Can Muslims eat guinea pig?

YES. Guinea pigs and capybara, although they both are referred to by the word "khanazir" (خنزير), in Arabic, meaning "pig" are rodents and there is no prohibition on eating them. (Specifically, the word for guinea pig is "khanazir ghiniya" - خنزير غينيا and the word for capybara is "khanazir al-maa2" - خنزير الماء or literally "pig of the water".) The word "pig" in the name has no bearing on whether it is permitted or forbidden.

Of course, since the guinea pig and capybara are New World animals, there are no early sources in Islam that discuss them, but they are usually compared by Faqihs (Islamic Jurists) to a common Arabian animal called a "webr" (وبر) -- usually translated as a rock hyrax -- due to the similar shape and size (even tough rock hyraxes are not taxonomically related to rodents like the guinea pig and capybara).

Islamic Jurist Ibn Qudamah al-Muqdisi explicitly permits consumption of the "webr" because of its similarity to rabbits and consumption purely of plant matter.

Guinea pigs are uasully not afraid of anything if you get them used to it. I do agree that yelling at them and loud noise or covering up there face is very scary for them but typically you can get a guinea pig used to very many things jus like a vacume cleaner my guinea pigs used to be terrified but now they do not mind if i give there room a quick little sweep, Guinea pigs are very sociable animals they are "pack" aniamls meaning they typically like to be with more than one guinea pig they often do get more scared without others being around them. Guinea pigs dont usaully like to be played with too much they just loved to be patted and pet daily but not hung upside down they do get scared often you must and i mean MUST get them used to there surroundings or they will get scared alott. good luck :)

What do you do if a spider bites your guinea pig?

Once my guinea pig, Fudge, accidentally bit me on my finger. I thought it was OK but then it started bleeding really badly. I cleaned it up and put some of that Dettol cream on it. Then I put a band-aid on it. the next day I took the band-aid off and it was REALLY swollen so I went to the doctor. I recommend you go to the doctor too because your guinea pig could have a disease or something and it might spread to you. I had to be on medication for two weeks and after that it really cleared up. Don't put a band-aid on it for too long otherwise the bite will not have air to heal it better.

Can a ginni-pig breed with a rat?

Do siblings guinea pigs eat each other?

In the wild, guinea pigs do kill other guinea pigs. The reason is usually because two males are arguing over a female. The males both want the female so they have a fight to the death. The winner (the one that is alive in the end) gets the female. This could happen in your home if you have males and females in the same cage. The chances of that are very, very small. Males also just fight for dominance. My two males often fight when i put them together, but when in separate cages they talk to each other and act as best friends. If you wish to put two males together, purchase them when they are both young and emidately join them in a single cage. You can also buy two males that were in the same cage at the place you purchased them from. So that sums up that guinea pigs do kill their own kind, but usually the males are the ones killing (and dont forget this is rare at your home and can be very easily be avoided).

Can a guinea pig live in a box?

In theory, a guinea pig can live weeks in a box with sufficient food and water, but in reality that would be neglecting it and you should only keep in in a cardboard for less than 24 hours. It needs to have exposure to light, air, and sufficient food and water.

And... don't forget they love to chew, so your pig is likely to escape a cardboard box, possibly within hours.

What fruit and vegetable are guinea pigs aloud to eat?

Guinea pigs are allowed to eat many vegetables but when it comes to fruit you really need to know what to give them. As a general rule, don't feed any nightshades (e.g. potatoes, tomatoes), nothing growing from bulbs (e.g. lilies, tulips). While this is not a safe rule to rely upon, it's a good rule-of-thumb.

With the exception of the above, Guinea Pigs normally know perfectly well what they can eat and what they like to eat. In fact, Guinea Pigs can be quite selective, with pronounced preferences and dislikes.

Fruit and vegetables like apples, cucumbers, grapes and peaches are not generally part of a natural Guinea Pig diet though, so these should be given in moderation only. Some Guinea Pigs will love some fruits and veg, mainly for their juiciness and sugar content. However, the softness and the high sugar content makes them unhealthy, possibly causing obesity, gum disease and overgrowth of teeth.

What to do when the mother guinea pig can not feed her young?

Umm, probably take it into your own hands and feed it that way. You could go down to your local vets or rescue centre and ask advice on what to do, they may give you a bottle mixture to feed the baby with. However, make sure the baby has contact with the mother for the future. You wouldn't want the mother to see the baby as an outsider as this could lead o future arguments and fights.
