If a server object is not loaded in the memory and the request for it, then the server object is loaded in to the memory and is initialized

What protocol is used to connect hosts on the internet?

Tcp/ip (transmition control protocol/internet protocol) -- btw it is the whole thing that needs to be written i dont mean either by the / that is just the way it is written

What characteristics distinguish a personal area network from other types of network?

LAN (local area network) MAN (metropolitan area network) & WAN (wide area networks are all pretty much the same thing. the only difference is the magnitude of which they are built. LAN is the smallest, then MAN then WAN, their is no exact guideline as to what a network is distinguished as. a LAN is generally considered just one location (site) a MAN is several site with a large are/country and a WAN is worldwide.

What is a possible problem with a peer-to-peer network solution?

A) Users can unknowingly sever access to shared files or printers.

C) Sensitive data could be made available to unauthorized users.

Does You tube use TCP or UDP protocol at transport layer Give reasons?

TCP is being used at the time being. UDP Support is still being developed in flash.

What is difference between packet switching frame switching and cell switching?

Packet Switching refers to the transfering of the packet from 1 node to the other.

Where as Cell Switching ,means the switching of a cell from 1 network to the other.

Pls note that Packet and Cells are 2 different forms.

Packet itself has header and pay load and but Packets are variable in size unlike cells which are fix.

When packets are switched, the Packet Switch is used and that Switch looks for the next hop in its routing or forwarding table but when a cell is switched, ATM switches are used and the cells actually carry the data and the header and travels from 1 ATM switch to the other. The ATM switches donot use the complex method as Packet Switches use.

What does a distance vector routing protocol let a router know about remote networks?

The availability of networks, and the metric (or "cost" or "distance") to reach them, according to the system used by the routing protocol to calculate this "metric".

What are the common network elements required to form a network?

There are three things that are required to be a network:

  • A sender or transmitter
  • A receiver
  • A medium to transfer information through

For the sender and receiver you must have a NIC (network Interface Card). The medium may be conductive media (cable) or radiated media (wireless).

If you encounter a line protocol down message on a router interface what is is an indication of?

There is a problem with the interface at the data-link layer that prevents it from functioning properly

How does a virtual lAN allow devices to be grouped?

Devices in the same VLAN are part of the same subnet, or "group". (The fact of belonging to one VLAN or another is, to a certain degree, independent of the physical location, thus the name "virtual".)

Difference between Campus area network and MAN?

That is used just on campus like a university. It is used as a large LAN type environment owned by one person or company. MAN is metropolitian and it would be more like a satellite connection for a whole city, and own by gov or state officials, and not one person or company.

How will you protect or prohibit unauthorized users from accessing the company LAN?

This is homework...

First step for cyber security is a good firewall. For physical security you need access control (locked doors and card entry, ect).

What topology passes special network packets?

For WANs depending on the protocol the packets can be very different.

For LANs, the ring topology insists on special packets proceeded by a "token".

What is the difference between context switching and mode switching?

Context means ,in terms of computers, the status of various general purpose registers having some process specific data values and even some other structures dependent on computer hardware,i.e. PCB etc.

Now what context switch means ,""switching from one status of registers set to another status of registers set.""

This context may be of a process or thread etc.

Now when we are talking about any type of context switching,,it means we are requesting the KERNEL to save the current context anywhere, and fetch the next context for us..

It requires a mode switch between user mode to kernel mode, so that required switching may be performed in right order....

Isn't it simple ,,or what.
