Does the 38 Parallel still exist in Korea today?
Yes it does. Like the Equator and North Pole, it is a position on the earth and would be hard to erase. The line was originally the dividing line between North and South Korea following the second world war based on an agreement between the USSR and USA. The armistice which brought the war (1950-53) to an end was formed on the font line. The respective forces pulled back some 2km either side to create a DMZ (De Militarised Zone). The DMZ runs roughly along the 38th parallel but starts slightly south of it and runs north of it across the country. Kaesong was the only significant city to change starting off in the South and ending up in the North.

Why did the KKK do what they did?
The KKK allegedly engaged in acts of killing and violence in order to intimidate African-Americans out of exercising the legal rights granted to them during Reconstruction. It disbanded when its leaders were convinced that it had achieved its goals, but it was later re-established. Nowadays, it still exists as a number of disconnected, if not opposing, splinter groups, some of which may even contain some of the very people they tend to oppose. The few remaining Klan chapters tend to each call themselves a part of the "true Klan," all while accusing members of other Klan chapters of being gay, Jewish, or in physical relations with African-Americans.
What many don't realize is that there is currently no centralized Klan and that ANYONE can adopt that name, including those who oppose or who have infiltrated the movement.

What was the mission of ku klux klan?
To use the terminology of the times, meaning the years immediately after it's beginnings, the Klan's goal was to terrorize freed Blacks, prevent them from voting, and burn their churches. And to form lynching crews. The Klan also targeted any "White sympathizers", who tried to help Freed Blacks. Klan activity was based in the South. Later on, the Klan still existed, and the term Afro-Americans is best used to describe their main targets. The activities of the modern day Klan, up to about the early 1960's, was in line with past activities. Afro-American churches were burned, burning crosses were placed on the properties owned by Southern Afro-Americans.

None whatsoever. The Knights Of Columbus are a Catholic public service organization, and entirely above board. The KKK was functionally a terrorist group that in fact persecuted Catholics.

Update: There IS a connection between the two groups: in the 1920s the Knights of Columbus actively worked AGAINST the KKK in Oklahoma, who, as stated above, had a history of persecuting American Catholics.

Why did the KKK hate blacks and so many different religious groups?
They were a bigoted ignorant bunch of thugs who were supposed to be so called "christians" and thought that only white protestants were worthy people! thank goodness we now know enough to squash them like bugs when they raise their ugly little pointed heads!
They were bullies who lived in fear of losing control of their towns, churches, laws, courts, schools, the government, African Americans, and any other group that was different. They used murder and terror to maintain their control but they lost in the end.
Why was KKK a failure during reconstruction?
Because slavery was still a problem and still wanted slavery for what it was back then and did not accept defeat in the civil war.
During Reconstruction, the Ku Klux Klan and the White League primarily supported the Democratic Party. These groups aimed to undermine Republican efforts to extend civil rights to African Americans and restore white supremacy in the South. Their violent tactics were used to intimidate voters and suppress the Republican Party, which was associated with Reconstruction and African American rights.
