How can you rid your garden of mint?
If it is mixed in with other plants you don't want to kill, Roundup makes a foam you can spray on the leaves of the mint, it will be absorbed down into the roots, and kill just that plant. If you want to kill mass quantities, spray with either Roundup, a cheap glyphosate substitute for Roundup (everyone makes one), or 2,4-D. This kills it to the roots, and it won't come back. Remove the plants after the tops turn yellow and die back (after the chemical has been taken up), usually a week to 10 days or so, depending on the weather (it affects how quickly the chemical is absorbed). You might want to contain mint better the first time, which is to restrict its growth by planting it literally in a large black plastic nursery pot, say a 15-gallon size, sunken into the ground in your herb garden, so the roots won't spread. You'll have to thin it out with a digging fork or shovel every now and then. Give it to your friends, teach THEM how to plant it so it won't spread, too! Or donate it to the local garden club whenever you thin it out. Someone will love you for it.
Why do plants grow under fluorescent light?
Plants use light energy (present in the photons of blue and red light) to break apart carbon dioxide and combine it with nutrients in order to produce glucose. Any lighting will do as long as it is a strong emitter of blue and red light; the sun is one, and fluorescent bulbs are another.

What are the adaptations for sage brush?
Sagebrush is a common plant throughout the Western part of the United States and is not related in any way to the herb known as sage. When it is wet, it does smell somewhat like the herb, a probable source of the name.
Because it grows in hot, dry climates, sagebrush has adapted to minimal water requirements. It stores water in its small leaves and does not give up that water easily. So one adaptation is that its root system is able to obtain water when available. Its small waxy leaves close up their stomata (little openings on the bottom of the leaves) so as to hold on to water even during the hot, dry days.
Another adaptation is the formation of bitter tasting oils found in the leaves and stems which protects it from being grazed down by herbivores (rabbits, sheep, deer). Pronghorn antelope, also native to the same regions, can tolerate grazing on sagebrush to some extent.
The final adaptation is of a dual adaptation.
First, sagebrush reproduces primarily through underground rhizomes. "Shoots" come off the main plant and then form a new plant some distance away. This is an adaptation to the environment because the new little plant can rely on water and nutrients from the mother plant until it develops its own root system.
Second, because sagebrush does not tolerate fire and cannot come back from roots or rhizomes after a fire, it also produces seeds on a high stalk which are wind borne when mature. Seeds from plants not affected by the fire can be blown into the area which was burned off. As soon as water is available, usually from rain, the seeds can germinate and get started in the nutrient-rich ash left behind from the fire.

How long does it take to grow mint leaves?
In a garden it is best to harvest/pick them (1. time) when they are blooming (because you dont want them to set seeds, because those seeds will become plants with less taste, and mint spread enormusly fast) It is important when you pick them that you doesnt take them from the root but make sure there is still fresh leaves in the remaining piece of plant. It will then grow from those leaves very fast so you can pick them again later in the year. But mint is so easy to grow that it doesnt matter if you do something wrong - I just pick when i need them and just remove the flowers when they are just about to make seeds

How many stages are in each plant life cycle?
It really does depend on the organism in question, for example some species like dragonflies include metamorphosis, which completely transforms their appearance- some species include larval stages, like butterflies. Some species on average live only for a day or two, like some species of Mayfly! But all have a life and death stage, some have a 'teenage' stage, some a child/young stage and so on. It really does depend on the animal- imagine a human before it becomes an adult curling up into a ball and constructing a cocoon around its body and hangs on a leaf (or tree, mind the weight)!
