It is recommended that you should use new hardware because of the rust and wear and tear on the old hardware. If your looking to be as economically mindful as possible then you can use the old ones, but it also a lot easier to just get new ones and install them

no, because a new library card requires a new number and the old number on your old card will be deleted.

Normally this shouldn't happen. What you can do is right-click on your iPhone when it appears in the left side of the iTunes interface, and click restore from backup. iTunes automatically takes backup of your iPhone before synching it, so it should turn out the way it was before you synched. But like I said, it shouldn't delete your apps when you synch with iTunes.

well i dont think you can becuz the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS are not the same thing. Most of the time the upgrades are free.. so yeh u cant upgrade a iPHone 3G to iPhone 3GS cuz they are both different phones.
