Can all hair types get head lice?

Yes, anyone and everyone can get lice no matter what economical class you are in. Not many African Americans get lice because of their hair type.

Can toothpaste kill lice?

No! No matter what you do your going to have to comb through your hair. Even if you buy the medicated stuff from walmart, it doesn't kill the eggs, so you'll just have lice again if you don't comb them out. That's why most medication says to use once and then again in a week or two to kill any newly hatched eggs.

Are there bombs for head lice for your home?

Hell no. The chemicals in spray pesticide are too strong for human use and not healthy.

Can head lice live in hot temperatures?

Only if your head freezes, too. The best treatment for head lice:

1. Buy a commercial shampoo designed especially for that purpose. That's not so hard. There are several brands available at Walgreens and CVS. A double treatment runs around $15 - $25. Don't go with the cheapest one and don't be stingy in the application.

2. Apply the shampoo - as directed - to EVERYONE in the household.

3. COMB the hair (on every head) with a FINE toothed comb, under a bright light and magnifying glass. (really. Do this or the little critters will get away from you). As you comb, frequently dip the comb into a glass of alcohol and swish it around to clean it.

4. RINSE, RINSE, RINSE the hair.

5. Go back to the bright light and magnifier and check for any lice or nits that you might have missed. DO NOT GIVE UP until you are SURE the hair is clean.

Recent articles have said that it is not necessary to do the whole house extermination and throw away the bed clothes and couch, etc. They are called HEAD lice for a reason. Having just dealt with a severe infestation in a home where I did charity visits, I tend to agree with that. IF you get all the lice AND nits out of the hair and kill them in the alcohol, then immediately wash clothing that you and the lice carrier are wearing you should be just fine. Good Luck!

Why do lice like living in people's hair?

Lice like to live there because they get everything they need. Food, shelter and a place to have their kids. They crawl around the scalp and bite it to feed off the blood. This is why we feel the itch and they lay their eggs on our hair. Sometimes it is hard to see them there because of the amount of hair we have.

Can a bump on the head kill you?

not unless it is a hard bump on the head or you have some kind of disease. It all depends. Like a very hard bump on the head of a 75 year old who has heart failure. It will probably kill them. Another Answer It would depend on three things: one is where the person was hit (a person can be killed by being hit really hard on the temple) two would be how hard the person was hit (a feather isn't going to kill you) and three would be how strong the bones are. If the object is, persay, a soda, a thick-headed person wouldn't be harmed. But if the person has untreated osteoporosis, and their skull is a lot weaker, it may kill them. If a person you know has been hit on the head really hard, you wouldn't have enough time to log onto this website, but if you're planning ahead, then don't take chances! If they seem drowsy, dizzy, unable to think clearly, or if they're unconcious, take them to the emergency room right then. It does depend upon how hard of a bump, but even a relatively small one can cause internal bleeding into the brain that can lead to death. We lost a father of two when he hit his head on the sidewalk last month. He didn't think he was hurt, but died a few days later. YES The truth is that any bump on your body can kill you.But than again,a large scratch on the leg is also lethal if left unthreated. The human body is'nt designed to fix most of it's problems alone.A bump could be a harmless tumor that becomes cancerous in a couple of months, but if you had hit your head somewhere you should see a doctor NOW because it can cause internal bleeding and you will die.

What happens if you dont get rid of lice?

The most important thing is to have a confirmed diagnosis. If head lice are suspected, contact a health care provider (physician, pharmacist, nurse, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, school nurse, etc) and have them confirm an ACTIVE infestation.

A lot of people are treated for misdiagnosed head lice.

Then, ask for their recommendation for a treatment from a health care provider. They can tell you if it's appropriate for the severity of your infestation, your age, your medical history, etc.

There are many treatments ranging from home remedies to prescriptions. All have positives and negatives. Be aware that no home remedy is scientifically proven to work. Many over the counter products also do not have clinical studies as most are not FDA approved product. Any product that is FDA approved must go through several stages of clinical trials and approval before being available (most by prescription only).

It is critical, once you have a treatment, to follow the directions exactly as stated by the manufacturer. Most products do not have the ability to kill nits (eggs), so additional treatment(s) will be necessary to kill them once they hatch.

If you have lice, your family will too. Everybody will have to use the over the counter lice shampoo and lice comb to kill the lice and then comb them out. You can find it at places like Wal-mart or Rite-aid or Walgrens, etc. Then all the bedding needs to be washed in hot soapy water. And use a dryer if you have one or go the the laundry mat to use one there. The warm air of the dryer is an important part of getting rid of the lice from bedding.
