Well, it was a big regularly scheduled ferry service that started up only a couple of years ago that could also take cars and such in addition to people, but we were there in December '09 and according to the local papers ferry service had been discontinued indefinitely.

Visit Hawaii as it is close and is well worth going. The beaches are amazing and if you're an early riser (or if you're not) get up and watch the sun rise over the crystal clear sea.

Some of the most popular areas of Maui to stay include Kaanapali, Kapalua, Wailea and Kihei.

Kaanapali and Kapalua are both located in West Maui, whereas Wailea and Kihei are both in South Maui.

Which one is the "best" depends on what one is looking for.

The Island of Maui has the most, and Hawai'i also has some really good resorts.

There is no Hodgkins Indiana. The town is located in Cook County, IL southwest of Chicago.

Hodgkins INDIANA is not a city, it is merely a UPS hub. It is located somewhere in Ohio close to the border with Indiana. The reason is that Indiana allows only double trailers at max, while Ohio and Illinois allow triple trailers. Therefore, when UPS trucks travel from west to east, they drop one trailer in Hodkings ILLINOIS, and then after going through Indiana they get the third trailer in HODGKINS IN, which is just the name of the UPS hub. When traveling east to west, UPS trucks drop the third trailer in HODGKINS IN and pick up a third trailer in HODGKINS IL.

Edit: The previous paragraph contains major errors... Hodgkins IN is a UPS transfer facility off Exit 1 of the Indiana Turnpike in Hammond by the Indiana/Illinois border. Illinois does not allow triple bottoms, but both the Indiana and Ohio Turnpikes do allow them.

If you do not stop, which would not be advisable since there is so much to see, it would probably take around 7-8 hours. Lots of curves and narrow roads, so you must go very slow much of the way. Also, due to there being no road from the upcountry to Kiehi in South Maui, your trip will have to be like a figure-eight, with some doubling back. Although the shoreline circumference of Maui is about 120 miles, the driving distance would be over 150 miles.

By plane about 45 .... 30 minutes. There was a ferry service but that was discontinued this winter and whether it starts up again is not certain. It took several hours.
