What does the Japanese suffix chin mean?

The Japanese suffix "chin" is a cute and affectionate way of addressing someone. It is often used in a friendly or endearing context towards someone you are close to, like calling them "dear" or "sweetheart" in English.

Shouldn't 623 be pronounced Ro-ni-san instead of Mutsumi?

In Japanese, numbers are often pronounced according to the On'yomi reading used when counting. In the case of 623, it is more common to pronounce it as "Roku-ni-san" (ろくにさん) instead of "Mutsumi" using the number's individual readings.

What does Abarero mean in English?

暴れる /a ba re ru/ means 'to rage, to act violently, to go wild', 'abarero' is the simple imperative form of that verb.

What is O genki desu ka watashi wa genki desu anata?

Watashiwa o genki desu means "I am fine" or "I am well"

However

When speaking about yourself and your own condition, it would be improper to say o-genki (the 'o' here is a form of honorific).

It would be much more natural to say

watashi WA genki desu.

or simply genki desu.

What does 'ryoko wa ii desu ka' mean in Japanese?

The meaning of this sentence depends strongly on context. 旅行はいいですか (ryokou wa ii desu ka) would probably be used to mean "is the trip/travel good?", but could also be a way of asking permission to travel.

What is the difference between watashi and boku in Japanese?

The idea is that you never hold yourself in high regard when you refer to yourself when speaking to others. Watashi is a general word so it's okay. However in rare occurrences some women do use "watakushi" or "atashi" (the usual examples are in animation) but the former are generally for people that sound arrogant about themselves.

What does ashiteru mean in English?

You could say just 愛してる "Aishiteru" and sound more natural instead of like someone who doesn't speak Japanese.

Either way it means "I Love you"

What does arimasu mean in Japanese?

Iimasu is the polite form of the verb "iu" which means to speak/talk.

What does toto mean in Japanese?

What does otusa mean in Japanese?

I think you mean 'Otosan'. This means 'Dad' or 'Father'. I get the impression from my study that wifes sometimes call their husband 'Otosan'.

What does the word bonsan mean in Japanese?

Bonsai (盆栽) (lit. tray cultivation) is the art of growing trees, or woody plants shaped as trees, in containers. Bonsai is sometimes confused with dwarfing, but dwarfing more accurately refers to researching and creating cultivars of plant material that are permanent, genetic miniatures of existing species. Bonsai does not require genetically dwarfed trees, but rather depends on growing small trees from regular stock and seeds. Bonsai uses cultivation techniques like pruning, root reduction, potting, defoliation, and grafting to produce small trees that mimic the shape and style of mature, full-sized trees.

What does the Japanese word mata aimashou mean?

'Chaimashou' grammatically is volitional/suggestive form of '-chau' which is an auxiliary verb (mostly used in informal context) added to the end of other verbs, adding a sense of "doing something to the end, completion or emphasis". However I have never heard of it being used in volitional/suggestive form. It would mean roughly 'let's.....' where in the blanks goes the meaning of the verb that precedes it.

What is the the meaning of 'watashi wa anata ga suki desu yo?

you are almost correct because the meaning of watashi wa anata or aishite imasu is "I LOVE YOU" ♥♥♥

i think, [not completely sure] that it means "i like you" but I'm probably wrong..

watashi wa: I

anata ga: You

suki: like.

desu: indicates the end of the sentence

i think.. :D

Either "I like you" or "I love you". Could be either one.

-edit by another user-

it means "I like you!" the yo indicates emphasis on the statement, so in other words it would be more like "I REALLY like you!" but if you were to be affectionate the word love is ai or aishita so if it was a beginner speaking to you. Yes they said they liked you. but if they were advanced, they might mean your cute in that little kid way.

BTW The previous answer is correct.

What does Kore wa ae desu yo mean in Japanese?

これは会えですよ (kore ha ae desu yo) is like saying "This is a meeting".

What does the Japanese name Yako mean?

I have found two meanings for Miyako, but I'm still trying to find which is the correct, or at least most commonly known one...

Japanese names are made up of small parts which mean different things. In this case, the parts are 'mi' 'ya' and 'ko'.

I know that 'mi' means 'beautiful', and 'ko' means 'child'. 'Ya', however, is so far unclear to me.

Miyako could either mean:

  • beautiful March child

or

  • beautiful night child

Personally, I prefer the latter. =]

Miyako writes 美夜子 , 夜 (ya) standing for night ( http://jisho.org/kanji/details/%E5%A4%9C )

What does wa nani ga suki desu ka mean?

好きですか (suki desu ka) means "Do you like?". Usually there is an implied subject and object associated with this phrase that allows omission when spoken. For example, if two friends are talking and one introduces the topic of a new video game they may have purchased. The other friend might say 好きですか to ask if the first friend likes the game.
