Why do helicopters make noise?

The source of the noise made by Helicopters are created by several things. The engines can make noise just like any airplane. The transmissions can make a high frequency noise. The destinctive sound of helicopters is the "whop-whop-whop" it makes. This is caused by the rotor blades as it rotates.

One reason for this sound is one blade passes and creates a vortex(or whirling tunnel of air) and then the next blade slaps this vortex.

Another reason is that each blade must change pitch angle as it rotates around the central mast. When the blade is on one side of the helicopter, it has a high pitch and creates a high lift and therefore a large turbulent vortex. Then as it rotates to the other side of the helicopter, the blade must decrease its pitch angle, sometimes to almost zero angle. This rapid change in high blade angle and low angle causes this blade sounds.

How do helicopter seeds travel?

Seeds from Maple trees grow in the shape of a wing and can "fly" when it falls from the tree and the winds can take it long distances.

The seed grows with the seed at one end and a thing, leafy wing that grows to one side. When it dries, it becomes very light and stiff. The seed will drop off the tree and as it falls, the "wing" catches the air passing over it and causes it to spin. The spinning gets faster and will hold the seed in the air. If a breeze catches it, the seed can fly sideways and up higher.

Real Helicopters use this same principal. When a real helicopter turns off its engine(or the engine quites), the helicopter begins go descend. If the pilot sets the rotor blades at the right angle, then as the up flow of air passes over the rotor blades, the blades will turn due to the air flow. This is called "auto-rotation".

Is an FAA helicopter license all you need to fly a gyrocopter and a Tiltrotor?

No, you need an actual gyro plane license. However, if you already posses a helicopter license, the gyrocopter license is considered an add-on, since they are both in the same category, being rotorcraft. This implies you will not be required to do another written exam. Of course you will need ground instruction, as well as flight time in the gyro before your actual checkride.

How much can you charge to land a helicopter?

The cost to land a helicopter can vary significantly based on several factors, including location, duration of the landing, and specific landing rights or fees imposed by the landing site. Typically, charges can range from $100 to several thousand dollars. For example, urban areas or private helipads may have higher fees due to demand and regulations. It's essential to check with the specific landing facility for their rates and policies.

What does wing length have to do with helicopter flight?

Wing length doesn't directly affect helicopter flight because helicopters use rotor blades to generate lift, not wings. The length of rotor blades on a helicopter can impact its performance by affecting lift, control, and stability. In general, longer rotor blades can provide more lift and stability, but may also require more power to rotate.

How many wings does a helicopter have?

Helicopters do not have any wings. Airplanes have wings Helicopter has rotors. A helicopter has at least two sets of rotors. One rotor creates lift ( Main Rotor on the top ) & the other prevents the helicopter from spinning in circles( Tail Rotor).

How do you get a webkinz rare hot tub by aoife?

Hey there! I got my hot tub by adopting a pet. Its not a special pet item, though. It was one of those bonus gifts. Anyway I could get a hot tub?" He whispered to me that Arte has been ordering RARE HOT TUBS for the Curio Shop. !

Who invented the sea king helicopter?

You can't really invent the same thing several times. The Sea King helicopter isn't rated as an invention, as it's not really doing anything hugely new. It was developed by a team of engineers from a company called Sikorsky.
