Why are bass guitars so expensive?
You get what you pay for.
A good bass guitar has some pretty sophisticated electronics in it as well as finely machined hardware. Additionally there is a lot of woodwork involved, and in order to produce a quality product, you have to start with quality material which is also not expensive.
However, that being said, bass guitars and guitars in general have actually gotten quite a bit cheaper in the last 10 years or so. Advances in production techniques have allowed the cheaper makers to make a much higher quality product than they used to. For less than $300 you can usually find a very serviceable and playable bass.
That's not to say that the $1000 American made basses don't still have their advantages... but a 2009 cheapy is usually a much better quality instrument than its 1999 (or 1989) equivalent would have been.
Its worth jack squat dude. There's lots of guitars out there, and yours in not unique. You might find a chump to pay $150.00 for it but that's kinda greedy cause you can get a totally new Gemini III for that. Plus the Gem 3 is better than the Gem 2, in my opinion. I don't know why people think their old junk is supposed to go up in value. Wouldn't you rather have a new guitar instead of someone's old one? I mean come on. Okay okay maybe it's worth like $50,000.00.

What is better a B.C Rich Warlock guitar or B.C. Rich Virgo guitar?
Go to a shop that sells both. Play both, one at a time, and through the same amp. The one you like better is the better guitar for you. A Virgo is more of a sit and play. The Warlock is slightly awkward to sit with because of all the angles.

What is sound and How is sound produced?
Sound is a physical entity, unlike noise which is the perception of sound. Sound is an high pressure wave front through a medium (such as air, or a liquid such as water, or a solid), wherein the wave front is followed by a reciprocal pressure differential behind it. Sound is produced when something disturbs the medium and sets in motion the molecules in the medium. Frequently, (no pun intended) the wave front/reciprocal entity occurs as an oscillating wave, wherein there are a series of wave fronts (peaks in pressure), followed by wave valleys (lower pressure). The relative height of the peak translates to how much energy is in the wave (how great is the pressure), and the closeness of peak to peak (spatially and temporally) indicates the pitch. Noise, is not a physical entity, but is the mental perception of the physiological response to sound. A wave front is converted from mechanical energy in our ear into an electrical impulse in the brain that analyzes the wave information. The interpretation of the wave front is subjective and the brain may interpret the wave signature as speech, music, clapping, gunshot, hum, etc.

Are e strings on and electric guitar the same as on an acustic?
It all depends on what type of acoustic guitar it is, if its a classical then its nylon strung, steel strung acoustics can use the same strings as an electric. Some people prefer "bronze" strings for their acoustic.
May 2013
As a side note, It is important to understand strings and acoustic/classical guitars.
Classical or palor guitars are best suited using nylon strings since most do not have truss rods in the neck. Therefore keeps the string tension less and not an aid in warping the neck. DO NOT put steel strings on a Classical guitar! Nylon strings also create a warmer more inviting sound for the style of music played.
A classical guitar has a slotted headstock not solid and tuning keys are in a downward position.
Bronze Phospher strings are best suited for a standard acoustic guitar which Notably has a solid headstock with horizontal tuning keys. These guitars generally have an adjustable truss rod in the neck and aid in support of the string tension pull. Bronze strings allow a less pull on the neck while allowing ease of tuning and a somewhat brighter sound that nylon and warmer than steel. Steel strings can be used on a standard acoustic, but I don't recommended using them.
There are many style and gauge strings available for all guitars, when in doubt go to your local music store and ask for help, its free, with the purchase of a set of strings.
yes, but dean guitars are only for if you play hard rock or metal music. There basses aren't half bad either.

Can you play a semi acoustic guitar without amp or without being plugged in?

What is the origin of the electric guitar?
Hi,
I bought a St. George bass guitar in Duarte,California in late 1963 or early 1964.
I still have it!!!
Apparently, these guitars were made in Japan. They were cheap to buy, but the quality was pretty good and they had a long, slim neck and very easy to play.Mine is a 6 string bass and has 3 pick ups, 1 volume control and 1 tone control. The strings were only spaced about 1/4 inch apart
I have painted it twice, but originally it had a sunburst finish and a light natural wood colored neck.
I always had to keep it in a soft bag, because I couldn't find a hard case long enough for it to fit into.It is about 5 inches longer than most basses are.
They sound quailty was very good.
Apparently, they are not worth much these days (2007) but I wouldn't want to sell it any way .I think I only paid less than $100.00 for it.

Not all St. George guitars were Japanese-made. Some were made by Bartell in Riverside, Ca and are very well-crafted instruments. Typically they did use Japanese vibrato systems and bridges but all the other parts are quality.

Is it ok to play with no pick when playing guitar?
No If you like, use one. But, some of the prettiest melodies come out of finger picking. An arpeggio done without a pick is totally different than one done with. Listen to some flaminco guitar playing, and tell us what you think!

What does the Bass Guitar look like?
The bass guitar looks like an ordinary electric guitar except it has a longer neck and only four strings (5 or 6 string versions are available). The bass has only 20 frets but the neck is longer as the frets are each longer than that of the electric guitar. It is possible to get a fretless bass guitar aswell which allows for a smoother tone and sounds alot better in jazz style music.
A Double Bass looks like a Cello only alot bigger. Generally played standing up from behind the instrument, it is far less common than the electric bass but, unfortunately, far more expensive.
