What is a better picture LCD or LED?
The term LED is ambiguous when it comes to television.
At the time of writing, in early 2013, LED generally refers to an LCD television with LEDs as the back lighting instead of cold cathode fluorescent tubes. They offer a more energy efficient lighting solution but in both cases, the image is generated by the LCD panel that controls the passing of light to generate the image.
Some people prefer the image from LED lit televisions but it is a subjective view.
However, true LED televisions have made an entry to the market and will become more common in the coming years. They are frequently known as OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode). In these models, every pixel has a red, green and blue LED. To build the image, each set of LEDs are varied in brightness and it is the LEDs themselves that create the picture rather than a second layer as in the LCD type. These televisions have the capability of displaying higher contrast rations and even lower energy consumption. This is a departure from LCD technology and the images are likely to be noticeably different to LCD types.
How do you hook up a Blu-ray to an LG HDTV?
Type your answer here... It should be nothing more than hooking up the HDMI cable from the HD tv to the DVD player. This cable delivers the video and the audio simultaneously. If it is an older DVD player like mine, I hooked up the video using a component cable which has three connections on each end - red, blue, yellow then connect the audio using phono plugs. This cable has one red connection and one white. On the back of the DVD player there is an audio/out, the red goes on the left connection and the white goes to the right. The other end of that connects to the audio/in on the tv.Some cables such as Monster cable have a directional arrow on them.I don't think it matters.Monstercable seems to think it does.I hope this helped.

Blu-ray Disc (also known as BD or Blu-ray) is an optical disc storage medium designed to supersede the standard DVD format.
Its main uses are for storing high-definition video, PlayStation 3 video games, and other data, with up to 25 GB per single layered, and 50 GB per dual layered disc. Although these numbers represent the standard storage for Blu-Ray drives, the specification is open-ended, with the upper theoretical storage limit left unclear.
200 GB discs are available, and 100 GB discs are readable without extra equipment or modified firmware.
The disc has the same physical dimensions as standard DVDs and CDs.
The name Blu-ray Disc derives from the blue-violet laser used to read the disc. While a standard DVD uses a 650 nanometer red laser, Blu-ray uses a shorter wavelength, a 405 nm blue-violet laser, and allows for almost ten times more data storage than a DVD.
Can I get TV channels with a TV antenna?
Any station that is close enough to your antenna and the TV has the proper tuner for the available stations. Pointing to the correct direction for the transmitting towers and then rescanning the TV is very important.
Will a HDMI up convert DVD player play blu-ray disks as well?
DVD players cannot play Bluray discs. The lasers and the data storage are different so no data can be read from a Bluray disc in a DVD drive. That is the case whether or not there is any up-scaling available in the player.
Bluray players on the other hand are quite happy to play DVDs as well as Bluray discs.

Where can someone buy a HD monitor?
High definition or HD monitors can be bought in many places. A computer store would be a great place to find one for sale. An electronic store would also be a good place to find a monitor for sale.
Anything can freeze, but there are usually recommended temperature ranges on the TV or in the directions for the TV. Other temperatures (hot or cold) will affect the picture and future performance.
What are DVD players used for?
They are used for watching movies and videos. Esp. since the video tapes are almost obsolete now.
What is the difference between SD and HD video?
High definition television uses far more data to create images than standard definition. It's about 5 times the amount of data in fact. The higher data rate allows the image to be generated with more pixels to produce a crisper image.
In North America, standard definition has always been broadcast with a 4:3 aspect ratio. In Europe, 16:9 aspect ratios were introduced in the early 1990s so the majority of European content has been created in wide screen format for a number of years.
HD television is always 16:9 and there is no standard for 4:3 ratio when using HD.
The standard definition resolutions are as follows:
NTSC (North America) is 640 x 480 pixels with a 4:3 aspect ratio
PAL (Europe) is 720 x 576 with either a 4:3 aspect ratio or 16:9 aspect ratio
High definition signals are:
1280 x 720 pixels with a 16:9 aspect ratio
1920 x 1080 pixels, also using 16 : 9 aspect ratio.

How can you get HDTV over the air broadcast on a HDTV monitor with a standard TV antenna?
Yes, you can use the old antenna. However, some new antennas are specially designed to better capture digital TV signals. And the direction, angle, distance, and type of digital signals in your area could influence your choice of antenna. HDTV is a picture format, not a signal format. Most likely a TV with an HDTV picture format already has a digital tuner (ATSC) rather than only an analog tuner (NTSC). However, if it is just a monitor, then you may have to attach a tuner to it, or attach a tuner to your computer, and the computer to the monitor.
Actually, there is no such thing as an "HDTV" tuner. There are analog and digital tuners. All HDTV is digital, but not all digital is going to be HDTV. In Feb 2009 the U.S. Government has mandated that all broadcasters will cease transmitting in analog format and begin transmitting their signals over the air in digital format only. This signal requires an ATSC type tuner (digital) to demodulate the digital signal and display it on your television screen. All TVs manufactured for use in the U.S. from 1 Jan 2006 must have an ATSC tuner. Older TVs with the older style NTSC tuner (analog) will require a converter box to demodulate the digital signals.

What is the maximum resolution of a plasma TV?
For broadcast signals there are two formats. 1920 x 1080 is one and 1280 x 720 is the other. Although the 1080 line image has more pixels, the 720 line signal updates the image at twice the rate of the 1080 image so the amount of data used for each is the same. They formats are commonly referred to as 1080i and 720p.
The i stands for interlaced meaning that the image is updated in two passes of the screen, odd number lines first and then the even numbered lines on the next pass. The p stands for progressive meaning that the image is updated fully in a single pass, hence 720p is updated at twice the rate of 1080i
Local sources such as Bluray and games consoles can output 1080p as well as other HD formats. The image is refreshed twice as fast as 1080i but the resolution of the image is identical.
Can you play regular DVD disc on a Blu-ray player?
Yes they most certainly do! (At least most commercial Blu-Ray players have no difficulty playing commercial DVD material)
However, if you have burned your own files onto a DVD then you may not be able to play the files on a given Blu-ray player depending on file format, codecs etc.

Which is a better TV DLP or LED?

Who makes Sony LCD televisions?
Sony may make their own since they're one of the few manufacturers that are inclined to do so, but that doesn't necessary mean that Sony does. Many manufacturers will use displays from several different manufacturers to keep up the demands for supply.
Whatever you do, be sure to check the TV out BEFORE you take it from the store. Why? Because each manufacturer will allow a "certain percentage" of bad pixels in their display and won't cover it under factory OR extended warranty. Problem is, once you find one in your display, you'll be drawn to it each time you watch your TV and it'll become an irritation, reducing your viewing pleasure.
The other thing you should get is an extended warranty. The repair parts could cost half as much (or more!) as what you paid for your TV in the first place, plus the cost of the service call for someone to come out and look at it.
With an extended warranty, if the display goes out, it should be covered under the repair contract, so whomever makes the display really shouldn't be an issue. If not, find a seller that does.
EXRENDED WARRENTY IS A JOKE FOR SONY-$500.00. Their PANELS ARE MADE IN CHINA AND MALAYSIA. Min quantity for import=5=about $2500

What is the difference between PAL NTSC?
NTSC was an older analog standard. The new standard is ATSC.
HDTV's have the ability to display a broadcast resolution of 1080i/720p which can be achieved using the ATSC tuner that is built into most HDTV's. SDTV was the old standard displaying a broadcast resolution of upto 480i.
How do you choose between a plasma TV and an LCD TV?
1 answer. if u have voltage fluctuation in ur area don't use plasma as the small pixles each haveseperate connection to voltage can destory ur TV otherwise u can use plasma as its reception is better than LCD but choose plasma wich have view angle about 179 degree available in market
2 answer. lcd has much less power consumption then plasma.even if plasma has better picture it will loose brightness faster then lcd. some plasma models are more susceptible to " burn in " still images. i like lcd better.p.s I'm an electronic tech.
3 answer.
As of January, 2009, the "Better Purchase" value wise depends on size. A 42", 50", or 55" Plasma will still cost less than the same sized LCD of comparable picture quality. Plasmas under 42" are rare, and over 50" are still expensive based on the units produced.
As far as power consumption, there's actually not a huge difference when comparing apples to apples. A bright, good quality 42" LCD will use roughly the same power as a 42" plasma, but the plasma will fluctuate power levels based on the picture content. If it's a black image, it will use less power than an LCD, if it's a white image, it will use more.
"Burn-In" is somewhat of an issue for Plasma TVs, typically though, burn-in is only an issue if you plan to leave the same image on the screen for extended periods of time such as using it for a computer monitor, or an information display. TV station logos, and most new game systems have been designed to be not harmful. In addition, most new Plasmas have a featre that discreetly shifts the image to prevent burn-in.
Most new plasmas are built to perform for many years. For exaple, a Plasma rated for 60,000 hours means that after 27 years of watching TV 6 hours a day, the TV will be about half as bright as when it was new. (not dead, just half as bright) It's the same basic technology used in "Tube" televisions - Phosphors are "painted" on the surface of the glass, and ignited using electricity. Only in a much more precise, and compact manner.
The "Better Purchase" question would have to be answered by aswering key questions such as:
There are many widely debated pros & cons for both Plasma & LCD. And many different reasons for purchasing one over the other. The best advice for someone looking to purchase a lage "Flat Panel" is to speak to a qualified, preferably trained professional, ideally at a custom home theater store (I have found that most big box store salespeople are barely more informed than the average consumer, and tend to offer opinion, or rumor as factual information - I was once told that I needed to purchase the Extended warranty because it covered "Recharging the Plasma" which needed to be done every six months).
