Who invented the corner tube boiler?

November 12, 1944, the first basic patent for Corner Tube Boilers (= Eckrohrkessel, Berlin, Germany) was applied for. During this time oil as fuel ran short. All efforts, to save energy and use domestic and alternate resources, were to be made. One came up with an idea, to operate cars and trucks, not on gasoline or diesel fuel, but with steam.

Dr. Vorkauf, a specialist for water circulation in boilers, especially in La Mont boilers (forced circulation boilers), got the order to design a small boiler for a steam engine fired with coal or wood. The result was not as expected a forced circulation boiler, but a natural circulation boiler. A forced circulation boiler of this size would have been too costly.

Due to his experience with the La Mont boiler Dr. Vorkauf had the idea to obtain a pre-separation of the steam - water mixture in front of the drum. An extremely lively water circulation resulted from unheated downcomers and a suitable arrangement of the mixture tubes. The unheated downcomers were installed in the 4 corners of the boiler, where they not only served the purpose of water circulation, but also as a support frame for the boiler. The boiler with such an arrangement of the downcomers in the corners was called Corner Tube Boiler (Eckrohrkessel, Eckrohr-Boiler).

Give 3 examples of pneumatic systems?

Pneumatic systems are usually closed systems. Blowing up a party balloon would be one example. A cycle pump would be another, and an air-based system for moving components in pipes would be another.

A windmill or a hand fan would not usually be considered to be pneumatic systems because they do not enclose the air component.

What is a role a person plays when in the feedback loop of a machine?

In any feed back control system, the controlling device has some parameters to be set (by the operator or person) before it is put to use, so that the system works under stable conditions. Also if the behaviour of the media (which is to be controlled) changes drastically the system may not work stable, which then needs a person's intervention.

What is Off-line robot programming?

Off-line Programming (OLP) is a Robot programming method where the Robot Program is created independent from the actual robot cell. The robot program is then uploaded to the real robot for execution. In off line programming the robot cell is commonly represented as a graphical 3Dmodel.

What is the difference between lining and coatings?

Linings are materials used to protect a container from corrosion and/or to protect the contents of a container from contamination by the container shell material. They are commonly thick, built-up systems that may or may not contain matting or similar reinforcing material.

Coatings generally refer to materials used for protective and/or functional purposes, while paints refer to materials used for aesthetics or decorative purposes. When coatings are used singly or in combination with reinforcing materials like matting, etc., they are termed as "lining", like for lining the inside of drinking water tanks.

However, there exist many similarities in composition, handling, and the use of paints, coatings and linings. There are also some differences.

What ia penalty cost?

It is a cost that is calculated based on how much the goods should returned profit for you If they were sold or rented to other company . This cost is important in the inventory holding cost Since by this cost you will judge either you produce the products and keep them or waiting until the order comes to you and produce only the desired amounts without keeping any amount in the inventory .

What is the shortage cost in inventory planning?

The penalty cost is the cost per unit of not satisfying the order when it is received. Shortage cost or stock-out cost is the total of all costs associated with shortage units. We use penalty cost in inventory planning. The penalty cost should not be something you pay actually. It can be like a chance of profit you missed, which is called the opportunity cost. However, there is a case when you should pay a penalty for the shortage. This happens when you have an agreement with a customer to satisfy the demand by a certain date with the right quantities, or you will pay a penalty for the breach of contract.

What does MAD refer to?

It refers to Mean Absolute Deviation. It is the sum of errors divided by the sample size. It can be used in evaluating the accuracy of demand forecasting method by summing the differences between the actual demand and the forecast demand then dividing by the sample size. It is more convenient to use than the other method of evaluating the accuracy of forecasting method, which is Mean Squared Error (MSE). MSE is calculated by taken the sum of squared errors divided by the sample size. MSE uses the squared errors, which can enlarge the error values unnecessarily.

Why it is necessary to temper hardened steel immediately after quenching?

What is a vent in foundry?

Vent is an opening provided for gases to escape from the moulding box.

The gases are formed during solidification of the metal.i.e, when the metal is cooled ,the earlier high temperatures will lead to the formation of steam ,this steam is converted into gases to be escaped.

What is the difference between performance of 89c51 and 89s51?

The difference between performance of 89c51 and 89s51 is that the 89c51 has a standard 51 core. The 89c51 program cannot be directly ported to 51 compared to the 89s51.
