Can you have two iTunes libraries on one computer?

If you have the latest iTunes and use XP: hold the shift key down when starting up iTunes and you will be asked what library you want to use (or if you want to create a new one) :) I have one library with lossless files (classic) and one for my daughter's MP3 files (Nano)

OR

Two different profiles!

Alternate answer:

I followed these exact directions and it didn't work. I was asked whether I wanted to replace my ipod's files with the new library contents (which didn't exist yet), or to place my ipod's files into my new library. I chose the second and nothing happened at all. The process simply stopped and nothing happened. Way to go Apple, way to go.

What does it mean on iTunes when it says Erase and Sync your iPod?

It means that iTunes wants to erase all of your songs, videos, tones, audiobooks etc, from your other iTunes library that you have on another computer.

NOTE: By erasing and syncing, you WILL NOT erase the photos or videos as they are not part of the iTunes library you are syncing from.

There are two known ways of solving this problem:

1) Connect your iPod/iPhone/iPad to the computer. Open 'File' - 'Devices'. Select "Transfer purchases". It should immediately start transferring purchases, and your iPod will be synced to the iTunes library you are using.

However if this does not work, use the method below.

2) Connect your iPod/iPhone/iPad to the computer. It will ask you whether you want to erase and sync. Click "Cancel" Transfer all the music, videos, audiobooks etc. from your old/ other iTunes library to the library you are currently using.

Disconnect the device and plug it in again. It will once again ask you if you would like to "erase and sync". this time, click "erase and sync."

It will erase your old iTunes library to your new one.

My ipod touch is synced with another itunes library but I need it to connect with another itunes library i can't earase it because all my songs would be deleted so how would i sync with a new itunes?

you usually have the option to not delete all your data (song or whatever) when connecting your ipod to another computer, just make sure you don't sync your ipod with that other library.

Does iTunes let you change the speed of a song?

No, iTunes does not let you change the speed of a song. iTunes will only allow you to play and hold a song, not mix it up or change it. You must have music editing software to change the speed of a song.

When I sync my iPod it says 'The disk could not be read from or written to' I have Googled my problem before and somebody had said to restore it. I have and still have this problem. What now?

I managed to get round the problem by making some extra room on the hard drive of the computer I normally use for syncing my devices as opposed to on the device itself. I hope this helps l

How do you download music from iTunes onto your iPod?

Assuming you do not have Itunes already installed into your computer, and you wish to download music legally, follow these steps:

Make sure your computer has Itunes, much older versions of computers (before windows xp), may not be able to install it

If your computer does not have Itunes you must go to the website: http://www.apple.com/itunes/?cid=OAS-US-DOMAINS-itunes.com

From there you will click the "Itunes" button on the top bar.

It will then say "Itunes 10.5, free download"

Click the button and it will take you to another page with another button saying, "download now" At this point, or earlier you may need an email address because you will need to create an apple id

Click the download button and it will begin downloading

It will then ask you whether you would like to open or save, i would suggest saving to your desktop.

Once it is done downloading, you should have a desktop icon that says "Itunes setup" click it.

There will be some options about Itunes that you will be able to choose on your own.

Once you are done the setup, Itunes will open up.

From there you will go to the left where it will say "Itunes Store" this will be where you will buy your music, movies, etc from.

Once you are ready to buy music, plug the USB cable that is given to you along with your Ipod and earphones, into a USB port on your computer.

This should synchronize your Ipod to Itunes, allowing you to download music from your computer to your Ipod.

Afterwards, you can go back to "Itunes Store" and download music onto your account which will transfer onto your Ipod (make sure your USB cable is still plugged in)

If you delete quiktime will iTunes get deleted as well?

iTunes will not be deleted if you delete Quicktime. iTunes will not work without Quicktime. If you have a Mac you should not delete Quicktime as it forms an integral part of the system and many applications rely on it being present.

If you have a subscription to iTunes is it completely free of charge with no strings attached?

Simply creating an account with iTunes does not cost you anything. The only time it will cost you money is if you buy a song/album/video/whatever. In fact, you can even get 2 or 3 free songs per week if you have an account =]
