To get your horse's health up, first of all make sure it is not to fat or skinny. You can do this by clicking on "feed my horse". If your horse is a foal, it will gain health as it grows. You have to groom, feed and water your horse every day. If your horse's health is drastically low (15% or less) you must use a black orchid or your horse could die. If it's already 24:00, then there's no use trying, it won't work, but if you have the time, you can stroke it or groom it and the morale will go up. Also giving it carrots, apples or radishes and letting it out in the field or in it's box will boost the moral.

As of 8 February 2012, Howrse has changed the karma system. All players have a maximum of 10 points and players will lose karma for not following the rules. Losing karma means that one will lose privileges on the game such as access to the forums and the ability to private message. Karma can be regained every thirty days after loss of it. New players start with ten points.

Riding levels run from 1 - 10 on Howrse, the same as achievements. There is no level 20.
