The iPhone is better really but it depends on what you would like.If you want a phone i would seriously consider a iPhone.Yet the iPod is great for children or Adults that don't really need or want a phone's you wont my opinion i think the iPhone is better.

No, you do not need a contract for a new iPod Touch. The contract that you see for the iPhone (the iPod Touch with the phone, as some people cal it) on those Apple commercials is for the AT&T carrier that is exclusive to the iPhone. You have to have a two-year contract from AT&T if you want the phone service on any new iPhone.

This contract does not apply to the iPod Touch because the iPod Touch does not have a phone built into it.

You'll be disappointed to hear that bluetoothing songs from IPod to IPod has

not yet been made possible.

In other words. You can't.

But of a bummer when you've got this bluetooth 2.1 on you IPod and can't

really use it. But you can bluetooth pictures and photos by using 'BUMP' which

is currently available in the apps store.

On any iPod touch, to adjust the backlight, follow these steps:

1. Go to Settings

2. Scroll down and click Brightness

3. Now you can adjust the backlights brightness. (sorry I don't know how to time the backlight to dim after a certain amount of time, although I don't even think it's possible on the itouch but only on the nano)

An iPod Touch works with pretty much any wireless router. However, you still must pay your high speed internet bill.

Yes you can. When a phone is deactivated, all that changes is you cannot use the phone to make phone calls or send texts from it unless you put an app that uses a Wi-Fi signal to do those two functions. All apps for all phone operating systems that work in a Wi-Fi environment will still work just fine.

There are apps in the app store that allow you to record sounds, and, instruments if you wanted (althogh the quality may not be great). Also with the new 3.0 firware, there is an app that comes built in, called "Voice Memo's" wich records, so you could use that if you wanted to.

As for a mic, the iPod touch does not have a built in mic, but you can buy mics, that plug into the same hole used to plug into the usb computer wire. There are also mics on the iPhone headsets, wich, I beleive, work with iPod touches.
