I've seen mine sleep in a number of different positions from simply lowering themselves down to where their bellies were on the floor and their head was relaxed out in front of them to laying on their sides.

Usually if your guinea pig doesn't want to walk it is because there is something wrong with their legs (like muscle deterioration) or they are obese. If she appears overweight, I would suggest not giving them as much food as you usually do (cut her rations down slowly though, as major changes in diet can cause health issues), and put her for long periods of time in a run, where she has space to roam. If she isn't overweight however, do not decrease her food amount. Instead, it is probably because her food isn't high enough in Vitamin C, so she is getting the required food to keep her healthy. If she still doesn't want to walk, try putting your guinea pig in a tub where the water is WARM (cold water will make them uncomfortable and give them chills, which could in turn make her sick), and the level is taller than her head. Put her in but HOLD HER UP AT ALL TIMES. Guinea pigs can swim but if the water is too deep they might get tired easily and drown. Also since your guinea pig doesn't appear to want to even walk, they might not have much use of their legs, so again HOLD HER AT ALL TIMES. Once she touches the water, her instinct to swim will cause her to "dog paddle", so it is good excercie for her legs. **Caution: Even if it appears she can swim fine, never let go of her, it is not worth the risk, just hold her up and let her legs move. Make sure to towel dry her as soon as she is out of the water, DO NOT PUT HER BACK IN THE CAGE WHEN SHE IS STILL WET! Rub her down until she is dry, if you put her back in her cage still wet, they can get chills and get a cold. She will probably start walking a bit after that, but keep repeating this about twice a week until she finally starts to walk normally again. If she still doesn't walk, it could be a sign that she is pregnant (if you got her from a pet store aka Petco or Pet Supplies, she could have come pregnant. Sows don't walk as much when they are pregnant. If none of these things are possible and she looks healthy but just doesn't walk contact your vet and get her checked out.

My Guinea pig lays on his side and sticks one leg out. hes never done this before and now 2 years old? any ideas

I would think not guinea pigs can't eat leaves and I don't think that lavender would be an exception

try some of these

1.try putting some support on its feet so it feels safer

2.if it is shaking because it is cold try warming it up

3. there may be other animals around that may scare it so that mighty be why it is shaking

Well i have had 11 guinea pigs but not at the same time . They died at a good age . first you need to give it fresh water everyday and clean the bottle every week . next you need to handle it as much as possible . feed it everyday (dry food and fresh food )you can buy dry food in the pet shop and fresh food is just veg however don't give them lettuce.clean them out every week (its a smelly job)and fresh bedding every 2 days.

you can play with your giny pig but not ruth you will have to make sure its happy getting played with but mostly they will play there self if you have it in with a nuver one but do not put feamals in with a mail in less you want babys cos they will often breed and they can have up to 6 babys but 2 feamlsnwill be okay as long as its not to mails cos they will fight and not be happy together

Many websites and guinea pig books recommend only offering about 20% of their food dish to treats and other sweet foods. If you feel the amount of apple you are giving her surpasses 20% of her hay pellets, then that is too much! Try giving her things like cucumbers, peppers, nuts, and other things like lettuce--if you want her to have a variety of natural foods. When my guinea pig has her baby it was around 2:00am in the morning, so when I woke up I saw him, and they come out all fluffy, and everything, and when I saw him his eyes were open, and I woke up at 6:00am, I know its early but I had places to go....So I'm guessing that it takes them.....maybe a few minutes really, because when I saw him he was HYPER wide awake jumping all around, so im pretty sure they come out with their eyes open, if thats not what you expierianced, I'd talk to a vet........Hope that helped.....

It depends! If you have two female pigs around the same age then yes but if they were not bought together take it slow! An arrangement like this may not work if one female pig is over 1 or 2 years old and the other is under 1 and is not fully grown. Naturally the older pig will bully the younger pig and may get territorial!

Kinda. Like some of the younger friskier ones will run around, but all 3 guinea pigs I have none play with toys. They are pretty much all lazy they are the perfect cuddling animals.Ssometimes I sleep with mine - I'll take naps with them.

It's different for every animal, but typically, babies do wean themselves. I have animals and though most wean themselves, sometimes you have to separate the baby from the mother for a period of time and then you can put the baby back in. At least it's easy to do that with guinea pigs...

not really genarally they just knaw on the twigs to keep there teeth down.Try to remove all big bits of wood because it can rip there cheeks or try to get another type of bedding :)

You check for testes. But that is not foolproof, since sometimes they don't descend until they have been virile for a while, and thus, you might have a surprise pregnancy of another hamster thinking the one is a girl. Also, if you catch them mating, you will see which one is on top, and if you pull him off, you will see his penis.

They drink a lot of water, they get urinary tract infections (you recognize those by bloody urine, squeaking while peeing), sometimes they get eye cataracts. The only way to tell for sure is to take the guinea pig to an exotics vet (not the regular one) and have a blood test done.

Yes you can over feed your pig. Too much pellets or foods that contain sugar will cause health problems over time. AnswerYes its possible for you to over feed your guinea pig so watch on how much food you give you guinea pig. AnswerWell, yes and no. I suppose you could overfeed it, but in the same way, you can't. If you give some guinea pigs too much food, they will take what they need and leave the rest alone. On the other hand, some guinea pigs will eat everything in sight, so be careful.
