Why year 7 and 8 should not do homework every school night?

Because you want to flunk out of school and be dumb - that's the only reason for not wanting to learn more and make better grades.

Why did I not complete my homework?

There are several possible reasons why you are not able to complete your homework.

1. You could have a time management issue. If you find some of the work is too difficult, you should start with the easiest stuff. If you are going to fail a task, you don't want to take up time that could be spent doing the homework you can do.

2. You could have the wrong set of priorities. Sure, playing video games and socializing with friends are fun, but if you have a lot of homework, you should postpone your fun.

3. You might not understand the homework. In that case, you should seek outside assistance. Maybe call the teacher if they are available. If not, talk to your parents. Or find a homework help service or a tutor.

4. You may be a procrastinator. For some people, they have their most energy when they put off things to the last minute. The problem with that approach is that you won't leave enough time for thorough research, and you may get sloppy and make mistakes. Part of what causes procrastination is boredom (you don't like the material), and part is fear. You may keep putting it off out of fear or dislike until the time pressure forces you to do it.

What is the best way to study for math finals?

well personally i find it very useful to do loads of past papers and questions, it sounds rubbish but it will help, you can't learn a technique, you have to understand it.. maths is like that.

+++

Don't demean your own answer! It is not rubbish. That is a very good way to practice mathematics, and the more techniques or mathematical fields you can have in each question (within reason) the better. I agree you cannot learn maths unless you can understand it. Rote learning of individual calculation steps will fail you once you rise above basic arithmetic and algebra. That was always my problem!

Why do kids like homework?

Well, I think kids get a lot of homework so when they bring it to their teacher, that teacher can see if they're struggling in one arrea or if they are in another. Then, when conferences finally come by, then they can discus what the child needs to work on, and hopfully, the parents will work with their child so he / she does well in school, gets a good jobs, earns alot of money, and take awesome vacations every year and are able to afford nice things such as a laptop.

How do you get good grades in fourth grade?

What you need to do is practice whatever you're practicing. If you think you have memorized it, have someone at home test you.But usually, just write it down 3 times each and say it three times each. This will make you memorize it.

Why are laptops useful to do homework?

This can be a little tricky, as some kids are really good hackers and could cheat at their work, but in general it's easier to turn in your homework via email or a computer program. It saves on waste paper and it's usually a little easier to spot a cheater because they'll just cut and paste the answer over and over.

What is considered an A plus on a test?

This really depends on the local grading system. In some systems, there is no A+ grade. In some systems, the only way to get an A+ is to get more than 100%. In some systems, an A+ is 99% or 100%. No matter what, an A+ grade would be exceptionally high and very difficult to attain.

Why should students study hard?

Its the key to success because it pays off in the future because you will know all the skills and knowledge.A boxer used to say that I went to training a day and I was very tired but then I thought my opponent will be training so I stood up and trained for 5 hours straight it was that hard work that became the key to my success.

How do i get help with my science homework?

Science can be a hard class. Here are some tips to help you with your studies.

  • Focus in - science includes everything about the universe! Pick one area, like living things, rocks and minerals, stars and planets -- then study that one thing until you understand it. You can move on to other sciences also!
  • If you have a class with a lot of different kinds of science, you'll just need to take really good notes and do all the homework - see the Related Questions for more help with notes and homework.
  • Do the practice work - science is studying the universe, so to really understand it, you're going to have to study -- look at the world around you, watch and listen to what's going on, wonder about things and ask questions, do experiments to see what happens, and look up facts about things.
  • Get a tutor if you're having trouble! Science and Math have a lot of things you just have to practice until you get right, and a tutor can really help you get things down pat!

Science should be studied like anything else to start with - memorize the terms and definitions, take good notes, and learn how things work. One part of science that is more similar to math is to be sure you work out the problems and do the experiments so that you will really understand what is going on. Science is based on facts learned from experiment - what we understand depends on what we can study, and science is always changing as our ability to study the world increases. Look at your notes and write them down so you know them in your head.
There is no easy way to learn science, but you can gain a great understanding of science and learn a lot about history and application of science if you read a wonderful book "A Short History of Nearly Everything" by Bill Bryson. It is written for someone who is not a scientist (Bryson writes travel books) for people who find science tedious or hard to comprehend. As a result, it is a light read with lots of humor and entertaining tidbits about science and scientists. There is an Audiobook edition (my favorite) and an illustrated edition, which is a lot of fun.
it depends how you view science. me i see it as a puzzle so i just need to assemble everything and my work is done. the best thing to do is to try and relate almost every thing to your daily activities. try to relate it to things which interest you. if you want learn definitions in tunes of music. learn patters in a sentence which you will never forget.
The Best Way to Study:

· Set a specific time each day to work on your homework and studying. Treat it like a job, and just go do it.

· Keep good notes -- see the Related Questions if you need help with that. Your notes are the best thing to study.

· Read over the textbook -- just look at the bold headings and see if you can explain to yourself what information each one explains.

· Turn each heading in your notes (or textbook) into a question and see if you can answer it.

· Make a Study Deck -- see the Related Question to see how!

Is homework helpful or harmful?

Homework helps us a lot to give us a better education. Math problems help reinforce the lessons taught. Reports and assignments allow you to dig into specific areas. Reading assignments help give you an idea of what things you will be covering next.

Imagine what kind of job you would get if you don't have an education!

Why do we need homework?

Homework is provided to encourage you to study and to continue learning at home.

What are some good tips for passing national exams like SAT or ACT or TOEFL?

for me, the hardest part is the time constriction. I've taken it twice and the first time, if i couldn't get the answer right away, i'd try for a little while longer to see if i could get it; but if you try just a little while longer on a lot of questions, it all adds up, so i didn't finish any of the sections. the second time, if i couldn't get the answer right away, i would circle that number to go back to it if i had time at the end. that worked a lot better because i finished a lot more and even had time to go back at the end to try to figure out the ones i had skipped. hope that helps. and if anyone else has any other advice, i'd love to know for the third time i take it

How much has homework increased or decreased?

In the past, many children didn't even go to school - they went to work in a factory or other job (yes, even 6-10 year olds!). After the Industrial Revolution, people decided that kids needed to be educated, and started more schools for them instead of making them work so hard. They did most of the work in the school just because paper was so expensive. Each child would have a slate, or small chalkboard, that they could take home and work out problems on. What you think of as "modern" homework started around the turn of the century as schools became more of what you're familiar with.

How can homework affect your health?

I am an AP student who gets somewhere from 2 to 6.5 hours of sleep each night during the school week. With school, homework, and familial obligations, it can't always be helped. Sit in a hard-backed chair with your books on a table in front of you. Keep the TV on to a show that is amusing, but you don't have to watch. Keep it on low, so it is not too distracting, but provides noise. (Try an old comedy or a late-night show. You don't watch it like you would a drama and they tend to be loud. Steer clear of music. It tends to be more distracting.) Make a strong pot of coffee. Eat some healthy, crunchy snacks. If you are losing focus, do a few push-ups or move to a new location. This will both increase your blood-flow and change your perspective. Create a to-do list and dedicate yourself to one task at a time.

It takes a while to get used to this, but it is possible. In 8th grade, 11:00 was late for me. Last year, my first AP class got me used to about 1:00 AM. Now, I can make myself do just about anything. Do watch out for your health, and always try to catch up on sleep whenever you can (weekends, especially breaks and snow days). Managing your sleep and learning how to put up with a lack of it is a valuable life skill for high school, college, and career.

One last tip: Find out if you are a night owl or a morning person. For some, it is easier to stay up late and for others it is best to get up early.

  • If you are studying hard, your not studying in the most beneficial way. Use good time-management skills and make sure you keep up with your work. When you study, make sure it is in a place with the least amount of distraction. Do not study hours on end. Study for about 30 to 45 minutes and then take a break (five or ten minutes), then go back to the study. This tends to unblock and renew the mind. Remember to reflect on what you have studied (think about it from time to time). The main thing is to stay relaxed yet focused and above all, do not procrastinate so that you fall behind and then have to catch up in a panic!
  • You are going to take a quiz? Do you mean you want some advice on studying before a quiz or something? I think for test what we should do is to work and study harder. Of course you need tactic. How about dicuss some uncertain question with friends, or get some self-tests.

Does doing math problems make one smarter?

Doing your homework will not increase your brain, but it will help you to understand the material better. Practice makes perfect - and that is just as true for doing practice work like homework as it is for practicing a sport or physical skill.

What is the PQ4R method?

PQ4R is a study technique to help students with difficulty in reading. It can help students with improved understanding and recall of facts. The acronym PQ4R stands for:

  • PREVIEW - scan the material to get an idea of the main points; look at headings to see what you are going to be learning; try to figure out what you're going to be reading.
  • QUESTION - ask yourself questions as you read; turn headings into questions and make sure you can answer them; ask the typical "reporter" questions of Who/What/When/Where/How.
  • READ - read the material carefully; if you asked questions about a section, make sure you find the answer when you read.
  • REFLECT - think about what you have just read. Try to make it meaningful by relating it to something you already know, relating the different sections to each other, trying to understand parts that seem to contradict each other, using the information you read to solve a problem, or thinking about how what you read affects your life.
  • RECITE - practice what you have learned by repeating major points out loud; this helps you to remember the information longer.
  • REVIEW - go back over the material by asking yourself questions and trying to answer without reading the work again.

Do students have too much homework?

Students are exhausted from too much homework. They have to do projects, research, written assignments , prepare for tests , do PowerPoint and bring material to class. That's too much!

AnswerYEAH ,

they really are getting to much homework

its pointless because you are doing enough work at school already

teachers are being mean and selfish for making you spend YOUR time doing work , after they already make you spend half the day working at school

Answere:

My teacher gives me homework almost every day that means I never get a chance to finish my other homework. Then he gets mad at me and wants to talk to me and make me start over.
Thie answer to this is subjective. Some teachers are guilty of "busy work" and that takes away from a quality education as it can discourage children. Depending upon the subjects, schoolwork can take much of the time available to many children after school. However, the term "too much" is relative and is often more associated with the child's home life and other activities. In most cases, children do not get too much homework.

What percent of students do not do their homework?

There are no scientific studies to provide accurate numbers for this, but most kids do their work so they don't flunk out of class

The percentage of kids in the world that do not do their homework is not known, but hopefully it is very small.

Should teachers give kids homework?

It is a sad fact of school life that there is homework. Unfortunately, most people do not really learn in school without it. Your instructor only has a limited amount of time to teach you certain things and some of the concepts aren't really learned until you get the homework done. If you are a student who has already learned math, remember how hard it was to learn the multiplication tables? That was really hard and boring, but now you can use what you learned.

Other things can only be done on your own, like learning to write really well. If you don't practice with homework, then you will never learn to put sentences and thoughts to paper. And once again we're left with homework. While it's a pain, think of it this way...you are learning something that your teacher can't hand to you in the time they have in the classroom. Once you have it, you have it for life. The teacher won't be there forever to make you do stuff, only you. Make good study habits, and it will help you all your life, not just for the homework now.

How are your study habits affected by the environment?

Your study habits are affected by anything around you and anything within your mind! Where you study can certainly affect you.

If you try to study in a place with a lot of distractions - loud music, chit-chat (cellphones, text messages, IMs, chat rooms, social networking websites), computers, video games, TV, or just things going on around you - it's going to be much harder to work and concentrate!

The best environment is a quiet one with few distractions - music is OK if it is very soft and has no vocals or loud drums.

What illnesses can homework cause?

There is nothing in homework that is deadly.

ANSWER 2: they're right, technically, homework can't kill you, but if we keep taking down trees to make homework, we're going to kill ourselves, basically, because there are no more trees to make oxygen, and with no oxygen, we can't breath, resulting in the extinction (death) of the human race as we know it.

How much paper is wasted on homework?

7000 tones and the government think that homework is a total wast of time when they think that the children could be going out and burning off fat and its not right to keep them in doing work when they could do the educational work at the school in the school hours instead of wasted at home
