I've kept and bred gerbils for nearly 40 years. They do not purr. The previous answer stated they have vibrations. Gerbils are prone to seizures and tremors although this genetic anomaly has mostly been bred out. It's helpful to think of yourself as a giant amusement park ride to a gerbil. When you go on one it upsets your sense of balance and you get really nervous and nauseous. Gerbils are small and sometimes being carried or handled has the same startling effect.

Guinea pigs can absolutely eat iceberg lettuce. If you happen to have extra iceberg on hand, go ahead and feed it to your guinea pig. If, however, you are looking for a tasty treat to buy for your guinea pig, romaine lettuce is packed full of vitamins (it has more vitamin C in it- which is a necessary dietary requirement for all guinea pigs).

There is not really a 'best' breed of guinea pig it really depends on what your looking for. Different breeds of guinea pigs don't affect the additude to much, but there can be slight changes such as long haired guineas pigs are not as athletic, and albino's don't like the sun.

My guinea pigs don't smell at all. And when I change their cage, I put a very light coating of Arm & Hammer Litter Box Deodorizer down right before I put in the bedding. It helps the cage stay very fresh smelling & the piggies seem to really love it! (They popcorn all over the place when we put them back into the cage after cleaning it!)

go to exoticcatz.com or similar website to make sure that is really something you are ready to commit to first. that said, the ocelot is considered by most to be the best exotic cat for a pet. as long as you dont allow them to breed, however, they will be VERY clingy and they live for ~20 years so make sure you are ready for that kind of commitment and good luck.

Guinea pigs that don't eat could indicate a problem with their teeth. A guinea pig's teeth constantly grow throughout their entire lives and if they do not have access to hard foods to nibble on their teeth will overgrow.

It is easy to check the front teeth (the incisors). A guinea pig with over grown teeth will need to be taken to a rodent friendly vet or rodentologist that can trim the teeth without using anesthetic. Guinea pigs have no nerve endings in their teeth so having them trimmed doesn't hurt them.

As an occasional treat, using yogurt drops meant for rabbits should be fine, however you must keep in mind, that guinea pigs require a different diet than rabbits, and you should if able, purchase drops for guinea pigs.

they are sore when u pat them you can also feel like scabs under their fur and it is very painful for then when you touch it. if you leave ticks untreated they will have fits and run around in a circle and their eyes dont focus if that happens you should see you vet asap. hope this helps
