What do jehovahs witness do to to prevent illness?

We seek medical help for ourselves and our families, and we trust that the trained medical proffessionals will have our best interests at heart. We do not believe that a person's health should be left to faith or prayers alone as some religions teach. But when we get sick, we are encouraged to go seek medical help.

The ONLY prohibition that we observe is what we percieve to be the Bible's view on the use of blood. At Acts 15: 28,29, the Bible states to abstain from blood. In view of this, and other Bible verses, we do not accept blood transfusions. However, we do accept non-blood substances in place of blood transfusions, as long as real blood is not used.

In the field of non-blood treatment, there have been fantastic advances to the point now, where the use of real blood is almost always not actually needed. Some entire hospitals have now converted completely to not using blood at all for transfusions. A non-witness website called noblood.org gives a lot of information about this. We love life and health, and so we seek and accept medical help as needed. We accept almost all treatments offered.

We only reject blood transfusions or the infusion of the major componants of blood. We do accept the safer alternatives to this, and as a result often have a quicker recovery than those who take blood. There has been a great deal of advancement in recent years of non blood alternative at many hospitals around the world, and even the US military is now looking into non blood treatment.

Some individuals may reject various other medical treatments for other personal non-religious reasons, but our religious view is as outlined.

Why is 1914 so important to Jehovah witnesses?

We're glad you asked.

When you say 'important', -- that could make it all too confusing; --- there needs to be a 'qualifier' to answer the question.

We do NOT CELEBRATE anything about 1914. We don't hold a party; we don't have a ritual; we don't give gifts; we don't dress up. We never did any of those things. We're certainly not like the rest of the world, religious or secular, that takes anything-&-everything and makes a big deal about it; (ie birthdays, Easter, Christmas, July 4th, Mother's day, Thanksgiving, and-so-on, and-so-on.) So may that be clear; so we can put 1914 in its proper perspective.

1914 is only as important as: a) the creation of man; b) the flood of Noah's day; c)the birth of our Saviour Christ Jesus; d) Jesus baptism in the Jordan; e) Christ's death; f) Christ's resurrection; etc etc etc. - - - So please don't make more of it than what it really is.

1914 is simply another year 'in Bible prophecy', in the outworking of Jehovah's ORIGINAL PURPOSE.

Just as Christ's birth was fortold hundreds, even thousands of years in advance; and just as Christ's baptism, death was also fortold; also his resurrection; the Bible actually providing a TIMELINE of these events (in Daniel for example); - - Likewise was it fortold WHEN Christ would stop sitting at God's right hand, awaiting his Kingship. Just as the YEAR of Christ's baptism and his subsequent ANOINTING was fortold; also was the YEAR of Christ's receiving his Kingship. According to Bible prophecy, that happened in the fall of 1914. It happened INVISIBLE to human eyes; but it happened never-the-less. Therefore on earth, 1914 marked a change even in human history, as historians have indicated noticing a change.

That's why our Watchtower magazine is really called: 'The Watchtower Announcing God's Kingdom'. God's Kingdom by Christ was finally established in the heavens in 1914, and Jehovah's people are the only ones ANNOUNCING it, thru their literature, and their door-step ministry. That's why we consider ourselves AMBASSADORS and envoys of God's already established Kingdom Government. No one else has recognized that God's Kingdom by Christ was established then, ONLY Jehovah's people.

1914 also STARTED what the Bible terms as 'the last days'. The 'last days' would have a 'beginning' - - a middle - - and an actual 'end'. That 'end' would culminate in: 1) the complete destruction of all FALSE RELIGIONS, (at the hands of their own people, being finally fed-up with the likes of it, and how they have been pilfered by their clergy system); -- 2) the complete destruction of all earth's kingdoms or governments; (being accomplished by Christ Jesus and his heavenly executioners -- and 3) the annihilation of all 'evil-doers' in what the Bible terms 'Armageddon' (God's righteous war) (God being the judge of who is an 'evil-doer', and who is one of the 'meek' ones that will be given their earthly inheritance.)

But, 1914 is no-more-or-less important than anything else in Bible history and Bible prophecy.

What do fairies symbolise in the jehovahs religion?

Fairy SymbolismFairies can symbolise many things. As with the nature of many spiritual beings, the term "fairy" cannot be used specifically for one creature but rather is a general term often used to describe a range of ethereal creatures.

While the common conception of the fairy is a small creature with wings, fairies were once considered to be a wide range of creatures, from the mysterious elves to the seductive mermaids, even the banshee (the sould of a dead woman who wails upon the death of a person) was considered "fairy"

The common few of the many things fairies symbolises are :

Nature being fragments of the earth's spirits, fairies are the corporeal forms of the natural forces living on our planet. Fairies are also known to represent beauty and feminity as most fairies are depicted as female with wings (wings being the symbol of freedom and liberation) hence the liberation of females or a symbol of female strength. The wings of the fairy can also denote spirituality. The wings of the fairy are its most striking and outstanding feature, it is what sets them apart from the other beings of the corporeal realm (much like the mermaid's tail and the selkie's sealskin) and wings are often depicted as the manifestation of the human psyche. To quote Renfield in the novel Dracula "...the ancients were right when they represented the soul as a butterfly." It is also known that fairies can denote a sort of childlike or innocent state in a person as most accounts of fairies are made by little children whose innocent state enables their psychic abilities to percieve such creatures better than the adult mind which is tainted with preconceptions and practicality. However, the fairy can also connotate seduction or trickery. In ancient times, the fairies were mischevious beings and were often believed to be in league with the witches or, responsible for lost items, sour milk and, at times seducing humans. The fairy also symbolises magic and mystery. Finally, the fairy also symbolises homosexuality.

Fairies are imaginary creatures. Different traditions have them living in different places, such as woods, mountaintops, and flowers. Since they are make-believe, you could pretend they live anywhere, even under your pillow.

All Fairies are dependent on a flowering plant. Each flower species has its dependent species and house them.

Can Jehovah witnesses dye their hair?

Yes. Dying the color of one's hair really has nothing to do with our worship to Jehovah. Though, we do want to have an acceptable appearance because we represent God in the things we do, something like this would not be of any importance.

Are Jehovah's Witnesses allowed to work on Sunday?

Jehovah's Witnesses do not follow a "sabbath" rule strictly, although most meetings with Public talks are held on Sundays for convenience, but sometimes they are held on Saturdays. In addition, Jehovah's Witnesses have mid-week meetings that also give opportunities for worship.

Are Jehovah's Witnesses circumcised?

Not as a matter of religious practice as it was with the Jews. We are not under the Law of Moses, since we are now under the Law of the Christ. The Law of the Christ does not require the physical circumcision as did the Law of Moses, although there is a figurative spirtual circumcision of the heart (Romans 2:29).

Jehovah's Witnesses neither require nor deny the practice of circumcision. (1 Corinthians 7:19) For reasons of hygene, the parents may decide to have their child circumcised, but that will be a matter strickly for the parents to decide.

Additional Answer: This is a non issue for Jehovah's Witnesses. Although many do based on the health benefits that have been proven to come from circumcision, but it is considered a personal decision. They do however, teach "circumcision of the heart" which is a refining of one's personality to adhere to the instruction of Jehovah and following the example of Jesus Christ.

According to Jehovahs Witnesses do only the 144 000 have the prospect of eternal life?

No.

Jesus spoke of a "Little Flock," and another group that he called "Other Sheep."(John 10:16)

We believe that the "Little Flocck" that Jesus talks about referrs to the group that Revelation 7:4 and Revelation 14:1-3 specifically numbers at 144,000. These ones have a job to do in heaven. They are to rule with Christ Jesus over the earth. (Revelation 5:9,10; Revelation 20:6)

But as I said before, Jesus talks about "Other Sheep." We believe these are the ones mentioned at Revelation 7:9, a "Great Crowd" that no man can number. We believe that these ones will be the ones who will experience the fullfillment of Jesus word at Matthew 5:5, where he said the "mild-tempered ones will inherit the earth." Psalms 37:29 says that these meek ones will live forever upon the earth. We believe that the 144,000 will rule over these "meek ones" that will live forever on the earth in paradise conditions. So, we believe that there is actually an un determined number who receive eternal life. A few, a "little Flock" of 144,000 are in heaven ruling over the vast majority, a "Great Crowd" who live forever here on the earth.

Do Jehovah's Witnesses sing the national anthem?

No, we believe that the only one to whom worship is to be given, is Jehovah God himself. Therefore, we do not "salute" the flag of any country, as we see it as a form of idol worship. However, we do respect the flag and the government for which it stands. We will not deface the flag, or treat it with contempt in any way. We view protests (including flag burning), as rebellion against God himself, since he allows these governments to stand in their position as authorities, serving the greater good. We stand respectfully when the flag is presented, as the act of standing is not itself the act of worship. We do this in obedience to the scriptures that plainly say that God does not share his worship with images representing anything in the sky, on the ground, or in the sea. (See Exodus 20:4) That prohibition was repeated again upon Christians as well. (1 Corinthians 10:14; 1 John 5:21)

Jehovah's Witnesses do not pledge their allegiance to the flag of any country nor sing the National Anthem. Jehovah's Witnesses also do not join the armed forces or go to war.

How many baptized Jehovah's Witnesses are there?

There are over 7 million active Jehovah's Witnesses in about 236 countries around the earth in over 400 languages. That number reflects only those who are actively engaged in the door-to-door ministry that we are well known for. This does not count those who have become inactive, nor unbaptised children of JW's who are not approved by the congregation to engage in the minstry, nor does it count those who are interested but are simply meeting attenders.

How do Jewish people feel about Jehovah's Witnesses?

Answer 1

Unless there is some pressing reason, we don't comment upon how non-Jews worship or what they believe; and nor do we proselytize.

Answer 2

Jews do not see Jehovah's Witnesses in any way different than they see Christians in general, which is that Christians are entirely entitled to their religion and way of life - it just is not the Jewish way. However, since Jehovah's Witnesses proselytize more openly, especially in Jewish areas, Jews have a slightly negative view towards them on account of the proselytizing. If Jehovah's Witnesses did not proselytize to Jews, Jews would have no opinion of them for or against.

When was Congregation of Jehovah's Presbytery of Zion created?

Congregation of Jehovah's Presbytery of Zion was created in 1848.

What sacred book do Jehovah's Witnesses use?

The plain and simple to this question is that Jehovah's Witnesses use the Bible, any translation of it to be exact. While many Jehovah's Witnesses do prefer the New World Translation of The Holy Scriptures they are ready and willing to use ANY translation of the Bible.

In fact as a worldwide organization, many of Jehovah's Witnesses do not have the New World Translation available in their language and hence have no choice but to use another translation. This poses no problem for Jehovah's Witnesses since most Bibles are basically the same.

Contrary to what has been stated in other s Jehovah's Witnesses have not changed the New World Translation to fit their theology. They have simply searched for the most accurate understanding of the original texts. At times what they have found has disagreed with the theology and traditions of other religions while agreeing with what many other religions, theologians and archeologists have found.

They seem to take this responsibility pretty seriously from what I have seen and have even made many corrections in understandings of the scriptures when necessary, even if it means having a little egg on their face according to some.

The Jehovah's Witnesses use a bible which is altered according to their theology. It is called the New World Translation however it is not a translation in the places where they have altered it to agree with their theology. Thus it is not the Bible referred to by Christians when they speak of the Bible. I am not saying this as a personal attack of any kind but as a simple matter of fact.

Jehovah's Witnesses use the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures. It is rendered from the Original Languages of the bible. The foreward reads this way: "It is a very responsible thing to translate the Holy Scriptures from their original languages of Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek into mdern speech. Translating the Holy Scriptures means rendering into another language the thoughts and sayings of Jehovah God, the heavenly Author of this sacred library of sixty-six books that holy men of long ago were inspired to write down for our benefit. "That is a very sobering thought. The translators of this work, who fear and love the Divine Author of the Holy Scriptures, feel toward Him a special responsibility to transmit his thoughts and declarations as accurately as possible. They also feel a responsibility toward the searching readers who deend upon a translation of the inspired Word of the Most High God for their everlasting salvation. "It was with such a sense of solemn responsiblity that over the course of many years this committee of dedicated men have produced the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures. The entire work was originally released in six voumes, from 1950 to 1960. From the start it was the desire of the translators to have all these voumes brought together into one book, inasmuch as the Holy Scriptures are in actuality one book by the One author. While the original volumes contained marginal references and footnotes, the revised one-voume edition, released in 1961, contained neither footnotes nore marginal references. A second revision was realeased in 1970, and a third revision with footnotes follwed in 1971. In 1969 the committe released the Kingdom Interlinear Translation of the Greek Scriptures, which presented under the Greek text published in 1881 by Westcott and Hort a literal word-for-word translation into English. "This new edition is not just a refinement of the translated text beyond its already previous revisions, but it has been expanded to inclued a complete updating and revision of the marginal (cross) references taht were initially presened in English, from 1950 to 1960. "This 1984 revision has been released by us to the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania for printing, translation into other leading languages and distribution. We thus make it available with a deep sense of gratitude to the Divine Author of the Holy Scriptures, who has so privilaged us and in whose spirit we have trusted in producing this revision. We pray for his blessing upon those who use this translation for spiritual advancement. "Signed: New World Bible Translation Committee, June 1, 1984, New York, N.Y."

ALSO:

I am an Adventist and I was given a New World Translation Bible for Christmas a few years ago. As I was doing Bible studies with my Pastor, we would ALWAYS come across mis-translations in this version of the Bible. It does not always coincide with the original Greek text as mentioned above in a different . I do like this version only because its easy to read.

: I am a Christian who was converted from Mormonism when 20 years old. So I have already had to abandon one set of beliefs, which I was taught were truth in order to accept what is genuine truth. The truth is not 'out there somewhere' it is plainly in front of us but we have to be willing to do the research and then have the honest, intellectual integrity to accept the truth. The Mormons had taught me that the Bible could not be trusted and had been corrupted, that is why the Book of Mormon superseded it but when I did the research I found that the Bible was a true document that had been meticulously transcribed and miraculously preserved. The dead sea scrolls pre-date Christ but show a 99.9% accuracy in preservation of old testament writings. There are over 5000 manuscripts and portions of manuscripts of the New testament that are dated to within 50-150 years of their actual beginning. This is astounding when compared to any other ancient literature such as the Iliad and Odyssey, writings of Plato, Socrates etc. regarding the JW New World Translation, it is translated from an obscure greek translation known as the Emphatic Diaglott, a two language polyglot translation, of the New Testament by Benjamin Wilson, first published in 1864. Benjamin Wilson was an oddity in his time who operated in fringe church's that were outside of mainstream Christian beliefs. His is the only greek translation which upholds the main JW doctrines of Jesus not being GOD. Charles Taze Russell purchased the copyright to the emphatic Diaglott in 1900and began publishing it through the Watchtower Society. It is an unreliable, corrupt translation that is being used by an unscrupulous organization to deceive and mislead its trusting members. Thank goodness for Google search engines.... Look it up yourself.

: Please do not just believe the negative s written by some of the obviously biased people here. Research for yourself and you will see the first given here is the most accurate. And by research I mean look everywhere including talking to and getting to know some of Jehovah's Witnesses for yourself. I have known many of them and found the first here to most accurately represent them and The New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures.

Who started Jehovah witnesses?

I will not bring upon u a long speech. lol. I will let you in on what many do not know. The Jews weren't the only ones who suffered under Hilter's harsh hand. But the Bible Students A.K.A Jehovah Witnesses. Many years after they adopted the JW name. During the concentration camps they wore a purple triangle on their clothing while the Jews bore the yellow star. They were thrown in the pit for two reasons alone, they didn't want to fight in the militia and they wouldn't stop preaching the word of God. Now that I let you in on something, do your research, it wouldn't be fair if I made it all easy. ;-)

Is Rebbie Jackson still one of Jehovah's witnesses?

Yes She is. In fact she has been regular Pioneering for almost 20 years. She is truly one of our dearest sister in the truth.

Are jehovahs witnesses baptized in the name of the father the son and holy spirit?

Simple answer yes by full immersion

Answer: Yes and like the answer before me it is by full immersion, it is similar to the way that Jesus was baptized, it is described at Matt. 3:13-17. Jesus was fully immersed under the water so we do the same.

ANSWER FROM ONE OF JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES...

It is full body immersion just like Jesus, it is a public showing to say that we are ready to leave our former life behind us and wish and want to serve Jehovah God for the rest of our life.

The full body immersion represents us giving up our old ways and old life, having our Sins washed clean and starting a new Spiritual life in the service of our God Jehovah (Not be be confused with being "Born again").

Do Jehovah's witnesses believe in purgatory?

No, they do not. Adventists believe that when someone dies, his body turns to dust from which he was created (Gen 2:7) and soul returns to God who gave it (same verse). That person will be resurrected on the day when God will judge him. Period between death and resurrection will be as a sleep to the person that died.

Do Jehovah's Witnesses support same-sex marriage?

No. Such marriages are not performed and anyone supporting them is shunned from our fellowship.

Another Answer:NO WAY, Hoe-zay.

Simply because Jehovah God, -- the Creator of Mankind, -- the Universal Sovereign, He has spoken about it, in his word, The Bible.

In the Bible, it's in the same catagory as: pre-marital sex; extra-marital sex; adultery, rape. Those things are not approved by Jehovah God; therefore his Witnesses do not condone it / permit it / nor wink at it with one eye half closed.

End of story.

--BUT-- we are not homophobic. We do not discriminate against any wrongdoers in our door-step ministry. We bring truth and comfort to everyone equally.

Jehovah God will judge mankind, as to whether they have done what he requires of mankind.

Who makes the medical decisions in a Jehovah's Witness family?

Watchtower 15th May 1991 p5.....At 1 Corinthians 11:3, the Bible says: "The head of every man is the Christ; in turn the head of a woman is the man; in turn the head of the Christ is God." If you are a husband, you have the God-given responsibility to be the principal decision-maker in your family. But this does not give any husband license to be oppressive or dictatorial.

Watchtower 1st Dec 1960 p717......According to the Bible, a wife is her husband's property, particularly in the case where a bride price is paid for her. That is why a married woman is Scripturally called "beulah," this word really meaning "owned" as a wife. The masculine form of this word is "baal," which even today in modern Israel is the Hebrew word for "husband." The title really means "owner, master, lord."

How many books are there in the Jehovah's Witness Bible?

Seventh-day Adventists do not have a personal Bible, they use the same Bible that all christians use.

What is the protocol for a Jehovah's Witness funeral?

A Jehovah's Witness funeral may take place at graveside, a funeral home, or at the Kingdom Hall. Ususally if the Kingdom Hall is used, the body will most likely not be present, as the viewing will likely be at the funeral home. A Witness funeral service at times may even occur after the burial or cremation has already taken place. A Jehovah's Witness funeral service is a simple occasion. It will not involve eulogies or rituals. If it takes place at a Kingdom Hall, it will begin with a song and prayer, followed by a simple Bible based talk that will usually last for 20 or 30 minutes. The talk will highlight what the beliefs of the deceased were, and what Bible promises for future life he or she hoped for. It will include some things about the life of the person and family members, and it may include final thoughts that the person themself left behind to share at the funeral. This is a solemn, dignified occasion, but not overly mournful. It will be an occasion of hope and reaffirmation of faith in the Bible's promise that dead ones will live again in the ressurection as promised by Jesus Christ. After the funeral talk, usually another song and prayer which will signal the end.

Answer: At times when one of Jehovah's Witnesses dies a funeral with or witout the body inside may be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses or funeral home. Other times there will be a cremation and on a later date a Memorial Service for the deceased. It all depends on the personal wishes of the family. As stated above, a talk will be given based solely on the Bible and what it teaches us about the condition of the dead, what the Bible based hope is for the dead and a brief eulogy of the life and memories of the deceased will be read.

What is the Jehovah's Witness position on second marriages?

Our position is in accord with the Bible's view that marriage is a permanent instition bound by God. There are two situations according to the scriptures where a married person would become free to remarry. One is the death of their spouse. The Bible states at Romans 7:2, 3: "A married woman is bound by law to her husband while he is alive; but if her husband dies, she is discharged from the law of her husband. So, then, while her husband is living, she would be styled an adulteress if she became another man's. But if her husband dies, she is free from his law, so that she is not an adulteress if she becomes another man's." So the death of a spouse would permit the surviving mate to remarry. This would of course, apply to husbands as well as wives. The other sitution would be in the event of sexual unfaithfulness on the part of one's mate. At Matthew 19:8, 9, Jesus said: " I say to you that whoever divorces his wife, except on the ground of fornication [extramarital intercourse], and marries another commits adultery.'" So fornication would allow for the innocent mate to divorce the guilty mate, and remarry someone else. This is the Bible's view, so this is the position of Jehovah's Witnesses regarding re-marriage.

Do Jehovah witness Kingdom hall qualify for 501C3 status?

I don't think anyone outside of the administration of JW's or the IRS could answer such a question. If you read over the requirements of 501C3 status, it outlines that it has to be a non-profit organization, not involved with any political activities such as lobbying for a certain political candidate or cause. Jehovah's Witnesses certainly meet those requirements. Whether JW's fall under this classification, or because of some other criteria fall under a different tax-exempt status, it would be unknown by parties outside of the two previously mentioned.

Need information on why the Jehovah witness say about when you die?

Jehovah's Witnesses believe what the Bible says about the condition of the dead, and what hope there is for those who have died.

First, what is the condition of the dead? The Bible says at Ecclesiastes 9:5,10 (KJ Version) "For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.

Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest."

The Bible says that those who have died, are not conscious of anything. They can't speak, feel, see, or do anything. They are dead. The Hebrew word that is translated "grave" in verse 10 that I quoted was "Sheol." This same word appeared 65 times in the original Hebrew language. The King James translators redered this word 31 times as "grave," 31 times as "hell," and 3 times as "pit." Knowing this it helps us to see that Sheol, hell and the grave are the same thing. So those who have died, have entered hell, which is simply the common grave. It is a place of inactivity, with no knowledge or consciousness. One instance where they translated the Hebrew word Sheol into the English word hell was at Psalms 16:10, where it speaks prophetically that Jesus would be in "hell" or Sheol, after he was put to death.

Later in the Greek portion of the Bible at Acts 2:27, the actual fullfillment of the prophecy of Psalms 16:10 is found, where it says that Jesus was in "hell", but not forgotten, that is, he was not there permanently. The Greek word redered "hell" by the King James translators was "hades." In all 10 places that hades appears, they translated it into the English word "hell." So sheol, hades, hell, grave, and pit all mean the same thing. A place of inactivity, unconsciousness, no feeling, no thought, no work, nothing.

That is why when Job was suffering, he prayed to go there. (Job 14:13- 'sheol redered as grave in the KJ) Job simply wanted to die to end his suffering, until such a time that God would resurrect him, or bring him back from sheol, the grave, or back to life.

When Jacob thought that his son Joseph was dead, he wanted to go down to sheol to where he thought his son was. (Genesis 37:35-'grave:KJ, sheol in the Hebrew texts') Did Jacob think that his son Joseph was in a firey torment in sheol? No, he thought his son was simply in the grave, and he wanted to die as well because of his grief for his son.

Jehovah's Witnesses view the scriptures as indicating that death is simply an unconscious state. Jesus compared it to sleep. (Mark 5:39) Jehovah's Witnesses recognize that the Bible indicates that after a person dies, all future life prospects now exist in the resurrection hope, made possible by the redeeming value of the sacrifice that Jesus gave. Jesus blood was poured out as a sacrifice to God, which serves as a legal basis upon which all those who excercise faith in him can have "everlasting life."(John 3:16) Jesus' resurrection was a guarantee that this is a real hope. Jehovah's Witnesses believe that we are all born under the condemnation of sin and death.(Romans 5:12)

Ezekiel 18:4 indicates that the soul that is sinning dies. That is why we all grow old, get sick, and die. But, there is a resurrection hope. (John 5:28,29) In the resurrection, people who have dies can live again under the arrangement of God's Kingdom. This is the kingdom that Jesus taught us to pray for at Matthew 6:9,10.

Can you give a Jehovah's Witness a New Year card?

Although they often love hearing from their loved ones, and rejoice in hearing their health is well, they do not participate in christmas celebrations, so it stands to reason, they would look at the card as a mere greeting, and most likely throw it away.

For more information contact your local Witnesses.
