How do concert halls have good acoustics?

Good acoustics involves careful design of the auditorium, with attention to proper sound reflection and absorbing characteristics at various points in the hall. In a hall with good acoustics, a properly trained person without a microphone can make himself heard and understood throughout the hall.

Because getting good acoustics is as much an art as a science in architectural design, sometimes getting good acoustics is more a matter of luck, especially in the older halls.

To off-set poor acoustics, or failure to attempt any sort of acoustical design in newer halls, heavy use of amplification and microphones is used. Sometimes it helps, but it is not usually a complete substitute for a hall with good acoustics.

Can you connect a mic to a bass amp?

I love my SM-57. Its got a huge range and is totally the best universal mic that can get anything from an amp to a snare to vocals. Unless you really need high end gear for really serious recording, I'd go with a versitile mic. I imagine though if you're asking on here, you are not doing something so serious to drop a few grand on a ultra high end (low end :) ) mic.

What makes a dreadnought acoustic guitar different from other acoustic guitars?

Grand Auditorium body style has the width and depth of a dreadnought.

Its narrower waist gives it the appearance of a smaller instrument, adds treble "zing" across the guitar's tonal spectrum.

The waist sharpens the definition of individual notes, and also enables it to rest comfortably in the lap.

With less mass from the width of the braces, the guitar top moves faster, resulting in a snappy, bell-like tone.

When did heavy metal start?

The first true, undisputed heavy-metal record was Black Sabbath's 1970 debut album, with its first track "Black Sabbath" the first undisputed heavy-metal song.

Many acts before this can claim to be psychedelic, heavy rock, heavy blues, hard rock or even proto-punk -- such as Iron Butterfly, the MC5, Led Zeppelin, Steppenwolf, The Stooges, even Jimi Hendrix. But no one denies that the first two Black Sabbath records were heavy metal, and that Black Sabbath was a heavy-metal band.

Does using the whammy bar on a guitar mess up the strings?

Use of a whammy bar will not damage a guitar. A Floyd Rose however does have the possibility of snapping a string because you can pull the strings tighter, maybe a Bigsby as well. Unless you're pulling up on a standard trem that hasn't been set up properly, a whammy bar won't damage the guitar.

What is a guitar tab?

Tablature is a way of reading music on guitars e.g. Top E ------------0 (0 = the open string so 1 would be the first fret) B------------------0----------- G-------------------------0---------------- D---------------------------------0------------------- A------------------------------------------0---------------------- Bottom E---------------------------------------------------0----------------------- this is in an order so you would play the top E first then B then G and so on and so forth. Also go onto www.ultimateguitar.com for more of this stuff hope this helps

What acoustic guitar strings professional use?

Unless they're endorsed it usually says. I like Dean Markley ones, but as long as they last and stay in tune you can be using the cheapest and it won't make much difference after the first week or so sound wise.

Answer

Soloist/bands use whatever they are paid to use. Session musicians tend to be more selective; they chase their signature sound. And strings that sound good on one setup could sound flat and dull on another; good on an ibi, sad on a tele. Time and choice will find the best for you.

Can you tune a guitar if your tone deaf?

If one is truly tone deaf, they are unable to distinguish between musical notes and this cannot be learned. The analogy would be like someone being color blind, they cannot be taught to see the right colors.

People who have difficulty with this often simply lack musical training, and that can be taught. The analogy would be people who don't know what color magenta is (and think it's just pink) because they don't really know about colors, but could be taught the names of the colors (and have no problems seeing them).

Should bass guitar strings be tight?

Bass guitar strings should be tightened to the point where they are in tune. This generally doesnt require an incredibly tight wind, but there definitely will be a certain amount of tension when properly tuned.

What are easy love songs to learn on guitar?

You probably don't know this song, but it's called "The Messenger" by Linkin Park. I know what you're thinking; Linkin Park is way to heavy to have a love song, but this is very soft. You should listen to it.

The basic chords are: G, Em, D, C

But if you want to get it exactly right, it's G, E7, D, C4

If not, try "Here Comes the Sun" by The Beatles. I can't recall the chords right now, but look it up; it's pretty easy.

Wonderwall is also a popular choice.
