Can any body tell me how to delete files premanently in Mac OS instead of moving them to Trash and then emptying it.


There's no such shortcut on mac unfortunately. However, it can performed by writing an apple script. Check this forum....

You cannot delete certain websites from the history. You can only delete all website history. The clear the history in Safari click the Safari name on top left and then click Reset Safari. Click Clear History and then check any other actions you wish to take.

Blend up some apples and freeze them in a jar. break the jar, so the apple mush is frozen to the shape of the jar. Drill a hole in a cold place, so it doesnt melt, and place a banana( Peeled) into the hole. Pour some water in between the banana and the gaps in the apple, and refereeze. Now, take this to an apple employee, and say "fruit salad". They will grant you acces into the back room. They will proceed to make you a free macbook pro, and will give you an instruction manual on how to make one. I didnt type up the whole manual because its 12 pages long and its easier to say how to GET one, than to type it up.

yes but for a mac you don't have to format hard drives... so if you were to put a mac hard drive into a PC you would have to reformat it, I'm not completely sure how to do that

The Mac OS X TCP/IP stack is derived from the FreeBSD stack but configuring TCP/IP stacks is more of a Windows thing than a Mac OS X thing. Depending on just what you want to achieve/what the problem is... trashing the SystemConfiguration's preferences.plist (but keeping a copy for reference purposes is probably a good idea ;-), or simply switching from a wireless connection to an Ethernet connection (or vice versa), and restarting will rebuild the settings.

It depends what you want to do. On Macs, you have a forward delete (the delete you know from windows) and a backwards delete (backspace). If you want to forward delete, you can press Fn + Back delete. If you want to, for example, delete a file, then you press CMD + Back delete, which skips any warning messages and sends it straight to the trash (handy sometimes).

The Open Office download (See links below) is a disc image file (.dmg). Double click on the .dmg icon and you are presented with an icon labelled openoffice.org and another icon which is an alias to your Applications folder. Simply drag the openoffice icon onto the Applications folder icon and Open Office will be copied into the Applications folder. Double click on the Open Office icon in your Applications folder to launch Open Office. There is a version of Open Office called Neo Office that is tweaked specifically for Mac OS X.

5GB is the space required to install Mac OS X Snow Leopard, but don't expect to be able to run Snow Leopard in that space. You will need at least 15 - 20GB to run Snow Leopard and its apps.

Linux and RTOS are two distinct concepts.

Linux is the name given to a specific operating system.

An RTOS (Real-Time Operating System) is a specially designed TYPE of Operating System. Where a 'normal' Operating Systems schedule resources/processing time to programs when they are available to the system, whereas an RTOS specializes in allowing programs to run in 'real time', meaning they are able to respond to changes (typically from an external source) as close to instantly as possible.

Typically, you would find an RTOS in situations where the computer has to react instantly to changes, such as an industrial control system or systems that monitor and control the power grid. If the operating system prevented the program from responding in a timely fashion, the program would be worthless.

Real-time Operating Systems are typically very small, optimized systems, whereas a standard OS is very large, feature-laden and has thousands of different features that run at once.

There IS a pared-down version of Linux known as "RTLinux" which falls into the category of an RTOS, but it's not the version of Linux most people are used to seeing. It's very purpose-build, optimized and fast, unusable by anyone but system designers who can work with such an OS.
