Leather is processed animal skin. That is why there is goat skin leather, cow hide, lamb skin leather, ostrich leather...

PU Leather does not breath as the layer of synthetic polyurethane does not allow moisture to move through it. The reason leather can stay in good condition through wear and wetness is it can rid itself of moisture. The polyurethane layer cover also does not age or wear. The thin layer of leather used un the polyurethane was normally a useless thin layer of leather before it was used as the under layer in PU leather.

The best way to clean leather shoes is to brush away any dirt that you can with a dry cloth. You can then go over the shoes with a leather cleaning wipe to remove stubborn dirt. Let the shoes dry and then apply a leather polish to them if desired.

Have worked w/leather over years as well as having worked on own garments, etc., making repairs. Hope this might help.

If leather is smooth (not sueded), you can't actually remove a scratch but you can work on the scratch to blend it into the leather, smoothing it out again so not so visible.

Use either good quality leather conditioner or matching color leather cream for this purpose. I chose to use leather conditioner to work out scratch since color leather cream will create a darker line once scratch worked out/back into leather. What has happened is just like when we get a cut ourselves and there's fresh skin exposed. Either leather conditioner or matching color leather cream is going to penetrate moreso on fresh leather exposed by scratch to the leather which is pretty difficult to avoid to some degree.

Apply small amount leather conditioner to scratched area and work it along line of scratch, gently smoothing out the edges of the scratch. Safest way to work on smoothing out/blending in scratch is to work from outside of the scratch edges inward toward the center of the scratch. What you're attempting to do is close up the scratch working outwards into the center so that edges of scratch blend in as much as possible.

You'll get a feel for working on the scratch line and should see it closing up w/possible exception of fine line in center. You can then decide if you want to apply matching color leather cream afterwards to see if covers up scratch further. But what you'll most likely expexrience is further darkening of your scratch line.

If garment, etc. is sueded, what you need to do to fix scratch is use a small wire suede show brush to life the nap up along/around the scratch line. I start out gently using the little wire shoe brush to brush up the nap around and along the scratch line. As you work w/the wire brush you will be able to tell how hard to need to use the brush on the suede to bring up the nap again in order to hide the scratch.

Start by cleaning it with ammonia based cleaner (if the leather allows it) then dry off and buff with a polish brush. Next use Shoe Shine (not polish) to make it very glossy.

When wet? Probably not exclusively from water. However, water and HEAT can absolutely shrink a leather belt, sometimes by several inches! If you were to wash your belt or otherwise get is sopping wet, and then leave it in the hot direct sun or throw it in a dryer, it may very well shrink.

Depends on if the leather is finished, but yes. It'll either literally dissolve and remove the finish on the leather or dry it out badly (best case).

I wouldn't. Leather doesn't take well to washing. Better off taking it to a leather cleaner at the dry cleaner's

To remove scuff marks from white leather- use nail polish remover that contains acetone. Dip cotton swap in nail polish remover and rub onto mark.

A. How to identify genuine leather

Hand touching: touch leather surface, if smooth, soft, plump, flexible feel is the dermis; and general artificial surface made of synthetic leather acerbity, rigid, and poor soft .

Seeing: real leather surface will have a clearer pores, pattern, yellow calf skin have a more symmetrical fine pores, yak skin has coarse pores and sparse, mountain sheep have fish scale pores.

Smelling: those who have the leather smell of real leather; and artificial leather has a strong irritating smell of plastic.

Burning: Tear a litter fiber from the back of real leather and artificial leather, burning, the one issued by a pungent odor, formed a lump is artificial leather; any given hair smell, not a hard nut to crack is the real leather.

With the above four basic identification methods, in order to compare the identification of artificial leather, synthetic leather on the obvious. In addition, artificial leather and synthetic leather has the following characteristics:

B1. press the leather surface with your fingers, there is no obvious pores wrinkles, such as the press after the wrinkles, nor will obviously disappear naturally.

B2. leather surface without pores, which is an important feature of identification of genuine and fake leather.

C. how to distinguish cow leather, pig leather, horse leather and sheep leather
