinea pigs are healthy and the mating process is supervised by a veterinarian or experienced breeder.

Do guinea pigs dig holes in dirt?

Guinea pigs do not typically dig holes in dirt like other animals. They are more likely to burrow or tunnel in bedding material in their enclosure. Providing a soft and appropriate substrate for digging can help fulfill their natural instincts.

Do guinea pigs need sunlight?

They like to lay around in it in the wild so I bet it is OK as pets. But not too much sun. Especially if your guinea pig's fur is dark, like black. Dark haired animals absorb much more sunlight than light haired animals. Like humans, dark skinned people absorb more melanin.

What temperature should you keep the guinea pig cage at?

They should be kept above 50 degrees and below 100 degrees. They get cold like humans do and also can suffer if it is too hot. It's best if the room temperature for a guinea pig is between 69-78 degrees.

Female guinea pigs should be bred before 6 to 9 months of age so as to prevent what?

Female guinea pigs should be bred before 6 to 9 months of age to prevent complications such as pregnancy difficulties, birth defects, and potential health risks for the mother and offspring. Breeding younger than this age range can also lead to stunted growth and other developmental issues in the babies.

Can you use a towel as bedding in a guinea pig cage?

Yes you can use towels instead of beding for guieana pigs to be on because I have a guieana pig myself and he LOVES towels. Whats really great about using towels as bedding for your guieana pig is that you can take the towels out if your guieana pigs cage and reuse them again. Towels don't harm your guieana pig eather. Plus, their even more softer than bedding form a store! I know this because when I got my guieana pig, the owner said that its healther for your guieana pig because theres less dust to ruin your guieana pig's eyes.

If you change a guinea pig's cage every week and a half will it attract maggots?

No, I do not think so. It would have to be really, really dirty before it attracted anything. If housed in an appropriate sized cage, and if there is only one guinea pig, many guinea pigs can go two weeks without needing a cage cleaning. But this depends on the guinea pig. Some are very dirty and require alot more cleaning.

Princess-jen says:

Hi there. As i have a guinea pig myself i never leave a cage a week and a half. (mine is inside in a medium cage) i change newspaper and hay every two day etc... It would probably have to be very dirty as the other user has said. But i still wouldn't leave it for that long anyway because of infections guineapigs can pick up off the floor as they are low riders. Cheers have fun with your guineapig.
