A claw hammer is used mainly for hammering in large nails in construction work. It's claw is for straightening or pulling nails out.

For getting off nuts that people don't have the real wrench for. Many north Americans still can't get used to having metric sizes and i can count on one hand my friends who have, for instance, a 13 mm wrench !

The squares are that size because most studs are set at 16 or 24 inches apart in building framing.

Sometimes the cut they make can be a bit 'jagged' and requires filing or sanding. Sometimes they may also not fit into where you are using them. This is where the small pointed ones come in handy.

I would use a 13 mm wrench. If you don't have one you should get one ! This and 10mm are the two most common metric sizes in bolts etc. -For now you can also use a 17/32 wrench or a crescent wrench.

If you want it to grip, drill a 9/64 hole. For a clearance hole, drill 7/32.

These little guys do the same thing as full size screwdrivers, without losing large amounts of storage in your tool bag or box. The only draw back is they usually don't come in shock proof or impact ready styles.

They have rubber tools so it's easier to grip them. This is when it's a hot day, you've been working on something all day, and when your handling a chisel you don't want it to slip on your sweaty hands and take your finger off.

Yes, a torque wrench is a precision instrument (or tool). -If damaged or even slightly bent it may give incorrect readings. It should always be kept in a separate case or box, nut just flung in a toolbox with over heavy tools (as I sometimes see)
