What if tabloid journalism replaced traditional journalism?

Currently, tabloid journalism has not completely replaced conventional journalism. However, the field of journalism is changing with the advent of new technologies. Blogging has become a way for some people to receive information about their community or other communities throughout the world, rather than watching the news or reading a newspaper (online or in print). Many newspapers offer online subscriptions, but there are articles online available for free. Google News offers internet users the ability to search hundreds of blogs and online newspapers for news items. Entertainment is becoming a bigger focus in journalism. The Today Show on NBC will include hard-hitting news stories from around the world; however, the hosts may also try various recipes or exercise with various experts. To gain an edge in reporting, one can try to report news in ways that are fun and interesting to the general public. Tabloid news is not news. The paparazzi provides information on public figures (a way to avoid slander-- balancing right to know with too much personal info is precarious. Often the paparazzi includes too much detail which infringes on the person's right to privacy). Hopefully, the public realizes the need for actual reporting, not details on a celebrity's supposed pregnancy. Journalism is a balancing act between reporting all important stories and being very depressing and light-hearted fluff pieces and not producing any new or relevant information.

What is bleed in the elements of newspaper?

Bleed is the amount of space you add around your page size so that when it's trimmed nothing is cut off. For example if your page was A4 you would have margins set within this for the information to be printed and your "bleed" would be the extra area around the A4 page, usually 3-5mm depending on individual Printer. Bleed is especially important if you have an image that needs to run off the page. If you do not over hang this image into the bleed area, when it is trimmed it could leave a thin white line around the edges.

hope this makes sense!

What was a result of yellow journalism in Atlanta?

A good example would be the Atlanta Race Riot of 1906. Here's how it went down.

The Civil War ended. Blacks and whites, who suprisingly lived peacefully together, now had to compete for jobs, creating tension.

In the gubernatorial election, two men Hoke Smith and Clark Howell, decided that the person who would win was the person who swung the black vote, so they both ran on a campaign for disenfranchisement of black persons.

Both men had connections with newspapers they previously worked for and began circulating stories that would incite white voters that would make them fear that blacks were causing social disorder and would take order away from whites.

Two other newspapers (Atlanta Georgian and the Atlanta News) were competing for circulation so they jumped in on the action.

On September 22, 1906 these newspapers reported four assaults on white women. This didn't go over well for the innocent black community.

Over 10,000 white mob members gathered and began stabbing, beating, kicking, etc. innocent black persons because of this. 25-40 black people died compared to two white deaths. This eventually lead to significant social changes in the law.
