You'd have to have a better way of learning the material - that would most likely involve either a brain implant, which would be pretty painful surgery, or staying at school a lot longer so that all of the kids did the extra work.
This is not a panic situtation. You don't mention your overall grade in the class, but since you are upset over a "B" I am apt to think you have an "A". The "B" may bring this down just a bit, but not much. If you have a copy of your test with your answers go through it and find the right answers. When you study you may want to do an outline as you read the book with the main ideas/details of the chapter. This is really true when it is a subject that you have a harder time with. Talk with your teacher about the grade. I once got a D on a test in a college class and went to the instructor. He was surprised I got such a bad grade because as he stated he knew I knew the information since I had taken an active part in the class, so he turned around and gave me a B on the test. I have also done this for students in my classes. Another thing to help you is to look over the end of the chapter questions. Teachers often use them on tests. This is something I have done. I will take the question and rewrite it a bit for the test. The whole idea of a test is to see if you have learned the information. I think you have a good "handle" on school and seem like a good student, but feel free to use any of the things I have suggested to help you in school.

The best technique to get rid of procrastination, and perhaps the hardest to do, is just to get things done right away. Don't fuss over plans, schedules, the cleanliness of the work area or the volume of the work, and just do what needs to be done. If you can summon enough spirit to start a task immediately once you sit down, you'll be more inspired to work on everything and finish early.

Many people feel the hours of study are the most important. However, students can study for hours on end and retain very little. The more appropriate question is, "how can students study more effectively?" Some issues students must consider are as follows.
- Students need to develop good time management skills. They must realize there is a time to be in class, a time for study, time for family, time to socialize, and time to just be alone. The critical issue is recognition that there must be an appropriate balance.
- Students should acquire a vision; A clearly articulate picture of the future they intend to create for them selves. This will promote a passion for what they wish to do. Passion is critical and leads to an intense interest, dedication, and commitment to achieving career goals and objectives.
- The student must choose the best study schedule, a time they feel is comfortable, and in a place where there is little distraction.
- The student must take notes on the subject matter and rehearse them frequently.
- Students should not study hours on end. One should study 30 to 45 minutes then take a short break. Eat a snack, have a cup of coffee, play with the dog, etc., then return to study. This refreshes the mind, and often issues that may have been confusing before, become suddenly clear.
- The student must develop good critical thinking skills, taking everything into consideration particular to the subject matter.
- Students must not be afraid to ask for help when they have a problem understanding the subject matter. They need to do it immediately and not after days have gone by. They should not feel apprehensive to ask a faculty member, a friend, or go to the academic learning center at the school.
Thus, it is not so much a question of hard study, but how to study in smart fashion. The bottom line is that the student must take responsibility and ownership over their study habits.

There are a few things that can dramatically reduce a reader's ability to understand what they are reading. Lack of sleep is one of the main culprits. Another thing is stress. When a person is under stress, their mind is not relaxed and they don't absorb the information they are taking in. Finally, they could be reading above their level. This would cause them to not fully comprehend what they are reading.
