How are Kung Fu and karate different?
All of the styles listed are types of martial arts.
Kung Fu originated in China. Legend says it was based on the martial arts of India.
Karate was created by merging Kung Fu and Okinawan Wrestling. It is predominantly a striking art.
Tae Kwon Do was created by merging Karate and Korean martial arts. It is predominantly a striking art.
Judo is a Japanese grappling art that was created as a sport from the martial art of JuJitsu.
First, to clarify, the modern "Kung Fu" (an term for all Chinese martial arts) began in the Ming Dynasty (1368 AD-1644 AD); and Chinese historical writings regard Equitation (skill with horses) and Archery as "Kung Fu".
Chinese historians believe that "Kung Fu" began as tools for survival such as hunting and war with different tribes. The earliest mention of a distinct style of hand-to-hand combat was around 2700 B.C. where a fighting technique called "Jiao Li" (角力), where the practitioner uses horned helmets to gore enemies to death. "Jiao Li" was a grappling form with strikes, blocks, and joint locks later added to it to form "Shuai Jiao" (摔跤), which is translated into Chinese Wrestling. "Jiao Li" was developed during the Zhou Dynasty (1045 BC-256 BC), and became an official part of the Zhou military training program. "Shuai Jiao" was used by the Qin army and became a sport under the Qin Dynasty (221 BC-206BC).
During the "Spring and Autumn Period" (770 BC-746 BC), swordsmanship became wide spread, many of Confucius's students were described to be skilled swordsman. During this time period, punching techniques, called Boxing in modern terms, also improved a great deal.
During the Qin Dynasty, as mentioned before, strikes, blocks, and joint locks were added to "Jiao Li" to form "Shuai Jiao". Immediately after the Qin Dynasty, during the Han Dynasty (206 BC- 220 AD) many "Kung Fu" manuals were written, describing hand-to-hand unarmed combat techniques of the time, showing a vast increment of techniques from before the Han Dynasty. Toward the Han Dynasty, passages from books describe methods for an unarmed combatant to disarm an armed opponent. These records show that the basis for Chinese "Boxing" and its philosophy: <Far use feet to kick, Close use hand to punch, Next to body use joint locks and throws>.
Han Dynasty also saw rise to weapons "Kung Fu", where sword, dao (saber), dagger-axe, and sword-shield combination techniques.

Where does the word Kung Fu mean?
The rough translation is "skill so refined and perfected, it has become an artform." Take something as mundane as typing; if you can type 450 words per minute without a single mistake, and maintain that pace, then, you have turned typing into an art, you are Picaso with a keyboard. THAT, is "Kung Fu." The term "Kung Fu," even in China, has become widely used to refer to martial arts, although the traditional Chinese term is "Wushu." In the movies, when one character says to another "you have good Kung Fu," one character was saying to another "wow, you worked so hard, you are not merely just skillful; you sir are an ARTIST." However even Chinese audiences were ignorant of the concept of Kung Fu because, see, the idea of "perfection through effort" was restricted largely in philosophical and scholarly circles, and given China's history of oppression, tyranny and poverty, for generations the Chinese public was uneducated and ignorant until the cultural revolution.
What are some acrobatic Kung Fu Moves?
There are no tricks in karate. It is hard work and practice under a knowledgeable instructor.
What is the most powerful Kung Fu style?
Ultimately, with any fighting style it ultimately boils down to the practitioner's own willpower, intellect, and work ethic, tragically REGARDLESS of character. In martial arts fiction, who do you think it was inspired the villains? Its possible even for a very bad man, to have an exceptionally strong will, always a dangerous situation. Whole reason why martial arts "super powers" are considered a myth, is because to achieve the kind of things you see in anime, video games, and high production values special effects driven movies, the power of your will has to be match well, the power you want. The more personal power you want, the stronger your will needs to be. As a general rule considered myth because of the idea that NOBODY, is that strong-willed.
In Japanese video games the reason you see the word "will" so much, is drawn from their culture and folklore. Namely legendary, well, ninja and samurai, whose will became so strong, they achieved superhuman powers. Basically with every fictional character you see in games, the developers assume they are that strong because of a strong will. Ultimately, in the real world, the strength of a martial arts style really depends on how it develops you, the individual. How well it helps you cultivate, and strengthen willpower.
In the end though without the ability to hold the difficult Ma Bu stance
For at least 2 hours, without pain mind, mastery of any kung fu style or any east asian style is impossible. REAL mastery; given modern life, schooling, work, how money and technology driven modern life is, very few people have the discipline to set aside 2 hours to hold that position. If you MUST know which FAMILY of styles is considered the most powerful in China, it would be the neijia, or "internal" styles, of which Tai Chi Chuan is a part. Tough to swallow I know, that all those slow motion movements, sometimes absolutely no movement at all can grant "ultimate martial arts power" but in China its conisdered true. Still though the direction of the energy they call "chi" is will-driven. Without a strong will, training in any kung fu style is useless, ANY fighting style really.
However if we are going to get into an "all things being equal" thing, one guy knows Kung Fu, the other guy does MMA, the strength of their will is the same, Kung Fu guy will win believe it or not. The vast majority of traditional practitioners the MMA world has encountered have been, overwhelmingly weak-willed individuals. MMA fighters haven't exactly been in there with Shaolin monks
also don't listen to the moron who posted this thing. At precisely 24 seconds you can see the monk's hands, are not moving with choreographed precision. He just kind of, waves his hands, but does not block the kicks with exacting precision. Not wanting to nitpick but both practitioners make several mistakes, they get sloppy in places, although I'm sure an expert would be better able to see it. If you show this video to a 10th dan they will confirm with their expert eyes, this video is NOT choroegraphed. Call it racist western nay saying; the a-hole who posted the video likes to think, western made MMA is indestructible. Let them ride the ego train; doesn't make it true.
Still though, not denying the point, that assuming an MMA guy was capable, that if THEY held Mabu for 4 hours THEY would probably be really tough themselves. Think man, Shaolin training combined with Mixed Martial Arts? Gives ME the goosebumps. Again though in most circles "ultimate power" is chalked up to superstition, and if you happen to believe that stuff best keep it to yourself. But what if you really DO learn how to fly, like superman? STILL, keep it to yourself. Seriously man you run around publicly talking abou chi energy and ultimate martial arts super powers its a quick trip to the looney bin. Although in this era of internet weirdos, people tolerate crazyness more. Anyway to more directly answer your question nobody really knows, but in China, it is generally considered to be the internal, meditative martial arts, such as Tai Chi Chuan.
The name of a Kung Fu movie where a man fights with his hair?
I'm assuming you are referring to a person having a shaved forehead and a braided ponytail. This is known as a "queue" (ch: bianzi, 辫子), and it was a sign of subjugation that was forced on the Chinese by the Manchus when they conquered China in the 17th-century.
What is the difference between kung fu and shaolin kung fu?
Shaolin Kempo is a combination of Kong- fu Karate, and jujitsu. The fighting styles include 5 animals: Crane, Dragon, Leopard, Snake, and Tiger. There is a unique belt system in the order of: white, Yellow, Orange, Purple, Blue, Blue w/green stripe, Green, Green w/ brown stripe, Brown, 1st degree Brown, 2nd degree Brown, 3rd degree Brown, and Black. Black also has degrees but I am not sure how much. in order to get each belt you must pass a test on a review of all of your techniques. this test will test your physical and mental ability. There is not many places in the united states that teach it but there is a few in Illinois and Kentucky. I go to a studio in Rockford Illinois and it is great.
Is everybody Kung Fu fighting?
Kung Fu Fighting Lyrics by Carl Douglas
Everybody was kung-fu fighting
Those cats were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit frightening
But they fought with expert timing
They were funky China men from funky Chinatown
They were chopping them up and they were chopping them down
It's an ancient Chinese art and everybody knew their part
From a feint into a slip, and kicking from the hip
Everybody was kung-fu fighting
Those cats were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit frightening
But they fought with expert timing
There was funky Billy Chin and little Sammy Chung
He said here comes the big boys, lets get it on
We took a bow and made a stand, started swinging with the hand
The sudden motion made me skip now we're into a brand new trip
Everybody was kung-fu fighting
Those cats were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit frightening
But they did it with expert timing
(repeat)..make sure you have expert timing
Kung-fu fighting, had to be fast as lightning

What are facts about Shaolin Monks?
1. They first began to practice military weapons sometime prior to the 7th century in an attempt to protect their monastery's treasures from mountain bandits.
2. They became famous when they aided Li Shimin in defeating his enemies, which allowed his family to found the Tang Dynasty (618-907).
3. During the anti-Buddhist pogroms of 845, the Emperor Wuzong left Shaolin alone because of their past service to his family.
4. They were defeated by Red Turban bandits during the Yuan dynasty (1279-1368), which caused them to create a legend to hide this fact. The legend states that their patron deity Vajrapani defeated the bandits and passed on his knowledge of pole fighting to the monks.
5. They helped the Ming emperors combat Japanese pirates causing havoc on the eastern coast of China.
6. They did not begin to practice boxing until the Ming to Qing Dynasty transition. This is when they also combined Daoist breathing and stretching exercises (qigong) with boxing to create a new form of spiritual enlightenment.
7. The monks chose the wrong side in a political dispute between the men who filled the power vacuum left by the fall of the Qing Dynasty. This lead to the monastery being burnt in 1928.

What is difference between Kung Fu and wushu?
Karate is Japanese and kung fu is Chinese. Both karate and kung fu have different styles, and they may be quite different. Karate has part of its origins in Chinese Kung Fu.
Karate is Japanese, and kung fu is Chinese. There are different styles of both karate and kung fu.
One of the influences in karate is the White Crane style of kung fu.
No, they are not the same. Karate is a blend of kung fu and Okinawa wrestling and became a separate martial art.
Kung Fu originated in China. Karate was created with a merging of kung fu and Okinawa wrestling.
Kung fu, which is Chinese, features circular movements, as well as pressure point techniques and styles based around the movements of animals. Karate, on the other hand, and uses more linear techniques designed to finish a fight with one blow.
Cultural issues and the often-contentious history between China and Japan are also wrapped up in the two terms.
To amateurs and movie goers, the two martial arts are seen as being the same, but someone with a bit of understanding can easily differentiate the two.
The 2010 remake of The Karate Kid acknowledges the differences the mother asks the kid if he likes his karate class, his response: "It's not karate, Mom."
Which is much stronger Kung Fu master or karate master?
This question is as touchy as religion. Almost all martial artists say that their style is the best. This is a question that you will have to determine for yourself as I am sure you will get many answers. Karate is stronger in that whether it be Kempo, Shitoru, or whatever they all focus on muscling and overpowering your opponent. Quite simply in this theory the bigger stronger individual will always emerge the victor. Kung Fu as well has many styles that teach many things. There are hard styles but the more renowned styles focus on soft techniques. For example Shaolin kung fu has a good balance of hard and soft styles as well as focusing on internal and external martial arts. Yet, most of its movements are designed to be pretty and/or mimic animal movements which uses a lot of energy that is really wasted when quite simply a straight punch to the nose would have as much or more affect with minimal energy. Wing Chun, or also popularly known as Wing Tsun, is a chinese Kung Fu style that employs this exact principle. It combines defense and attack in that you never have to muscle you opponent and use their energy and momentum against them. It was actually designed by a woman and is very easy for women or men to learn from. It is widely referred to as the most superior martial art in the world, and it is very effective. However in actuality no kung fu style is superior to another, because it depends on the individual. In the words of Grandmaster Yip Man "Good Kung Fu doesn't depend on age or sex, nor is it about styles, it's on you."
But to answer your question more directly from my own research Kung Fu kicks Karate's butt. :)
