Henry Hudson discovered the Hudson river, (Originally nammed the Mauritius River after Prince Maurice of Nassau) in 1609 while he was hired by the English Muscovy Company to take a ship (the Hopewell) to find a Northeastern sea passage to the Spice Islands of the South Pacific.

Henry Hudson sailed for the Dutch. He discovered the Hudson River where New York is. He also discovered Hudson Bay in Canada.

Henry Hudson sailed to North America in search of the Northwest passage. However, he did not find it. He got lost in what we now know as Hudsons bay. It is one of the largest bays in the world located north of ontario and lends its name to the famous trading company, the Hudson's Bay Company. This voyage ultimately ended poorly for Hudson as his crew staged a mutiny and marooned him in a little boat. He died within the bay.

No. He was mostly sent out to discover a northerly sea route to the Far East. He failed, for the simple reason that there wasn't one. He got stuck in icefields twice, once trying to sail north of Scandinavia and Siberia, and once trying to sail north of Canada. In his search for a more southern passage in northern America he explored and mapped much of the coast of today's Canadian and US eastern coast, but did not establish any colonies or trade agreements there.

Finally, he sailed into what is now known as the Hudson Bay. Local tribes had told him there would be another ocean at the other side but they mistook the Great Lakes for the ocean. Winter conditions however forced him to a miserable wintering there. When he wanted to press on in the spring, his crew mutinied and set him adrift in a sloop. Nothing was heard of him again.

Henry Hudson did sail under the British flag. In 1607 and 1608 he sailed for the British flag. In 1609 he sailed for the Dutch flag. His final voyages were in 1610 and 1611 when he sailed for the British flag again.

Henry Hudson wanted to go to Asia for trading purposes but, ended up going to America and Canada. He founded two water lands (Hudson River and Hudson Bay). He even died in one of the water lands that he had founded!
