As far as I know it's the only developing tool that gives you all the necessary tools and complete freedom over the app creation. It is also the only one which allows you to put your apps on the app store. You do have to register and you need a mac. Im not sure if it's free, i havn't looked through the registering process but when you follow that link it has a button saying $99/year? Not sure if you can get it in pounds?

You can not watch any tv shows or movies on the itouch unless you buy the movie or show on the iTunes store or make your own movie

No. the bluetooth and wifi cababilities currently don't work with mobile phones so you'd have to take them of your ipod and put them on a phone through a computer.

No. and there never will be. Garrysmod (i think that is what you mean) requires a fast processor and a fast graphics card. it exceeds the capability of an Ipod touch however i don't doubt that there will soon be portable phones capable of playing games like this
