Can you explain the difference between cool jazz and bebop?

Be-Bop is a STYLE of Jazz which began in the early forties. During WWII Big Bands (who played a style of Jazz called "SWING") lost many members to the draft, and a shrinking number of venues could afford to pay large ensembles. A small coterie of young players (including trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie, saxophonist Charlie Parker, pianist Thelonious Monk, guitarist Charlie Christian, drummer Kenny Clarke and bassist Oscar Pettiford) began experimenting together with new musical ideas. They, and other like-minded individuals (mostly young, but including some progressive elder statesmen like Coleman Hawkins) included complex harmonies of the sort used by Ravel and Debussy as well as virtuosic technique which they developed on their own. While the discipline of highly-arranged big-bands required restrictions of every sort, the small form factor of be-bop groups allowed for a great deal of interplay and freedom of communications among the rhythm section and soloists. Drummers now "dropped bombs" accenting and inspiring horn soloists, and pianists or guitarists were relieved of timekeeping duties. Instead of complicated arrangements, be-bop musicians primarily improvised on variations of the 12-bar blues form or well-known popular "tin-pan-alley"show tunes (especially Gershwin's "I Got Rhythm") with absurdly complicated melodies superimposed over those structures. Extreme tempos were also the norm, elevating be-bop Jazz from dancing music to "art" music. because arrangements (and the original melody of the tune) were now superfluous, soloists would "stretch out" improvising much longer over several choruses of a tune's structure. The ability to spontaneously invent creative new melodies became far more important than beautiful tone, hitting high notes, or other important attributes for "swing" players.

Charlie Parker arguably contributed the most to the genre, innovating at every harmonic, melodic and rhythmic level. A genius akin to Mozart "Bird" was widely imitated both for his musical contributions and hedonistic lifestyle (as an alcoholic and heroin addict.) Unfortunately, many "hero-worshipers" followed his example, leading to a near-epidemic of heroin addicts among be-bop musicians.

Bebop has since been absorbed into modern jazz, and what was once considered wild and revolutionary is now heard everyday on car commercials. Branches of be-bop known as 'hard-bop" which absorbed more bluesy gospel elements and "cool jazz" where bebop was interpreted by mostly white West-Coast musicians have both been accepted as "mainstream Jazz" by the '70s.

What is the birth place of jazz?

No one knows but the consensus of opinion points to New Orleans.

When was bebop jazz popular?

Where? At Minton's in Harlem, under the guiding hands of a group of African American geniuses - Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie and Thelonious Monk at the fore front. It developed in after hours jam sessions from musicians who were all experts in 'swing' but wanted to create something new that would distinguish them from other players.

As a child in School, I played Jazz Music by ear. Then from class IX I switched on to Music Notation , studied under a Teacher who was an LRSM in degree. I then did the IV grade in Music Theory (95 Mks.) after having passed all three examinations given by her. i then prepared for the V grade Theory and VI Grade in Practical. I even filled the form and payed the examination fees. But then I enter the convent and wasn't permitted to do these examinations since I was a I Yr. Novice. Once I was professed I took up to regular teaching, although I took to Developing other children's Talents. At one stage about 10 yrs. ago I taught Music in school and had special classes in the evening spending extra time free of charge to teach interested children. and thus promoted the Trinity books as syllabus for Study. Ever since then I pursued My study of Music again.

But this time I switched on to the Keyboard since it is a Modern day's instrument. Then did a 2 Yr. refresher course under the able guidance of another Teacher who had passed her LTCL. She trained me in Teaching all the grades up to VI. With the VII and VIII Grades, I did a research on my own; but came back to her to pursue the The VIII Grade Trinity college Examination in Theory which I failed. I had obtained 44 Marks. Then on her recommendation I pressed on and joined the Boss School of Music that was then famous and recognized by Trinity college London. I Passed their Basic level and Intermediate Examinations with Distinctions and in the Yr. 2002 , I passed the Performer' Certificate. Examination in Music. There after I went back to my LTCL Teacher, who helped me complete the Teacher's Guidance studies for Grades VII and VIII in Music Theory and Practical according to the Trinity college syllabus and I was awarded a Special Teacher's Certificates for Theory (Dist.) and Practical (Merit) She had a special licence of income tax t to run her Music class in her house and she also procured a letter of recognition from the head of the Music Department for Trinity College of Music in Mumbai, which she gave me a copy, as I needed it in school. There after I have literary chewed the study of Music theory and developed my practical skills. Flapper and nozzle arrangement?

In this work, a Pneumatic Nozzle Flapper is

built and simulated. This device is used to

stimulate a mechanical force that is applied at

the same time to an array of cantilevers that

needs to be pushed mechanically. A thermal

microactuator functions as a flapper for the

pneumatic system allowing same amount of

force to be applied at the same time to all

cantilevers. Simulation shows that the idea is

feasible and can work at the micro scale.

Finite Element Analysis is provided for the

pneumatic structure and the electrothermal

microactuator.

When was jazz introduced to America?

jazz wasn't introduced to America. jazz IS America!

The logical idea is to try to link jazz back to African music somehow. But, for many reasons, this turns out not to be so straightforward. Perhaps the most potent denial of this direct African connection is the fact that in 1808 the US federal gov't declared the slave trade to be illegal. So after 1808, very few new slaves were arriving in America directly from Africa. To put this date into perspective: the first known appearance of the word "jazz" in print didn't arrive until 1913. That's leaves a period of ~100 years for American slaves to evolve away from authentic African music forms!

However, there are clearly some ties that can be made back to West African music from jazz. But this is the sort of stuff that music historians argue about. You've asked a very simple question and it deserves a simple answer...

If you had a gun to my head, I would say that "jazz" was first cultivated as an independent musical form in the first decade of the 20th century.

But keep in mind that the actual origin of jazz is anything but simple.
