In countries that have relaxed the ban on cannabis (The Netherlands, for example) cannabis use has dropped. In spite of its draconian drugs laws, and 70 years prohibition, cannabis use in the United States is the highest in the world.
In the 12 US States that have legalized medicinal cannabis, recreational use by youth has gone down.
The total prohibition of cannabis on the federal level has put a huge damper on promising research which has shown time and time again, the cancer fighting qualities of cannabinoids extracted from cannabis. As a result, most studies, except those allowed to demonstrate harm only, are done in other countries. A study from Spain showed that cannabis kills gliomas, the kind of brain cancer that Ted Kennedy has. A recently published multi-national study from Italy and Great Britain demonstrated that cannabis can combat multi-drug resistant pathogens such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
A recent NIDA study in the United States (by Donald Tashkin, MD) which was designed to show that cannabis smoking caused cancer, demonstrated exactly the opposite. The study showed that even long term, chronic smokers of cannabis, had no elevated risk of cancer.
The United States Government, itself, filed for and was awarded a patent (#6,630,507) on cannabinoids as neuroprotectants, useful in the prevention and treatment of a wide variety of diseases including stroke, trauma, auto-immune disorder, HIV dementia, Parkinson's and Alzheimers.
The cost of the failed "War on Drugs" runs to the billions of dollars. There are 730,000 arrests each year for simple cannabis possession. That amounts to five percent of all arrests. This is the equivalent of saying that 5 out of every 100 police officers does nothing but arrest people for having cannabis on their person. That means those 5 police officers are not arresting murderers, or rapists, or burglars.
It is virtually impossible to overdose on cannabis. There are no recorded deaths from cannabis. Contrast this with over 400,000 deaths from tobacco each year. If everyone who smoked tobacco switched to smoking cannabis, over 400,000 lives would be saved each year. Cannabinoids are non-addictive, (as opposed to nicotine), so smokers would find it much easier to quit, should they choose to.
If cannabis was legal, farmers could once again grow hemp, which is a source of plastic, paper, oil, fiber, food, diesel and other bio-fuels. Hemp is a renewable resource which impacts the earth much less than cutting down trees for paper, growing pesticide dependent cotton which depletes and poisons the soil, and using food crops like corn for bio-fuel which drives up food prices.
Prohibition of cannabis has engendered the same problems that prohibition of alcohol did in the first part of the twentieth century: organized and gangland crimes, disdain for law and order on the part of the general population, the arrest and incarceration of otherwise law abiding citizens, with the concomitant loss of voting rights, loss of student loans, loss of employment and family connections.
Whatever problems the use of cannabis may hold, they would be much more effectively addressed by regulation, and education.
Is smoking marijuana harmful during pregnancy?
Smoke of any kind can be harmful. Vaporizing marijuana as opposed to smoking a Marijuana Cigarette (joint, blunt, etc..) has been shown to be less harmful as the plant matter is not actually burned.
There has never been a confirmed death from cannabis use but a small number of people have died indirectly due to inhalation of their own vomit. The toxicity of cannabinoids is very low but as cannabis can affect your motor skills caution should be taken. There is not any data on people who have only smoked cannabis which means it is impossible to determine any link with cancer but it is probably is not very good for your lungs.
Where did marijuana first come from?
potaoes come from a potato plant which comes from calcium=) MSZ. G3NNA~M0NAi'=) Potatoes originally came from South America, along with tomatoes. Both were previously unknown to Europeans.
Can you smoke marijuana with acute bronchitis?
You can but you shouldn't. You could smoke cigarettes and crack too. Point is, it's not a question of "can" but a question of "can I do it with no harm?" The answer to that is no.
Bronchitis is inflamation of the bronchi. Any smoke will irritate the bronchi, and aggravate your bronchitis. My advice is to stop smoking pot and put your health first. After about a week you will feel much better, and you'll crave pot less and less as time goes by. Trust me, I am a recovered cronic pothead.
How long will marijuana stay in your system after smoking it 7 days straight?
No matter how much you smoke if you smoke more than a day or so it will be there for thirty days if you only smoke for a day or so it may be less but count on it being there for thrity days to be safe.
What Cannaboids are in Cannabis?
The cannabis plant has been shown to alleviate a number of medical symptoms including headaches, nausea and pain.
Cannabinoids are a group of various chemical compounds found in the cannabis plant which act on the receptors located on cells which repress the release of certain neurotransmitters in the brain. Different strains of the plant offer varying levels of cannabinoid and affect dosing when used for medicinal purposes. When found in nature, cannabinoids are formed in the sticky resinous structures known as glandular trichomes. A single trichome gland can contain a variety of cannabinoids, and recent research has shown that these cannabinoids work together to produce their medical benefits. This phenomenon has been called the "entourage effect" because it shows that a diverse variety of cannabinoids, in precise ratios, has a more significant medical benefit than an isolated single cannabinoid synthesized in a lab.
Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) THC is the best-known cannabinoid and is the primary psychoactive compound. It has also been found to be neuroprotective with analgesic (pain relieving) effects.
Cannabinol (CBN) CBN is also non-psychoactive and is generally attributed with a sedative effect. The typical amount of CBN found in most samples of cannabis is less than 1%.
Tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV) THCV is commonly believed to be an appetite suppressant. In addition, recent research suggests that this compound may be helpful in treating metabolic disorders including diabetes.
Cannabichromene (CBC) CBC is perhaps the least understood cannabinoid, but potentially among the most important. It is believed to stimulate bone growth, as well has inhibit inflammation and pain.
Cannabidivarin (CBDV) CBDV has been a relatively ignored cannabinoid until recently where many researchers believe that it may offer another option for the treatment of epilepsy.
Cannabidiol (CBD) CBD is where many of the medical benefits are attributed to cannabis and has resulted in many strains being 'enriched' to increase their CBD content. CBD is not psychoactive.
Tetrahydrocannabinolic Acid (THCA) THCA is the most prominent compound in fresh, undried cannabis. While the compound does not have psychoactive effects in its own right, it does have anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effects.
Cannabigerol (CBG) CBG is a non-physcoactive cannabinoid. Early results suggest it plays a role in fighting glaucoma symptoms, inflamed bowels and potentially as treatment for bacterial infections like MRSA.
Cannabidiolic Acid (CBDA) CBDA is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid believed to have anti-inflammatory properties. The compound is also thought offer benefits when dealing with nausea and vomiting

many reasons
it biulds up tar in the which can cause many diseases
just lots of reasons to do with health and diseases it gives you
i think that its pretty messed up....because i am a senior and yes i do smoke and i think that if you are 18 that you should be allowed to smoke outside away from school at certain times, and for the states to take that away is discrimination. Its discriminatioon against ppl who do smmoke, smoking ciggs are not ILLEGAL!!!!!Its not like we are out here doing severe drugs(well some may be but I AM NOT)anyways my point is i think they should do away with that law because if they don't we still going to keep smoking at school and end up getting in trouble....and yeah you guys who may read this may be thinking i am dumb for even starting to smoke but it actually calms my nerves....i am going to push the fact that they make it legal to smoke at school again!!! AND YOU CANT EVEN BREATH IN THE AIR WITHOUT GETTING TAR OR DISEASES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
I work with people in addiction and recovery; and having seen the harm that comes from long term marijuana use I can say as an expert that marijuana is harmful and should remain forever a banned substance. Of course this represents only one opinion and as always there are many who believe it should be legal
If you smoke tobacco out of a hookah that was previously used for marijuana will you test positive?
It depends on the amount of marijuana residue "resin" left in the pipe. Sometimes you can puff on an empty pipe that still has resin left in it and still get "stoned" as well as fail a drug test. Not a very good idea unless you do not have any drug tests coming your way within 30 days.
Is it possible to smoke weed and not get high?
Yes it's possible. Many users do not recognize the "high" the first few times. Also if you smoke really good bud for a long time and the next day smoke a little schwagg, you might not get high.
It has a very high dose of nicotine, which makes it very addictive. The first time you try it you will probably feel sick, even if you are used to nicotine, which makes it hard to pass the product in "should we allow this 'new' product"- tests. The world has no need for another tobacco product, although Snus hasn't been proven to be dangerous. Yet.
first thing: snus has less nicotine. second thing: It's not new. it's just new to the U.S. And it still ain't that new.
Snus is not illegal. I buy it all the time although I have to buy it online because the States will not carry the real stuff where I am at.
It is illegal to sell snus in the EU (apart from Sweden and Norway)
Snus is not illegal unless if you are under 18.
A dangerous depressant drug made from opium poppy?
the drug made from poppy juice is opium you can run the plant through a juicer and let it evaperate and then you have a smokeable shootable drinkable tar.....
Yes, he was a very peaceful man and smoked marijuana as a hobby and as a release. He was known to smoke marijuana with his high officials and friends.
If you get regular grass and get some paper and smoke it is that bad for you?
Inhaling smoke from any source damages the lung tissue. The exact material being burned will determine the type of damage and the ability of the tissue to recover.
Burning incense is probably less damaging because you inhale the aerosol, not the combustion products. Burning plastics can be extremely toxic, even fatal.
How can you help someone addicted to McDonald's food?
It is possible to help anyone with an addiction.
It is possible to help anyone with an addiction.
Show them the documentary called Supersize Me. If that doesn't put anyone off of McD's food, I don't know what will. Yikes!
yes it is very easiy to become addicted to mcdonalds you even get people risking there driving lisences to get a mcdonalds as they are drink driving also if they come from a deprived place like an island of the west coast of Scotland they can become relient on it.
Can marijuana help a stroke patient?
None, all effects on short term memory are temporary. Although, it offers neuroprotection, meaning it protects nerves and brain cells. There is also some evidence that it may facilitate brain cell development. The US DHS confirms the scientific research that marijuana can be used as a neuroprotectant and antioxidant, it hold the patent to these uses patent no. 6630507
Name the types of illegal drugs?
Look up "Schedule I controlled substances". That list contains all drugs that are illegal and also (according to the federal government at least) have no medical value. If you have any other controlled substance in your possession when you are not prescribed it, that is also illegal.
Does smoking marijuana affect the liver?
80% of nicotine is broken up by the enzymes in the liver, Its similar to alcohol consumption - the less effective the liver is the longer the effects of the nicotine last and less a smoker would feel compelled to smoke - the liver’s ability to detoxify dangerous substance is diminished. Smoking therefore worsens alcoholic liver disease.
How long does drinking marijuana tea stay in your system?
If you are impatient for the quick and dirty answer, scroll down to the 'Too Long, Didn't Read' (TLDR) part.
The easy answer is anywhere from 10-45 days.
The hard answer is that it will depend on a number of factors ranging from how much you weigh and how physically active you are, to how much tea you drank, how strong it was, and how often you've drank it... But the good news is you can pretty easily figure out a rough guess.
------ Quick Background ------
Basically, when you put anything in your body, your body tries to make it useful by breaking it down and metabolizing it for energy. In the case of 99% of drugs, once the chemical is broken down and metabolized it is no longer 'active' in the body and no longer has an effect... Because (sane) people dont go to drug tests while high, drug tests don't look for the actual 'active' drug chemical... instead they look for the inert chemicals that the body turns the drugs into! These are called metabolites.
------ End Background ------
In the special case of THC, the converted metabolites are easily stored in fat cells instead of simply being excreted with all other waste products the body generates. So unlike the metabolites of most other drugs which are out of your system in just a few days, the THC metabolites stick around for much much longer.
As far as tea vs smoking vs eating vs vaporizing, the method of consumption doesn't matter. What matters is the amount of THC you get.. For instance, making a light tea out of 2 grams of cheap crap weed might not yield as much THC (ie. get you as high) as 1/4 a gram of high quality dank smoked out of a bowl. So in this example the bowl would stay in your system longer than the tea. (However, yes, when people make MJ into a tea or food they usually make it with more MJ than you would probably want to sit and smoke in one sitting; so edibles (food/tea) are generally going to be stronger (and therefore last longer in your system) than a bowl or joint... But again this is only because you are taking in more THC.) (Example2: If you drank a tea in one day made from 2 grams of MJ or smoked 2 grams of the same MJ in one day, sure the high and effects will be quite different, but you would be consuming the same amount of THC (and therefore building up the same amount of THC metabolites) in either case. Thus both methods of consumption would take the same amount of time to leave the body.) I added this paragraph because you specifically asked about tea, and I just wanted to point out that since the method of consumption is irrelevant, this answer applies to all "How long will MJ stay in my system?" questions. Just for anybody else who runs across this in the future :)
---- FINALLY THE ANSWER ----
For a 'standard', in-shape, physically active guy (let's say 6ft, 160lbs), who never uses MJ but maybe took a hit or two off a joint or something one night- would most likely take 3-5 days to get it out of his system.. certainly would be fine by 7 days.
Now if you change any one of those variables (weight, physical activity level, amount of MJ used, and frequency of use), you're looking at (very roughly) another 7 days to get it out of your system for each variable changed... IE. If you are NOT physically active, add 7 days.. If you are overweight, add 7 days.. If you had more than 1 bowl/joint's worth of MJ, probably add 7 days.. and ESPECIALLY if you still have THC metabolites in your system from previous times you've used MJ, add 7 more days (this is probably the most important because of how long THC metabolites stay in the fat cells, so every time you use MJ you are adding to the amount of metabolites stored in the cells, and thus increasing the time it will take for those cells to flush themselves clean. (If you are a heavy/daily user for a solid month or two, and you are in-shape and physically active, it would still take at least 30-40 days to 100% clear out of your system because of all the built up metabolites... If you are a heavy/daily user AND are overweight AND not physically active, you're probably looking at around 60+ days to be 100% clean.
----- TLDR -----
tl;dr - It doesn't matter what method you use to get high from MJ (tea, smoking, eating, whatever)... it will not have a significant impact on how long it takes the THC metabolites to leave your system.. There are only 2 things that really matter: 1) The quantity of metabolites you build up in your system (More frequent use or higher quality MJ = more THC in the body = more THC metabolized and then stored in fat cells = more time to flush it all out)... And 2) how efficient your body is at expelling those built up metabolites hanging out in your fat cells... So skinny people will get rid of it faster than people with more fat cells for it to be stored in, and active people will also burn and flush out these fat cells much more efficiently than somebody who sits on the couch all day.
The averagely quoted figure is usually around the 30 day mark. But again is tremendously subject to your personal situation, so 10-45 days is about all anybody can say without knowing more info... and even then it isn't an exact science whatsoever... If you have something important you need to do a drug test for, error on the side of caution and allow more time than you would think for it to leave your system... If you have a drug test coming up, it's probably too late to 'allow more time than you would think' to get in the clear; but adding extra exercise to your day and drinking PLENTY of water to help your body flush out your cells can make a very HUGE difference!!! Tons of exercise and water can probably cut in half the amount of time you would normally need to get clean... whether that's 10 days cut down to 5, or 70 days cut down to 35 is up to your body and how much you try.
----- Extra Infos -----
(There are also a number of methods/tips/products for helping 'dirty' people pass a drug test.. There are WAAAYY too many things to mention here that you could try.. None of them are 100% effective but some are more effective than others.. I recommend a multi-pronged approach using a number of different methods, but in general it goes like this: 1) Stop smoking ASAP after you figure out you're going to have a drug test (duh) 2) exercise and drink lots of water every day (the most effective and also completely free), and then 3) the internet is great for methods/tips to help final flush your body on the day before and the day OF the test...
If you are super desperate you can also try some whacky stuff like over-the-counter 'detox' kits (or make one yourself, they basically consist of Gatoraid and B vitamins), or even go so far as to buy 'clean' powdered urine off the internet.. Just don't fall for anything that you are supposed to add to your 'dirty' urine to try and trick the test into thinking it's clean or somehow mess with the result. Way back in the day there was a rumor that adding a drop of Visine or bleach or something like that to your urine cup would mess up the test.. I don't know if that was true or not, but I do know that tests these days check for added chemicals and change color if it is adulterated/tampered with. They also have a temperature range and if your urine is not between like 92-98 degrees(F) it will fail. So if you're gonna try something crazy, just remember that anything that isn't 100% natural human urine, warmed to body temperature, will probably get you busted.)
Can someone be addicted to marijuana?
If you want a short answer, then here it is. It's your first time smoking Marijuana. The THC (chemical in Marijuana that gets you high) of the plant goes thru your body, but your body doesn't know what to do with it. It's normal, and its just another way of saying that your body needs to adjust to the chemical. Over time, your body familiarizes with the THC, and uses it to get you to the "high" state.
Long answer:
Well, me and several of my friends have argued over this. I was once presented the idea by my brother that its all about technique and then I found this which basically proves he is right. My brother is freakishly smart too things just make sense to him, 1580 on SAT and 4.9 GPA (first 2 years of high school), then he started smoking and now he's at party school Umass. Anyways I got a link for ya and I will kinda explain it. http://www.thestraighttoke.com/getting-high-the-first-time-you-smoke-2008-05.420
My friend once said your body isn't adjusted to weed the first time and even with a big hit you wouldn't get high. Bull the reason it didn't happen to him his first time even though he got a fair size, not big, hit was he was home with some friends and afraid of getting in trouble pumping adrenaline which can easily counter the effects of many weak drugs. The supposed Caniboids should still trigger plenty of effects on the brain, given the strain of Cannibus. Most the things weed do are things you encounter in real life by other things, they just all come together for a more natural than you think HIGH. Get a big enough hit, and relax you'll be just fine. Read the link, which again is http://www.thestraighttoke.com/getting-high-the-first-time-you-smoke-2008-05.420
The dude that wrote it has a lot of posts and is wicked smart, think I read MIT or WPI so read all his stuff about it and have fun man.
Will drinking Mountain Dew get marijuana out of my system?
NO! The only way to get it out of your system is to stop smoking it.
Does drinking lots of water flush marijuana out of your system?
http://www.test-pass.com/Testing_Info.asp http://www.erowid.org/psychoactives/testing/testing_info9.shtml http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20061120221923AAf9wyJ Short answer: Yes and no. Lots of water, yes. Flushes out system, dilutes urine sample, helps in riding the body of marijuana from the fatty tissues. Beer, no. Beer is a form of sugar, and likely will stop the proper processing of blood, fat, and other bodily elements working together. Golden Seal will fool some over the counter tests, but not professional tests. It masks marijuana in the urine, giving an unreadable result. But the urine can be tested for Golden Seal. The Test-Pass link gives two ways to prepare for a drug test.
