But, Luke's Gospel says that their home town was Nazareth in Galilee.
What is the temperature now in Jerusalem?
Jerusalem weather in the winter is a bit less predictable than in the summer.
The wet season starts in November and goes through April.
Because Israel's water supply is so dependent on rainfall, Israelis hope, pray, beg the Heavens for winter rains.
A particularly torrential rain is know as "rains of blessing" in Hebrew, so you won't hear anyone grumble about a rainy day here - not even little children.
Most years, it doesn't rain nearly enough, though, so you can count on a good number of mild, sunny days in the winter, too. Nevertheless, make sure you bring waterproof boots and coats. Try to get a raincoat with a hood. It can be so windy when it rains that umbrellas are useless.
November through December are usually fairly mild.
January and February are the coldest months of the year and every few years Jerusalem is treated to a spectacular snowfall that turns the city into a still, fairy wonderland.
Average temperature in January: 6 to 12C (43-55F)
Average number of rain days in Jerusalem: 44
Average annual rainfall: 553mm/22 inches

Do Muslims worship at the dome of the rock?
The mosque itself resides on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. It's the distinctive
golden dome that's featured prominently in virtually every photograph that includes
the Old City of Jerusalem. As I write this, there's a beautiful photo of it displayed
right here, at the top of this web-page on Answers.com .
Why are only Muslims allowed to go to the dome of the rock?
The true answer is because both the Jordanian waqf and Israeli police do not want non-Muslims inside the Dome of the Rock.
The Jordanian waqf, not Palestinian officials, govern the Temple Mount. Israeli police provide security. The Waqf want only Muslims, because it is comfortable for them and they feel good about exercising power over others. They would be happiest with a situation akin to Mecca or Medina, where only Muslims are allowed to breathe the air.
The Israelis defer to the Waqf and do not want to risk World War 3 over some religious fanatic causing trouble.
The Israeli government is implicated in this utterly discriminatory policy. It is a true outrage.
