Guinea Pigs

All of my guinea pigs have absolutely loved carrots but I had to avoid using those prepackaged "baby carrots". They seemed to prefer just a few slices of a full size carrot versus the baby carrots.

A guinea pig needs enough space to be able to roam around with plenty of room in his/her cage. Also make sure to have extra room if you have or are planning on getting another guinea pig.

If you mean how many offspring they have on average, they can have anywhere from 2-6, although there is apossibility of as many as 8, or as little as 1. The most average we've seen is 3, although recently I've been getting alot of litters of 4 or 5.

Male mice do not usually die after mating, no. Your mouse may have been sick with something, and just happened to die after mating. Or, if he was really old, the exertion might have been too much for him. But I've never heard of that happening. It was probably just bad luck. Most male mice go along just fine after mating. In fact, they love it and can't wait to do it again.

i saw a video that a certain kind of mouse does die after having mated for 24 hrs so yes it is possible i looked all over the net for it but could not find it i saw it in high school in bio class

Yes. They are so lovable! But do not cuddle them near your face, or cuddle them too much. Over handling can cause stress. They are cute little cuddle bugs and can sit on your lap for hours. Hope this helped!

Guinea's mostly die because of the HABITAT they live in and the amount of space they have and possibly the atmosphere, Guinea's need alot of space because in order for them to be able to breath well, the fumes have to be wide and for that to happen, they would need lots of space and air ;)

Female guinea's shouldn't be allowed to have litters after the age of around 8-10 months. Their hip bones can fuse after this age, and cause a condition called 'Dystocia'. This is when the hip bones do not part for delivery, and can cause severe problems for the mother-pig. In the wild, guinea's would be pregnant from a very young age, and would then continue to have babies into old age.

Take it to your local animal shelter or Guinea pig rescue. I suggest a guinea pig rescue as it will have a better chance of finding a new home.

or you could try selling your guinea pig :)

My guinea pig is a male and according to my book on guinea pigs males have a scent gland just above on their hind quarters you can see a sort of spot or mark (if your guineapig is short haired) and that is the gland (really grossly sticky so don't touch it). Basically he is marking his territory in case you were to introduce a new male to him he could show the new male who's boss!

usually when a guinea pig dies its eyes are open, but if it died sleeping then its eyes should be closed.

guinea pigs are prone to eye problems, so if there is a cloudy blueish-grey spot in there eye, they are simply going blind in that eye. It might spread to the other eye, or it might just be in that one eye. If it is only a spot, and there is no discharge, they need no medical attention. You might want to take them in if the eye starts bleeding, or if if any discharge occurs.

My two guinea pigs love weetabix with a wee bit or milk for there calcium :)

a purring sound called "rumblestrutting" as they circle and purr around females. they tend to "chatter" with their teeth as a sign of annoyance or aggression around other males. both genders "weet" when upset, afraid, hungry, or wanting other attention.

Generally yes, as in most species females are more petite, however I have known some female guinea pigs that are larger in size.

This normally is a sign of a teribble disease called scurvy. Its hard to reverse but tje best tjing ypu can do it try to get it a lot of vitamin C and if you have other guinea pigs give them plenty of vitamin C as well.
