What is the first secretions from the breast after a woman gives birth?
It is called Colostrum, very nutrient rich for the baby. Let the babynurse and your milk will come in really well!
What can breast milk supply that other milk can't?
WOW! There are hundreds of nutrients in breast milk that cannot be exactly duplicated in formulas. Obviously, if you are unable to produce breast milk for your child, formula can be an acceptable substitute. However, your child will still be missing many nutrients, enzymes, etc. that don't make it into a man made substitute - many hospitals even have a breast milk bank where they store breast milk for sick and premature babies from verified safe sources because of these differences! This is why pediatricians and physicians tell you that breastfeeding is BEST for your child (and for the mother). All formulas are a substitute made from animal or vegetable bases, with man-made vitamins and enzymes - think of how many things lately we have discovered are not as safe as we had been led to believe for years. Now imagine putting all that into your child when your body will usually provide the perfect nutrients - for free - no additives, no preservatives, and NO heating required! Whether you believe we evolved or were created, this is what the mother's body is designed to do - provide the perfect nutrition for her offspring in order to ensure survival of the species!
As long as you breast feed will you produce milk?
Not long; the body will stop producing milk (lactating) if the breasts are not being used to nurse or pump milk.
Can you leak breast milk at the beginning of pregnancy?
Now I'm 22 and 15 weeks' pregnant with my first babe. I've never had the discharge since they treated the tumor. Don't worry (I could be wrong!) but ask your OB/Gyn about it; he or she can check your blood for the levels or get you a painless MRI (similar to Cat scan). Squeezing your breast causes it to keep producing more, so try not to.
You should go to your doctor and ask for a blood test to see if you are pregnant or not. Maybe you are pregnant and your hcg is low that's why the hpt tells you negative results.
Why is there no milk in a breast?
If your breast are full and will not release the milk, or "let down", it generally means you are engorged. A technique for alleviating the buildup of pressure from engorged breasts it to alternate between hot and cold compresses. Many women also find a hot shower with gentle manipulation can help to start the flow of milk. The key to preventing engorgement is not allowing too much time to pass in between feedings or pumping.
Can you breast feed after a breast implant?
One can breast feed after a previous history of breast augmentation (breast implant.) However, there has been studies showing that lactation insufficiency (difficulty breast feeding) may result after the placement of a breast implant. This is dependent on the type of incision your plastic surgeon uses.
How can I intentionally conceive while breastfeeding?
Although the chnces of conceiving while breastfeeding are slim it is still possible. Breastfeeding will only act as a contraceptive if you are exclusively feeding an infant under 6 months old at least every 6 hours and not having periods.
I would suggest if you want to get pregnant and the child you are breastfeeding is still under 6 months and only having breastmilk then express a few bottles in the morning and use these throughout the day instead. Periods should return to normal and you will be able to conceive again. If this is not an option then wait until the child is also eating solid food and feeding less.
What is the difference between formula milk and breast milk?
Don't forget about the importance of the bonding occurring between mother and child while breastfeeding. This closeness is almost as important as the the nutritional value of breastmilk. It is far better to have your child bond with you than with a plastic bottle. Also, don't discount the health benefits to the mother when she nurses. Weight loss, faster recuperation from pregnancy, and breast cancer prevention to name just a few benefits.
Can smoking marijuana cause baby harm while breastfeeding?
No. It has no destructive properties and no negative effects.
Another Answer:
"If you smoke marijuana and breastfeed, the active chemical in marijuana is passed to your baby through your milk. For this reason, most experts, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, advise nursing moms to abstain from marijuana while breastfeeding."
There are also concerns that a mother's judgement and ability to take care of her baby may also be affected.

Is an adult breastfeeding possible?
Yes, an adult can drink breast milk. But remember that HIV can be passed through breast milk, so drinking a stranger milk can be risky. (Women who donate to milk banks have blood tests first, to check for diseases that pass through breast milk.) Some medications also pass through to the milk. Milks taste depends mostly on what your partner has eaten overnight. The taste can be changed accordingly by eating things like strawberries, grapes, apple, pineapple etc. The flavour of breast milk depends on what you eat. I remember when i first latched on to my girlfriend's breast it tasted like chicken. I asked her if she had eaten chicken the day before. And amazingly she said yes. Next time i latched on she had some mixed fruit drink before coming. Trust me i had emptied her breasts completely. It tasted so sweet. I have stopped drinking any cows milk. I ask my girlfriend to have good diet so that i can enjoy breast milk everyday. She is comfortable about it. Trust me ever since drinking her milk i am totally disease free. It helps bring closeness between partners. The National Society of Nursing Couples has close to 10,000 members. You can find out more by searching for ANR, adult nursing relationship

How long should you wait after taking Oxycontin and breastfeeding?
If you are taking Oxycontin while breastfeeding you are giving the baby the drug as well. First thing you have to keep in mind, Oxycontin is a drug that is time released, therefore meaning it stays in your system for a longer period of time so it can slowly release the drug into your system. It will actually stay in your body for 4-5 days. It Will also vary on how you do it, take it normally (the way you are suppose too) chew it, snort it, inject it etc...
The pain killing ingredient in Oxycontin is Oxycodone. Percocet has 5mg of Oxycondone in it and the Oxycontin has the same amount of Oxycodone as the amount of mg's Oxy's you are taking e.g. 20mg Oxy= 20mg of Oxyxodone, 40's = 40mg and so on...
From my research in total I would suggest NOT taking Oxycontin at all while breast feeding. However i did find ONE research companies that states the following"
Oxycodone is excreted into human breast milk. Six healthy postpartum women received a combination product of oxycodone and acetaminophen, one or two capsules every 47 hours, while breast-feeding their newborn infants (4). Maternal plasma levels were in the expected range of 14 to 35 ng/mL, and milk concentrations ranged from <5 to 226 ng/mL. Peak milk concentrations occurred 1.52.0 hours after the first dose, then at variable times after multiple doses. Although a large degree of variability was present, the mean milk:plasma ratio was 3.4:1. No mention was made of any effects observed in the nursing infants.
Although occasional maternal doses of oxycodone for analgesia probably present a minimal risk for adverse effects during nursing, infants should be monitored for gastrointestinal effects, sedation, and changes in feeding patterns."
I am not a doctor but I can say this, I have been on Oxycontin for many years for major back problems and my wife had to start taking them for pain due to Fybromialsia and had no choice but to take them during her pregnancy. They are VERY EASY to get addicted too. Needless to say my son was born with an addiction and even though my wife could not breast feed, she was told by nurses and doctors NOT to breast feed while taking this sort of medication. You can give the baby a dependence on the Oxycodone and once you stop breast feeding your baby will need the drugs or will go into withdrawals and in worst case scenario could die.
Well I hope my answer has helped some people. In closing I would like to say, if there is any way you could deal with your pain with some other type of medication I would suggest using something else besides Oxycontin, it is highly addictive. You may at first get a bit of a buzz (for a lack of better word) but once you are addicted the buzz feeling goes away but you still will need to have them or you will get MAJOR withdrawals.
Does breastfeeding make your breasts bigger?
Breast Actives claims to increase breast size, but independent evidence is hard to find.
When does milk stop coming out of breast?
Breastmilk leaks for a number of reasons. 1. The breast is too full to store anymore. 2. as an automatic response which triggers the letdown reflex, which can either be the sound of a baby crying, or actually seeing a baby. This is natures way of basically saying that the breast either needs emptying, or that you have a underlying want to breastfeed a baby,.. in some cases any baby really as the entire practice of breastfeeding back in primal times usually had more then 1 mother involved, by this i mean that multiple women would breastfeed each others children. As time goes on your breasts will begin to dry up and leakage will begin to stop. This amount of time differs among women.
Will I be able to breast-feed my baby?
There are certainly valid medical reasons why a mother who is capable of doing so should do so, in general.
However, in specific cases, there may be even more compelling medical reasons why she should not.
The best course is to listen to your physician's advice (and not to that of your wacko relative, friend, neighbor or co-worker with an axe to grind on the subject one way or the other).
How much milk women breast produce?
Yes and no. generally when a large breasted woman is coming into her milk, she may have more milk then a woman with small breasts, who is also coming into her milk. This generally settles down when feeding schedules have been more established and the milk production has settled into the supply and demand routine. There will only be as much milk as is needed in the breasts due to the entire concept of supply and demand, So if a heavy demand is placed on the breasts, then bigger breasts may have more milk in them then small breasts, but this is overly dependent, as i said, on the demand. A woman with twins, for instance, will produce more milk then a woman with only one baby, and this is between women with the same sized breasts. The more milk taken from the breast during a feeding, the faster it will be produced to replenish it. So the real answer is, Yes, but commonly, No. No. Not at all. I have fairly small breasts and have always produced an over-abundance of milk. I know plenty of large-breasted women who struggle with milk production.
